I confused lots how to selected certain mat ID when i want to only normaliz the leaves inside the tree model. This videl helps me lots and solved it. Thx!
you are wonderful!!! I have been trying to figure this out since I started class and with your explanation I get it finally!!I have used your other tutorials to learn this program too and have learned a lot from you. I hope you teach this because many could learn from you. I take this class in college and have been totally confused about the material editor until this.
Great tutorial! lets say i have a model and all objects are in one piece. How do i divide the faces up so i can select them easily just like the tea pot?
Yeah, but can you actually unwrap different parts of a single object individually(and therefore texture them individually), using material ids? Or is it done some other way? That would be cool to know. Thanks for the tutorial!
Fitzgerald Krox Love how she ignored everything you said and just thanked you for your "feedback". However, I will answer you, yes, when you unwrap the model, on the UVW Editor window it will let you select which material ID's to display
in the case of me wanting to export this model to Unreal 4 (a game engine with it's own material editor), would setting the material ID's be enough, or do I still have to assign the materials within 3ds max and then replace them within unreal 4?
This is the closest video I can find for my issue. I want to select and assign random colors to all faces on my editable mesh. It's a low-poly model, but it has over 350 faces, so in comparison to the video, I really, really don't want to assign each face a manual ID. Can't stand all-grey faces!
I have just a question cauz I am beginner in max :p I understood all ur tutorial but I was asking to me "how could I got this color Id on my map UV" How to bake this sub object material? thx :p
Finally got my multi sub/object materials to work thanks to this tutorial.
Thank You
