    This is by far the most elaborate tutorial for 3ds and does not take too much time. Thank you Ms. Wendy for making the helpful tutorial video.

    Your approach of modelling looks fascinating, so simple techniques employed. Modelling using a plane and editing
    vertices and edges are just a signature of simplicity. Thank you. Please come up with more Ma'am.

    Hi Wendy :-), how nice it is to hear a lady giving us tutorials, especially for such a complex software as this. I'm going to use your tutorial to create a chrome sphere, which I 'hope' (as I've nit tried it, and I've not used this software for a looooong time due to one thing or another. But having seen an image where someone uses a chrome sphere and a chrome cube in his Terragen images, I want to mimic this type of imaging using photographs instead. 'Should' I pull it off hahahaha, I'll upload a link so it can be viewed, by you or anyone who is interested. Thanks again. subbed too :-)

    How do I get a non-uniform shell thickness? Say, I wanted the handle to be slightly thicker than the neck and the bowl.

    • @RATSGAME
      @RATSGAME 9 лет назад

      ***** You can't do that with shell alone, you will need to incorporate the push modifier and select the polygons which you wish to thicken or make thinner. Soft selection can help with this.

    Hi Wendy,
    I'm not sure what i am doing wrong here. I am sure it is something simple. when i select the edge "3DMAX 2015" I hold shift like you say to do, but it selects and or only moves the original edge and does not extrude that edge. can you please tell me what i am doing wrong ?

    • @sadmanh0
      @sadmanh0 8 лет назад

      +Michael Morrow I'm having the same problem on 2017 version

    • @b2bomberzzz
      @b2bomberzzz 8 лет назад

      +sadman hoque It should work... Hold SHIFT and move your edge! Make sure your edge is selected first! Let me know if it worked?

    • @sadmanh0
      @sadmanh0 8 лет назад

      +Keyboard Warrior by 'edge' you mean the x-axis arrow right? I did that it doesn't work, although I hold shift first and then click on the arrow, should I do it the other way round?

    • @b2bomberzzz
      @b2bomberzzz 8 лет назад

      +sadman hoque When your in the (Edit poly) modifier there is vertex, edge, face etc. you have to select edge then go to your model and pick an edge you want to extrude! After you picked that edge hold SHIFT and move it on the X-axis then it should extend.

    • @sadmanh0
      @sadmanh0 8 лет назад

      +Keyboard Warrior its working now, thanks a lot! :D

    Hi Wendy, I've watched and completed about 8 of your tutorials. Something I don't understand - sometimes you use turbosmooth and sometimes you use nurms - what is the difference and how do you know when to use each one?

    • @RATSGAME
      @RATSGAME 9 лет назад

      3970xRocks There's no difference between them except for some very minor algorithmic differences which will only show up in very specific cases. Most people use Turbosmooth because it's a modifier, shows up on the list and can more easily be turned on and off. NURMS requires you to scroll your modifier panel constantly. If you are using Max 2014 Extension or 2015 or later, you should be using OpenSubDiv instead of turbosmooth in every single case without question. This method doesn't require as many edge loops as it's a cleaner algorithm developed by Pixar specifically for subdivision modeling, so it works very good simply with edge creasing values.

    Wendy, I think i answered my own question through a little research :). You cannot use the hold shift method when 3dmax is in Maya view port mode. so my question now is how can you do it while you are using the maya mode ? i really do not wish to change since i am used to navigating this way. is there a work around for it ?

    • @sadmanh0
      @sadmanh0 8 лет назад

      +Michael Morrow can you please tell me how to use the hold shift method? its not doing anything on mine, I just end up moving the object

    • @michaelmorrow9927
      @michaelmorrow9927 8 лет назад

      +sadman hoque just like she did "Make sure you are in 3dmax mode and not Maya". go to sub object edges, select your edge then hold shift key and left mouse same time and drag out. hope that helps.

    Please take a second to read this and take it to consideration. I am putting together a team called Univision, I am not certain about this name yet so it can be changeable. This team is going to create a Xbox1/Ps4 or a PC futuristic first person shooting game that also has a story line. I am not all that good on creating looks of objects or maps, but I'm good at marketing and coding. If you are interested please message me and I will be sure to get back at you. So who is with me on a journey to make the new best game?!
