Like so many songs from Led Zeppelin , this takes you on this journey, the key breaks kind of string you along, hypnotized, then it slings you back into the crushing verses and that driving opening riff. Such a dynamic song - truly great songwriting.

Great lesson as usual! Still waiting on that "since I've been loving you", there are some lessons out there, but you're lessons to me are on another level, specially when It comes to Page songs. Keep them coming!
Loads of people have suggested that. I will do it for sure. Just been experimenting with theory stuff prior to this month. I knew I was gonna make it all about IV so I’ve held off. 🙌🏻
I’ve been playing this song off & on for years… but today, after I found your channel, I realized that the little nuances are so important & effective which took my playing to another level….your explanation and overall production are very much appreciated. Thank you. Oh and your hilarious comment about the G6 chord friend had me rolling. 😂
I can never again watch an episode with a history segment about Led Zeppelin without wishing that your wife was reading to us by candlelight from the tub. THE BEST EVER!
Another excellent breakdown and lesson. Another suggestion (as if you don’t have enough) is Tea For One. That song is quite an undertaking and is a great example of using dynamics while overlaying lead on chords. It’s a long one but at least it’s in standard tuning. I, for one, would really enjoy your take on this challenging song!

Haha, what?! That’s so funny. So you and your teacher are both learning from my videos? Or am I just there for guidance when you’re on your own? Either way cool and stoked that you’re getting so much from them.
Love playing up and down the neck against the open strings. Throughout the song it leads to other fun playing around and experimenting. I learned a lot! Very fun lesson from a great teacher...... Thanks Sped!

Greetings from Rio de Janeiro! And I really like your channel and I'm very grateful for your content, we're both big fans of Led Zeppelin, me from Brazil and you from there. And from now on, I will express myself in my native language, to celebrate this virtual meeting of two perfect soulmates separated by geographical distances: Saudações do Rio de Janeiro!
The thing I have learned most from your videos about playing Page songs is that the picking hand is rhythmic up-down. I know that sounds like "duh" but it's really important. I've read that he wrote most things on acoustic, and it really shows in this song. Try playing this song with all down-strokes and observe that while the notes are right, the "feel" just isn't right.
Brilliant video as always sped, great insight and so well explained. Thanks for sharing. And for anyone reading this who isn’t a patron. Do it now now . I can’t recommend it enough. Brilliant 👍😎
Yes I have watched the pickup episode... They sound very vintage-y and open... Clangerous even! Have I mentioned the lady I know who calls him James AND has a piece of his artwork? She knows all that glitters is gold.....
Thank you Tyler. Really appreciate that. Been teaching a long time and try to keep the videos as close to a one to one as possible. Glad it suits your style. 💪🏻
Ahaa! Four sticks is not as easy as many think. You need the proper timing ,and to count the number of times the main riff is played. Not as easy(as I deem it) as pie. But you have brought a new feel to it than I played it previously. Well done Sped, on another Zep lesson! Pagey is master!!! I look forward to the next tutorial. You have really got me back to my beginning days where I wanted Zeppelin ravenously!!!!!
Yeah it’s quite tricky. I use lyrics as reference as well, I used to do it live a lot. Rather than counting 8, 10, 12 repeats etc. It’ll probably help you relax into the tune and feel a little less analytical. Vibing off the singer like one of the band. 🙌🏻
So many people are saying the same thing! I’m buzzing that everyone is finding their way over here, better late than never right! RUclips must be putting my videos in the right places. 🙌🏻🔥

That’s really cool, a few people have mentioned riding in their brothers car and listening to this, or similar to you in listening to it with them at home. Experiences shared are everything, and this sounds like a special one for you and your brothers. Surely a defining moment in your guitar journey? Maybe a deafening one too? 😂 Although we hope not.
Wanted to add my thanks to your fantastic site, I've been playing LZ on the guitar for many years, and there's still so much to learn. Also, your tone is ridiculously good!!

