- I recently had a chance to visit Griffith Observatory, and this is what i saw. The Griffith Observatory sits on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood in Los Angeles' Griffith Park. It commands a view of the Los Angeles Basin, including Downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, Hollywood to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest.

I really enjoyed being able to film the sunrise at Griffith Observatory. This is such a unique place in L.A. where you can find a bit of open space.
I’m blown away by video. More amazed by the fact there are legal areas to fly a drone in LA. I’m from LA originally it was great to see the observatory outside of a movie setup. Big thumbs up to you.
Thanks Jose, i had a lot of fun on this flight.
Awesome video!
Great shot Jeff. Beautiful combination of sun, downtown and the observatory itself as you said. Congrats.
Thanks Ian, i wish i could have stayed longer to check out other parts of the city. Next time...
Great video Jeff. And fair play for doing your homework first to ensure you got the lay of the land and also the permissions etc to fly. A gud lesson. Keep up the great work.
Million dollar shots...awesome job.
Thank you so much for the compliment!
Awesome stuff Jeff, always look forward to your posts...hoping to see something again soon!!!
Thanks buddy I appreciate that!
Enjoy your videos! I work in LA but have never flown my Mavic 2 by the Griffith observatory. My favorite flight so far has been in Moab, Utah. I found an open Arch and flew the drone through it. I still have to edit the video.
GREAT video Jeff 👍👏👌👍👍👍. Your a true gentleman.. thx for letting me share! 🤟🤟 (I deleted the other comment) 👍👍

HI Jeff, just wanted to give you a shout out at how awesome your videos are. I just bought a Mavic Air that i am learning to fly.
I have learned so much from your videos mate, yes I live in Australia and appreciate how informed they are.
What video editing software do you use mate..? Thank you for your great work.
Hey Jeff, nice footage! I'm DrOne Drone with another channel, subbed with this too 😉
One question. Aren't you worried about the birds flying around? Have you ever experienced attack or close encounter with them? Often times I worry about birds "interacting" with the drone.
The Griffith Observatory is posted as a no fly zone for drones.
I flew there too, nice video!
Hi thanks Timothy! Any other places in the area you would recommend?
@@JeffGreeneChannel Here is a website I used when I first got my phantom 3 standard. Now I got the mavic 2 zoom. Just got done in san fransisco flying! uavcoach.com/where-to-fly-drone/los-angeles/
OUTSTANDING!!!, You topped all of your previous videos...which like finding parking in LA is no easy feat!!!! KUDOS! Which drone did you use?
Thank you Design Eagles, you are too kind! This is such a unique area and so different from back home. i used the Mavic 2 Pro for this one. Got to love that Ocusync 2.0
Hi Jeff! Amazing footage like all ways!! I want to make a video tutorial about your focus technique. I know, you focus to infinity.... Make a video. Plz
Thanks for the thumbs up Chris, i can definitely put something together on focus technique!
great vid,pls what song is that?
This would be such a great place to build a house.
If I was a billionaire, I'd buy it for the land it's situated on, tear it down and build my dream house there.
awesome work.. and i know exact the feelings you are talking about :-) In which area exact you are allowed to fly in the observatory area? i didnt dare to fly there last time i visited :-)
Hi Lichtbildidealisten, the important thing to remember is that the FAA controls the airspace. Airmap will show you that there are no Advisories for this airspace(all green). Griffith Park has posting that you can't fly in the park. This means that you cannot take off or land from within the park. However, if you take off from a place outside the parks authority, you can fly in the airspace above (according to the faa). Hope that helps.
@@JeffGreeneChannel yeah, thanks a lot, i get it...
Great shots! For me it was driving 100+ miles to catch the reflection on these lakes, to only drive around a bit to find a place to park to take off and capture, here’s a clip of what I got: ruclips.net/video/pwjS8C6LixY/видео.html
just dropped you a comment, those colors are amazing! I can only hope to see leaf colors like that.Thank you for sharing the vid!
