  • I've caught the SPRINGER BUG, so I bought a boat and have been outfitting it for trolling for Spring Chinook. In PART 1, I demonstrate how I spool up my casting reels using monofilament as backing to save money on braid and to keep the braid from spinning on the spool. I show the rods and reels I've chosen based on my experience fishing with my friend Derel the last few seasons. In PART 2 I will demonstrate how we rig up our rods with triangle flashers and cut plug herring. There may be additional parts, so make sure to subscribe!
Check out Fish-Field's Online Store! fishfield.com - It appears the rods are back to regular price, but check back, Fish-FIeld has frequent sales and discount promotions.

I've never used the spreaders before but stick with the VIP line locks. I really like the titanium flasher bumpers from Simon/Hawken. They are 150lb wire, stiff, much thinner diameter than mono, come with some nice duolocks on them and they make 4 different sizes that are color coded with beads. I typically use 18" for inline flashers and 24" for 360s. I think the thinner diameter and stiffness makes it easier for the 360s to work in the water. For inline flashers I typically try to keep my cannonball droppers shorter than my flasher bumper to help prevent tangles. 360s don't get a dropper but the weight gets rigged right to the VIP line lock. I rig a smaller (typically fish-field 50 lb) duosnap on the leader end of all my flashers and tie bead chains to all of my leaders for super quick leader changes and more line twist prevention. Its always interesting to see how others rig up. Tight lines Barry!

Has Derel’s ever talked about vip line locks they are very handy just a tip I thought I’d throw out there. I saw Derel out there on Saturday it never stopped raining and I watched him stay dry under his top while I got soaked 😂.

I do have some! I’m assuming for the sliding weight droppers? I wasn’t able to go with them Saturday because we were camping on the coast.

@@RAGEFISHING yeah I run the tbead to a 10mm bead to a line lock and then I tie the braid to a bead chain. Then I connect the rest of the gear to the bead chain! Both ways work but if you do get the weight hung up you won’t have a mess! 😂.
Dang that sucks you could not go I was out Friday with my dad we had one takedown and landed it. Keeper. Then I went out with some other RUclips friends on Saturday and we went out with Peel The Reel and did not get a bite so fishing has been slow to say the least. I think the rain shut the bite off on Saturday. I think we are gonna go try the Wind River this weekend the damn counts are looking good!
