He did it to my wife at a gig we went to so that was awesome. I've been to hundreds of gigs and never got shit yet when we were young she got called out by Vince (singer) at a Motely Crue gig and then she got the Ghost treatment at their gig too several years ago lol

Ghost might be controversial but they are one of the best rock bands today, I recommend you check out some of their new stuff like "Call me Little Sunshine" or "Spillways" or "Darkness at the Heart of My Love".

The "Satanist" shtick has been pretty heavily played in rock and metal for some ~50+ years now...
Was just about to bring up King Diamond in response. He’s touched all bases of Christianity while in the same facepaint and clothes.. same image.. He was always labeled a satanist by many who didn’t listen, regardless of the actual lyrical messages.

This song and that one really caught me when I first discovered Ghost
The thing is as someone who is fairly new to Ghost myself, I have noticed something with fans that does actually differ from fan to fan more than it does with most bands.
While all fans of bands have their own favourites, there tends to be a lot of crossover or agreement in which songs are the best, but with Ghost, due to their massive variety in song styles over the years you get a much more varied group of songs that people will say are their favourites.
I have heard people say that songs like Spillways or Little sunshine from Impera are up there, some will say Dance macabre, Square hammer or Mary on a cross and then you have others who go back to stuff like Cirice. Secular haze of Elizabeth.
The thing is nobody is wrong (even though some people try to say you are if you prefer something to what they do) as Ghost appeals to different people on different levels.

Just because of the face paint, I’m going to suggest “Evil” by Merciful Fate. The band is headlined by King Diamond, who helped popularize this image decades before Ghost… King Diamond is “top shelf unique” as my old vocal coach used to say.
Besides K.D.'s Vocals Michael Denner and Hank Sherman wrote some AMAZING guitar rhythms and melodies. Evil is fantastic example especially when the rhythm suddenly changes behind the lyrics "And when you're down..." and then after that whole bit they go into the dual lead part.... i'd say "heaven" but, no, not exactly ;)
He Is and Dance Macabre are 2 of my favorites...
I don't know why, but I just love the kid with the big drum. Something about him makes me laugh.
The song itself is supposed to be about a conversion, someone converting to a religion or faith. I loved the part where he sings "Can't you see that you're lost... without me", and how the music twists when he says the last part.
Also, if you're looking for another song to react to, "Countless Skies" by Belakor is pretty damn good. If you're into really heavy metal, anyways.
1st time I saw Ghost was at the Barclays center opening up for Iron Maiden during their world tour in 19' or 20' before the pandemic.
My god are they such a badass band live! I was in awe when I heard them perform and was shocked on how genuinely good they were! Happy you enjoyed them!

Ghost is one of those bands that you can't seem to get away from, their songs are played everywhere, but wouldn't go out of your way to listen to, but when you hear one of their songs it's hard not to appreciate them.

The pronunciation of Cirice is Seer-a-see. The song fellows the same Satanic themes that Ghost are known for. The lead singer Papa Emeritus sings about a person that is chosen by the devil or a demon to become one, offering guidance and power. The young girl in the video is actress and model Masha Malinina who plays a Carrie like role.🖤

Cirice is Old English meaning church. Some say it's pronounced chi-ri-che but it is possible it was pronounced ki-ri-ke (similar to related Norwegian word kirke)

Dance Macabre is my Favorite. Saw it live and it resonated inside me. Others I recommend is Rats and Mary on a Cross.

You should check out "Ghost - Spillways [Feat. Joe Elliott] (Unoficial Music Video)" next! Joe Elliott is the lead singer from Def Leppard, and if you didn't see him in the video it would be easy to not notice he was there because Ghost's lead singer sounds very similar to him. The song is great, and was my introduction to this band!

This may be their best video and one of their better songs, but I think From the Pinnacle to the Pit is the best musically & the video is second only to this and Dance Macabre (which is also a very good song choice).

One of Ghost’s best songs! It’s such a heavy song, but not relying on the sound of modern metal (and its’ heaviness). More leaning into the frame work of old skool metal like Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Deep Purple and Judas Priest while still being pretty current.

I have a song recommendation for you. The band is called "extreme" they haven't put anything out in 15 years but last month they released a song called "rise" it sounds very '90s. Even if by chance you didn't end up liking the song you really need to see the guitar player Nuno betancourt play he's easily one of the top 10 if not top 5 best players around. It's definitely a must listen to. I hope you are able to check it out I'd love to see what you think of it.