Another great lesson, thanks! This song always gets slagged as the weak link, but I think its the linch pin! More Page genius! So much atmosphere, and of course one of Bonzos best as well. I never tried to learn it until this morning
Yeah it’s a very cool song, it does well to wind Misty down into California. Has the same opening energy and then teases you with sparkling acoustics before it drops fully, if that makes sense?
@@SpedSpedding Agreed! The pacing of the album is yet another instance of brilliance. If I have any "complaint" about the album, it would be that the guitar is mixed a little low on the main riff of this track, but that's probably just the guitarist in me ...to have even written one of these tracks would be a godsend for us mortal men
Always great videos. You make it look very doable and easy. The angle of the camera made this hard to see. Straight over the freeboard is nice as I (we) can see everything clearly that way. Still, great teaching!
@@SpedSpedding Absolutely! Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment! I would love to get in contact if you are willing to teach personal lessons as well virtually. I'm at around 3 years now and not making as much progress as I would like.
Yeah, this month was dedicated to celebrating the fourth album. Three songs that I had never touched before so figured it would be a good time to release them.
I noticed towards the ending of Four Sticks on my Pecko/Duck pressing of IV swells in volume and sounds more aggressive before the fade out than most pressings... the mastering is reminiscent of Bob Ludwig's magical touch applied to Zeppelin II.
Good morning ! Have been tuning in to your channel on my tv and had to let you know how awesome your channel is ! and.. to be able to play a song such as this, not to mention yet all of the others, I found this one so sexy to play the licks.. & its always been a favorite in my Led Zeppelin memory banks ..its So exciting learning any Zeppelin music ! Although I am just skimming the surface here, I just wanted to thank you for the inspiringly fun guidance in learning the tunes.. (really amazing) as a few years ago I stumbled on the Led Zeppelin Complete Lyric & Chord Songbook (put out by Alfred Music Publishing Co) at a local guitar store and I just stood there in the store, pouring into it thinking.. Ohmygosh, I am holding the holy grail of Zeppelin music composition.. now that said, dial that up sitting down learning from a talented enthusiast as yourself, sharing it all ... mind blowing .. sincerely.. Thank YOU !
Morning! Very early morning for me in fact… 00:13 😂 You’re so welcome! Did you buy the book then? Is it working out as a companion along side my lessons? There will probably be some “disagreements” because I do things my own way. But either way I’m glad you’re enjoying the content and learning with me. 🤘🏻😎
Glad you enjoy it! And yeah I love it too, it's broken up beautifully, if you skipped it on for the first time listening you'd never guess it was the same song yet it works so well.
You're so fortunate. I came close to seeing them live. My friend had put in for tix to their Chicago stop on the 1980 autumn US tour. But we know the end of that story. I did see Page/Plant twice though.
Love it Sped. Your lessons and how you incorporate theory tidbits is awesome. Not just learning the song but learning the notes and the why. Ending transition was on point too, just sayin.
Thank you Johnny! Appreciate your feedback as always. It took my ear so I had to drop it in. Also referencing the thirds in there should simplify things if you know them so linking off to that lesson made sense. ✨🙌🏻
This is the one song they never really thought they'd nailed it sound wise in the mixing stage. Probably my favourite track from Four Symbols. Must admit I nicked the chorus pattern for one of my own songs. It's what Jimmy would want hehe.
Another great lesson! I don’t know if I ever really noticed that variation to that progression at the end. Very insightful as always! Keep them coming please.

Ohmygosh, I am holding the holy grail of Zeppelin music composition.. now that said, dial that up sitting down learning from a talented enthusiast as yourself, sharing it all ... mind blowing .. sincerely..
Thank YOU !
Morning! Very early morning for me in fact… 00:13 😂
You’re so welcome! Did you buy the book then? Is it working out as a companion along side my lessons? There will probably be some “disagreements” because I do things my own way. But either way I’m glad you’re enjoying the content and learning with me. 🤘🏻😎
Thank you for this gift!
My pleasure!
I love this song! Great video, as always!
Glad you enjoy it! And yeah I love it too, it's broken up beautifully, if you skipped it on for the first time listening you'd never guess it was the same song yet it works so well.
Awesome job, made me think I need to start playing this again!
✌️😎🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
The record or you personally playing the songs? Either way, cool.
Damn, I wish I could turn my age clock back 50 years lol, but at least I got to see them live twice. Great track, thank you.
You're so fortunate. I came close to seeing them live. My friend had put in for tix to their Chicago stop on the 1980 autumn US tour. But we know the end of that story. I did see Page/Plant twice though.
I think we all do sometimes. If definitely turn it back to a time where I could have seen them live for sure. 🔥❤️
Great lesson!!! As usual...😃
Thank you!
Right on Sped. This is great man! 🤘🏽🖤
You’re welcome. I’m glad you liked it. I’m glad, and so are you. 🙌🏻😏
hey, how you doing mate? love this, have you got patron, how you do, oh isn't that a bargan for the tabs, love you mate.
Haha, you nailed it.
This is the one song they never really thought they'd nailed it sound wise in the mixing stage. Probably my favourite track from Four Symbols. Must admit I nicked the chorus pattern for one of my own songs. It's what Jimmy would want hehe.
Hahaha, if you ever end up in court come back here to erase this immediately. 😂
That intro cracked me up, Sped. Great stuff as always.
Haha thanks David! I bought a lottery ticket that night. Not a single number. 😂
Another great lesson! I don’t know if I ever really noticed that variation to that progression at the end. Very insightful as always! Keep them coming please.
Thanks Paul, yeah the end kinda caught me off guard when playing so I thought I’d chuck in a bit about the hammer and accent changing.
@@SpedSpedding thanks for incorporating that for us mere mortals 🙂
Another awesome zeppelin lesson !! Thanks!!
You’re welcome!
Every song on the IV album is EPIC!
I agree, it deserves a place in history among the absolute best. 🫑 😏
That G 6th is my favorite... and it was on a 12 string.
Ah cool! Explains the octave jangle it has to it. Definitely need a 12 string. And a bigger rack! 😂
