Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners' real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiasts. I contact each person who sends me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up on what happened after what we see on their video. Voice-over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

The guy with the fire extinguisher finally justifying buying a fire extinguisher to keep in his car. He will be telling this story for decades.
Yeah, I bought one too
My parents had a fire in the engine of our 1962 Buick station wagon after it had some work done by the Buick dealership. Some passerby also had a fire extinguisher and put the fire out. After that, my dad always carried a fire extinguisher in his cars. Absolutely terrifying. Thankfully it wasn't because of an accident. I carry one with me as well...just make sure it is locked onto the vehicle as you don't want it to be a missile in an accident.
I carry a fire extinguisher and a firearm, both to avoid appropriate situations.
Anyone who says a door ding is not a crime doesnt know the law. You damaged someone property. A little or a lot you must talk to the owner and deal with it.
"Unfortunately the karaoke isnt the only tragedy in this story" damnnn didnt need to do them like that bro 😂
Door dings are absolutely the offenders financial responsibility.
They shouldn't be in this case. In this case, the door ding "damage" is cosmetic and the lady obviously didn't mean it as a gust of wind caught the door. Anal retentive people filing insurance claims for this sort of thing annoys me.
@@rhodymark4305 What an L take. All door dings are cosmetic. Cosmetic damage is still damage. The woman was completely negligent by not having insurance and then choosing to leave after damaging someone else's car. You must be one of those people that thinks they can damage other people's property with no repercussions 🙄🙄
@@cats400 It's a door ding. These things happen. Whether the lady has insurance or not is irrelevant. I'm actually glad she didn't as she (or an insurance company) won't have to pay a cent to this anal retentive clown. And If you are "one of those people" that allow yourself to get so wound up over a door ding as shown in this video, I truly feel sorry for you.
@@cats400exactly
@@rhodymark4305and? You still damaged someone else’s property. Maybe you should’ve been more careful.
Why should the owner, who did nothing wrong, have to be saddled with the damages?
Several years ago a flatbed semi did a U turn across a double yellow at night on a 65 mph road just after a turn. It has no side lights and was black. Impossible to see from the side.
A military pilot was headed home and ran into the flat bed nearly killing him. The pilot survived but is permanently disabled.
In South Africa yellow reflective strips for the full length of all heavy vehicles has become a legal requirement to avoid this type of incident
@@JJSmith1100 The company voluntarily places reflective strips and lights on the sides of their trailers after this.
They have a good reputation in the area and the incident hurt them.
Yes, safety laws are important to prevent avoidable incidents.
That’s absolutely awful. We have a friend that had something very similar happen. It was a flatbed tow truck that missed their turn, slammed their brakes on, started to make a u turn in the middle of the night with no lights on the side of the truck. Our friends dad was driving, she was in the passenger seat, sadly her father hit the truck and was decapitated with her sitting right next to him. She always said her father saved her life that night because when he did finally see the tow truck, he turned the wheel of his car so his side hit first causing him to lose his life but saving his daughter. I was heartbroken for her for years because imagine knowing what your father did, cost his life but saved yours. It took her years to realize just how much her father loved her by doing what he did in that accident instead of thinking, “well if he didn’t turn the wheel, he’d probably be here today”. I think they both would’ve passed away if her father didn’t do that. He was a great man that so many people absolutely loved.
@@Absaalookemenschthe sad thing is, the driver of that truck probably thought no one else was in the street late at night and didn’t think of the consequences of someone driving there. Its a horrible situation

