Hey Justine! I've been following on/off from your early days with just Apple products, then you branched out for other product reviews which was great! This video of Rivian R1S is awesome! Hopefully, they make a solid recovery. Anywho......I found your video very informative and fun for all of the features that anyone would use. You are your sister did a good job showing the functionality and i just wanted to say it was a very good and fun video to watch. Nice job!
It's nice to see the split gate feature commonly seen on Land Cruisers and Range Rovers live on in a next gen SUV. I am tempted to order one as I think it's the best electric option out there by a long shot but I think I will wait for the second gen tech to drop before buying in to the electric fad. Looking forward to seeing these on the trails in the near future.
the release button in the frunk should be mechanical rather than electronic in case the battery dies or there is a failure in the motor or computer. also, it's a pain to lift luggage over the grill portion should be like the F150 lightening where the grill portion is part of the hood so you have a bigger and lower opening to lift things into. Also need drain plugs in the cabin.

A vehicle with this much hp and torque can really F' things up right quick if one doesn't have all their ducks in a row at launch time. If you know what I mean. I've got an EV with 480 hp and 600 ft. lbs. of torque and man, these things can be like playing with a loaded weapon. It haunts me to think that parents will be allowing their teenages to borrow these cars for the evening. Anyway, absolutely awesome review. I've got an R1T and an R1S in the order queue and hoping to take delivery of the R1T within the next 6 months and I can't wait. Especially after watching your review. Thanks again.
I've been interested in this SUV since I first heard about it but it needs to be made available with a solid non-glass roof. I live in southern Nevada where the sun shines like a laser beam and there is essentially no shade or trees or anything to block it. UV coating is cool but it's not going to hold up against direct desert sunlight. Once they start offering versions with a solid roof, I'll put my order in.
This is fantastic! I'm sure Justine is going to get hers several years before many of the people with existing preorders. I think that is the bigger problem with Rivian. They started development so much earlier than companies like VW, Ford, and GM, but that isn't going to translate to meaningful market share. They are going to have a tough road ahead of them.
i am in love with the R1S, actually that will be my next SUV, I have a huge family and I want to change for regular car to an EV, i wish i can be able to test one
If you have a huge family you should wait for maybe an explorer electric or definitly an expedition electric or an electric minivan of which no manufacturers have yet made an accouncement about . This Rivian is still a midsize suv .
I like what rivian has been doing. Was already impressed with the R1T. The R1S (from side) looks a lot like the jeep grand wagoneer ! Except the eye watering fuel economy part lol. And for the range anxiety part, i feel brands need to collaborate to cross use the charging stations.
Tesla is talking about adding CCS charging to the Supercharger network, and they already make an adapter (in Korea for now) to allow newish (2021 and up) Teslas to be charged on CCS fast charger. The older Tesals don't have the CCS compatibility, but my 2022 Model 3 RWD does.
uhhhhh might want to have the wheel straight when launching lol! great vid! very excited about Rivian. They're going to suffer and spend a bazillion dollars and not make money for years. That's what it takes. Anyone that talks about it like it's a bad thing is an idiot. You don't just start an automobile company and make money from the beginning.

