I just did a side by side comparison with this chair, the Nemo Moonlight, the Nemo Moonlight Elite and the Big Agnes Skyline UL and I chose the Helinox because being able to slide down and rest your head against the back is the BEST feature. That means I can actually doze off and catch a nap which you can't do when your head isn't supported. It's also just a little heavier than the Moonlight Elite! I weighed it myself and it's 1lb 7.6oz with the case! The Elite is 1lb 6oz. I guess my butt isn't that wide, I'm 5"9", 180 and I find it perfectly comfy, LOVE this chair!
I think the highback chairs are nice in concept but just not quite where they need to be. I just did a shootout of the Skyline UL and the the Chair Zero Large and I like the Chair Zero Large for a bit more width and height. I am a bigger and taller backpacker and I found this chair to be where it needs to be for my ultimate comfort. At ~22oz in weight it's perfect. Now if they made Chair Zero large with a high back for around 30oz, that could be a game changer. Thanks for the review!
I was looking for a high-back lightweight chair for a while. I'm 183cm (6ft) and 90kg (198lb). Finally found it at REI Denver. Oh wow, believe me, I was happy! Put it together. And it fell apart in 3 seconds. Super disappointment. The right vertical part punctured the material in a place where it was touching the horizontal bar in the headrest. The sleeve/pocket where this vertical bar goes in should be much more durable. Ended up with the Big Agnes Big Six Camp Chair. Heavier but no plastic hub. So far I'm extremely happy!
Bust. My kids and I have been using 3 "Fakeynox" chairs purchased at AE two years ago. Not a single issue. Superlight and $18 a piece. Enjoy your 10x more expensive Helinox, probably made at the same Chinese factory as its AE clone.
@@chrisschell90 Yes, it's 200 grams heavier than this Helinox chair but STILL superlight. At least for our backs and quads here in the Swiss Alps. By all means, enjoy your Helinox! I'll enjoy my extra cash still in my wallet 😀
The lightest I've found in much searching is 900g for a knockoff. (unless you go for a flexlite, or a stool which are still really $$$) If you have found anything at 700g that is cheap then definitely share it....but from what I can find, 1kg is pretty commin. Plus this is only 200g more than the highback? That's nearly double the chair zero? Now, I'm still seriously considering getting a knockoff too. Because price!! But no knockoff that I've found comes close to 500g. What chair did you purchase?
@@andycjohnston The chair described in this video is 690 grams. Two years ago I bought three generic Helinox clones sold in AE for $18. Those weigh 880 grams. You can still get them today for ~$25. Is this clear enough now or should we call the math police? I know math is hard for you guys on the other side of the pond when we pull you away from your lbs and inches but Jesus H Christ! 😂😂😂
No need to be insulting. The guy was obviously talking about the Chair Zero low back (500g) since you're talking about low back chairs as well. He asked if you'd share which chairs you bought, because he's having difficulty finding them for under 1 kg. Will you share? I'd like to know too, to consider saving some money.
Do you realize how ridiculous that statement is? Sorry you're too weak to carry an extra 1.5 lbs but it doesn't make your dick any larger to be less comfortable.
Used mine for 5 days on the West Highland Way in Scotland and loved it. Definitely worth the weight and bulk (both minimal)

The new Chair Zero L is fantastic. It's a little bit wider. I love it!

Was curious how affected by the fires you are. Glad to see you are still posting!
thanks for putting this together in time for summer backpacking! great presentation as always.

Narrow seat is why I like the REI flexlite better
Is the REI Flexlite narrower? or wider? Thanks.
@@zafiradaima The REI Flexlight feels wider with less "hip squeeze" and to me is much more comfortable
The center pole position makes mine feel like I’m going to fall over. I got the Chair Zero L. It’s amazing for wider hips/shoulders.
For that weight I'd take a 30 € double hammock with me instead and feel much more comfortable (if there are trees near the campsite)
I think both Highback and the original Zero sink in sand the same. They should've put much larger bottom caps on the feet.
How tall are you
I think my torso was the perfect height for this chair, because I fit perfect in this chair and my head rests just right on it.
What is your height? Trying to determine if I am short enough to benefit from the higher back or stick to the original version.
@@megancouch5973 I'm 6'1" but I'm more legs than torso, I wear a medium size pack and have a torso length of 19-20" if that helps.
I tried this chair. Not comfy for my petite frame.
I'll stick with my onetigris high back chair. Cheaper, more durable ans more comfortable.
Try kilos gear

@@chrisschell90 If you'd just at least watched the video, you'd easily realize this chair is not 400gr. Either that or you flunked math at school...

Helinox knows the chair's feet will sink in to sand but never redesign the feet, It's just dumb to buy this over priced chair
Backpacking chairs are for snowflakes Gen Z who needs their mom to carry their backpacks while hiking.