14:33 is the exact reason I left my previous insurer. You avoid an accident and you get a bad driving alert.
I have a question, how do they know about it ? Are you obliged to share dashcam footage or something ?
@@Luca_Amaral They have a device installed in the car that records things like hard braking, hard accelerating, and the g forces when making an evasive maneuver
@@Luca_Amaral They have satellite tracking installed in the car that just measures g-forces and speed. So no real road condition or visual info just numbers. If you brake on conrner hard it counts against your performance. So if you swerve and brake hard to avoid an accident their numbers see it as reckless driving.
Are you not able to explain the situation to them to justify it?
I opted out of those programs for this very reason. Imagine you slam the brakes to avoid a child that ran into the road and then the insurance provider punishes you for it. A device that records how I drive my own vehicle seems like an invasion of privacy, and there are far too many variables on the roads for it to be accurate.
I do not own a Tesla but after seeing these videos I've actually went out and bought a 4K front and rear camera for my car and my wife's
nice! I have a front and rear dashcam but they're not 4k. wish I could afford them, I'd imagine if you need to read a license plate it will be much easier.
I've got a Vantrue dual cam setup for me and my wife's cars. Front is 4k, and the rear is 1080p. While it was a different camera setup, this configuration helped a lot in the last collision she had where she got rear-ended by an uninsured driver and shoved into the car in front of her.
Antonio, it’s a yield. Not a stop sign. You didn’t just slow down, you came to a complete stop. You’re supposed to be already checking for traffic as you’re approaching the yield that way you don’t have to come to a complete stop when you don’t need to. It was plenty obvious it was okay to go. Doesn’t excuse the rear-end. But totally avoidable
Agreed. Drivers seem to yield at Stop signs, and stop at Yield signs. It's infuriating.
8:32 How is it a question regarding Subaru vs Tesla.. Clearly the Subaru. It's irrelevant if the wind did it. She had the responsibility to close her door instead of putzing around.
14:20 - Exactly why I don't participate in driving monitoring by my insurance. My rates would skyrocket for avoiding idiots on the road.
I don’t understand how that’s legal. It feels like a bait and switch. 10 percent off in exchange for all this data monitoring and then your premiums go up close to 20 percent for successfully evading an accident? Insurance companies are a cancer on society.
@@obsoletecd-rom all scams
how come you got so many uninsured drivers in the US and how come they're not being fined hard for this + license suspension ?

10:55 Probably a carbon-fiber aftermarket hood. Owner probably stripped holes when they tightened the bolts. I've seen this happen a couple of times.
100% a carbon/fiberglass hood, but the owner didnt install hood pins which are a must, this hood looks like it didnt have any skeleton to it either
12:15 that was absolutely boss move right there...and the driver kept on driving at the same pace on same line as if he didn't just pull off an extremely good and agile and perfect maneuver.
Living in Chicago for some years taught me to always hold my door when opening it to avoid any bumps. When opening it to exit, I put my left foot under it just in case.
16:44 Jetstorm that karaoke is as epic as when you use the word HUZZAH it gave me so much I flooded my basement. I love the song they used !
When it's even a little bit breezy I hold onto my door to be sure it doesn't hit the car next to me. But . . . I'm a nice person and not a complete airhead. Also, I don't want dings, nicks, and scratches all over my door either. With every passing year it seems that drivers are more wrapped up in Me! Me! Me! and seem to have no consideration at all for their fellow humans.
10:52 Looks like the Ford Mustang was sporting an aftermarket hood that was probably installed incorrectly. Looks like the driver has a ton of aftermarket parts given how many stickers they have
Exactly what I was thinking! 👍

"In ehat other car can you experience such excitement?" I couldn't tell if that was sarcastic 😂
The answer is anything with an engine.
Tesla insurance uses “(beta)” feature of calculating driver behavior and it’s ridiculous. It keeps on increasing the premium for things like “following a car closely” which cannot be avoided in slow traffic or jams. And that’s just one of the reasons.
Money making racket, have to fig out how to pay for totaled Teslas somehow?
I remember that Tesla scoring stuff. I absolutely hated how a smart car could be so stupid with their scoring.
Particularly as the Tesla lane keeping mode actually follows too closely behind the vehicle in front…

I'm surprised I haven't seen swift or FedEx or western express here myself
Have fun with that snapshot insurance!
After watching this channel I upgraded my dashcam to front and back. I also have carried fire extinguishers for 30+ years and used them 6 times although didn't on another occasion (car was too far gone)

A "door ding" is a crime if it is not reported. It is equivalent to a hit and run. Property damage is a crime if not reported and compensated for!
I'm an e-bike rider. It's my preferred way of getting around. People in cars drive like absolute morons around bikes. I have a camera on my bike because of this. In my mind, there's no excuse not to have a camera in 2024.

Never allow an insurance company "monitor" your driving. It's a scam and it will ruin your rates 100% of the time. This needs to be illegal as it's an invasion of privacy.
Most only offer discounts. The worst you can get is zero discount.

