Decades ago I did a solo acoustic act in bars in Amarillo, "You've Got a Lover, and Deep in the West" always were received well. I did my best to do them justice. I always made certain I credited the songs to Shake Russel. Thank you for your music.
One of my favorite songs from "Deep in the West" album... I turned a lot of friends onto Shake Russell way back in the 1980's... a local band called "Lands End" learned this song and played it often... one of their favorites !
My meaning was that back in the mid 50's to mid 80's, great music was ...and good times with such abundance of great music...was the norm, not the exception, like it is today.
This brings back a lot of memories. I was friends with the Blacks (Kevin, Clint, Mark, and Brian) in Houston back in the 70's and 80's and they turned me on to and also introduced me to Shake at an outdoor nighttime gig. Kevin really liked that song and sang it all the time. Those were good times with the music!
I mean, not for nothin, but these times aren't so bad either... Have you heard Joshua Ray Walker's 'Sexy after Dark?' Holy cow, that boy can sing...ruclips.net/video/mUpQ6yGc5gg/видео.html Thanks for watching!

Bravo! Bravo! Do you remember playing at Cooper's Alley in Corpus Christi just before Hurricane Allen? Then I had to go to work at Spohn Hospital till Monday or Tuesday? Blast from the past. ❤❤

Brian Young (aka "B")covered this song for years with Ronnie Leatherman on bass in the Kerrville area. Brings back great memories ❤️
Amazing, I’ve known this song for many years, still makes me cry

lovely lyrics … highlight for me back in the late 70’s & early 80’s was seeing Shake & Dana Cooper perform in Houston. Just the best!
Thanks for listening

...with the best music!
Correction here. Don't not play on the festival stage but B worked for the festival at that time. B has gone awhile now and we still miss him ❤