The Rivian van, That's post oak and lake view dr, The driver of the Tesla crossed the solid white, he's supposed to be in the lane to his left, He turned into the vans lane not the other way around. That traffic pattern is crappy, having been a delivery driver in the area, I know that turn very well, and people often end up turning into the wrong lane. But he's in the far left lane entering the intersection, the law is you turn into the closest lane in the indicated direction of travel. Which is not what Crue did. He was in the wrong. If you intend to turn left on to the bridge, then proceed straight across you need to be in the second lane from the left entering the bridge. The far left turns into a lane that is left turn only to reverse direction back onto the 35-e service road. Normally I don't feel as opinionated but that being an intersection I used to traverse 4-5 times a day, I can speak with certainty on that one.
Thank you!! Was waiting for this comment!! 😊
Thank you!
Yep. We have an intersection almost like that in my state. So gotta be extra careful especially since some of the people in my state aren't the best drivers anyway
0:39 is that Footage from Beechnut road? I used to live very close to there if it was there- cuz the roadwork looks exactly like that
12:03 should be a toyota commercial lol
The Subaru driver touched the door so kinda launched and then the wind caught it free
The rivians edvs that Amazon use are actually super comfy. Heated/ cooling seats, heated steering, lots of leg room and it's tall on the interior. Even has cruise control and Bluetooth with speakers in the cargo area. Only downside is that you gotta work for Amazon/ dsp to drive it.
The power made it from 999 likes to 1K
Can you do new mexico next please😅
You should do a video of the worst drivers in Washington!
As a non US person, i cannot fathom how people can drive around uninsured car, how does it works? In Europe is illegal to do so
It is illegal in Texas, but that has never stopped people from breaking the law. Texas also has a lot more of a certain kind of people that EU does not have
0:47 Ford was overtly in the wrong but the biker was also in the wrong as well. If I was driving and someone did that to me, I would have just gone around them. Not a fan of people attempting to tell others what to do while taking up 2 lanes of the road. On a side note, I hope this wasn't a stunt to boost the guy's YT channel by hiring someone to pretend to do this. Not like that hasn't happened before.
5:58 Who is responsible for causing the accident? The dog owner?
6:56 Turns like that are traditionally yield situations. Antonio came to a complete stop for no reason. Maybe he believed he need to stop before proceeding and the other driver was looking to their left for traffic not expecting Antonio to still be there.
5:42 This is why people should always make sure their cars are clear of snow and ice, so it doesn't go flying off and nearly hitting another car. At least that's what I do if it was snowing. I make sure I clear all the snow and ice off my car so it doesn't go flying and hitting another car.
It's the law in several states. Been that way since 2002 in New Hampshire after a child died following an accident caused by flying ice.
NOOOO it’s a old man! 17:48

10:00 Santi, that's not a BMW, it's a Volkswagen Jetta between 2021/2024 and I know it because I have the same one in white.
crazy how the clearly terrible road infrastructure (especially intersections) is causing so many crashes in the US. Same as the possibility to overtake on the right lane, non sense. And all these enormous trucks with no visibility, brakes that lock and crazy suspensions that give no control at all. Adding to that extreme amounts of speeding, no insurance and road rage, and you get these insane road conditions and safety.
When did Rivian start making delivery trucks?
A few years ago. I see them around Cleveland, Ohio all of the time.
This is the reason to why you should always be driving really far from the car in front of you to give yourself space 🙏🏽🙏🏽

No surprise, it’s Texas. So glad we got out of there. I got tired of being coal-rolled and harassed by giant trucks and being threatened by guns on the road. I actually had a giant fuel tanker truck try and run me off the road intentionally.
To the best of my knowledge, a door ding isn't a crime unless it's intentional. It's a civil matter, not a criminal matter, when the wind blows your door into another car because you weren't holding it to prevent such an incident. The person whose door the wind used blew is the one responsible for damages.
It makes you wonder if SUVs turn people into bad driver or if bad drivers are just more inclined to choose an SUV.
Zooni's insurance increase is a great example of why I will NEVER get one of those Big Brother tracking insurance policies. Such utter bullsh¡t!

as a fellow texan, these are accurate
Texas actually made it illegal to fail to properly secure ladders on side and overhead racks. We used to have two or three reports of ladders on the freeways every day until that law went into effect. There are a lot fewer of them now than there were in years past.

Many of these seem to be caused by a combination of over reactions/ road rage, and worn out suspension components. I'm a mechanic, the main things you need to keep in good functional condition on a cars suspension system are 1. Good tire tread, 2. Good functional shock absorbers, 3. Good tight sway bar links and bushings, and inner and outer tie rods/ ball joints. Plus keep a stock suspension, enough with this Carolina squat/ lifted vehicle with wheel spacers and rubber band tire nonsense. The manufacturer designed the vehicle with its ride height and tire size for a reason. And with all this in your favor, you should be less likely to spin out and flip over during an over reaction on the road.