Great video! This is the one I'm waiting for and I hope Rivian production ramps up. Tesla is on target to deliver 1.7 million vehicles this year and that took some time to reach. If they can ramp up fast they could dominate the SUV EV market. A lot of pickups coming out but not real SUV's. With the towing capacity of 7,700 pounds it sounds awesome.
I have driven so many cars, but The interior of Rivian cars is out of this world…./ big respect to Rivian, they really did made big impressions for new car company 👏
Trunk opening from inside is required by law in the U.S. All cars sold in the USA have that! Apparently too many Americans are getting kidnapped and potentially driven around in car trunks. Other than that, this is a very neat SUV! Thanx Justine, love your videos
Best video I’ve watched about the R1S thus far! Thank you for showing all that the R1S has to offer!!!! 2023 I’ll be a Rivian R1S owner!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾😎💆🏾♂️🎁
I've seen some R1Ts on the road already but have also read some horror stories of them bricking themselves and not letting you in and stopped working at all. Definitely need another year or 2 for Rivian to work out all the kinks
shame it's only available in US and Canada. the looks and the functionalities are lovely! aside from Tesla, because it has its own network and arguably the best system inside, this looks the most promising from all the new companies out there. looking forward to see how they do when they sell enough to expand to europe.
Justine, did you get close to the stated mileage on a charge on the R1S? As with any vehicle, as you drive faster and accelerate quickly, you will use more power. I own a Tesla Model 3 and get about 70% of my range if I drive 80Mph on the highway. I do get my rated range when driving 65Mph.
The issue isn’t making a great car, it’s scaling it up to sell millions. This Rivian is excellent but can they ramp up production and still survive? I hope so!!!
Obviously a non car person the computers did a great job of correction and putting down the power but privileged enough to get an early access and a reservation. This car out of reach for the middle class.
I can say, that as one of the ppl making these vehicles is that we appreciate the great review, it makes the hard work we put in well worth it. Keep the world adventurous forever
Just make them affordable so that everyone can buy. Just wait until legacy car manufacturers catch up and offer more luxury and more juice for a justifiable price.. total rip off
@@bzgent we would love to do that and that’s the goal in the future, right now we are going through issues with supply line, they also just replaced the head of production, we are a start up jumping into the game with large ambitions
Land Rover wishes they were this high tech! Incredible car. But a part of me feels like for the price the exterior/interior styling/finishes should be a little more impressive.
EVs are always overpriced for what they are. They have to sacrifice somewhere, and it's usually fit and finish. Teslas have horrible fit and finish and quality control-but they cost as much as an S-Class.
thank you for sharing information on the R1S. I would be interested to see a few things. How storage looks like when the third row is up (and the cover off) and how to access the third row (is it 40/20/40 split and does the middle row remove?). Does the second row slide, fold, and tilt? Kind of like a minivan?
Shorty said “ima straighten it out” then floors the car with the wheel turned to the left….😂😂 bro are they HIGH? (They gotta be dumb cus even when I’m high I don’t launch my 300 hp car like that)
Good, but very high level, review. Since availability of the R1S for reviewers is so limited (there are few built and so the available pool for reviewers is small), would be great if Rivian would prioritize availability for reviewers from actual automotive outlets and automotive journalists rather than internet influencers since those outlets have more experience with vehicle comparisons and the content could be more than superficial. Really wanting some more detailed content comparing these to the already-well-covered R1T and a compare and contrast of the differences between the two such as how the shorter wheelbase impacts on road and offroad driving characteristics, turning radius, ride/comfort, etc.
Wait, you don't want to hear about the emergency frunk release that's federally mandated and in the truck of every modern sedan or all the aftermarket accessories that you can pay more for through Rivian just like any other manufacturer?
The fronk is a safety feature in your in danger of an animal attack or encounter a dangerous animal. You can hide call for help and the release is to help if you want to get out. Its not always something bad.

An interior trunk release is required by law and there is one in every normal call- even if you never realized it lol. You usually uncover a panel and pull a cable that can unlock it. Same is true in case your gas cap is not opening.

Wait in America you don’t have electric suvs? That’s like all we have in the UK
@@wut5910 oil and gas owns our government.
@wut5910 not real SUVs with 7 seats that can tow and go offroad. Mostly just smaller crossovers.
I have driven so many cars, but The interior of Rivian cars is out of this world…./ big respect to Rivian, they really did made big impressions for new car company 👏
What a world to live, tech youtubers reviewing cars.
Great design spacious nice presentation 😍
Need this. Just put my order in but super sad I gotta wait a year
I orderd mine 3 months ago. I am thinking realistically, 2024 is when I'm going to get one but if I get one in 2023, that would be a nice surprise.
@@BAYAREAMX says late 2023 for me, but we shall see! I know how backed up it was when i was waiting on my tesla
Rivian is getting faster at production. Also a 2nd plant is being built.
There is already talks about expanding to Europe
Yeah indeed. Maybe with a better pricing though because 70k$ sounds really scary.
@@Goodnnhu eh, sad but true...price are spiralling out of control nowadays
Thanks Justine! Awesome review. I think you covered everything, in less than 12 minutes! The R1S is gorgeous, especially in El Cap! 😉
Much more true to mileage than Tesla. Stated range is actually what you get.
LOL
Many Many Congratulations 7M
@6:18, when you see one of the coolest artists on your playlist. Loved this video, it was very informative.
The issue isn’t making a great car, it’s scaling it up to sell millions. This Rivian is excellent but can they ramp up production and still survive? I hope so!!!
Awesome video! Interested in this product, have one on order currently.
@@UriSheinman I know it was going to be awesome. And I’ve had one on order for a year now.
6:02 Glad the steering wheel straightened it's self out, cause she launched it with the wheel completely upside-down, That could have ended horribly.
Obviously a non car person the computers did a great job of correction and putting down the power but privileged enough to get an early access and a reservation. This car out of reach for the middle class.
@@111danish111 sorry, I originally misunderstood your comment, 100% agree
@@111danish111 I don’t think u gotta be a car person to know you should be pointing straight 😂😂
@6:50 'We're going down'
This R1S is sooooooo AMA2!NG🎉

Um no..they gotta a long way to go..lol
EVs are always overpriced for what they are. They have to sacrifice somewhere, and it's usually fit and finish. Teslas have horrible fit and finish and quality control-but they cost as much as an S-Class.
I’ve been in this Rivian… the quality isn’t even remotely on Range Rover level and what high tech are you talking about. 😂
thank you for sharing information on the R1S. I would be interested to see a few things. How storage looks like when the third row is up (and the cover off) and how to access the third row (is it 40/20/40 split and does the middle row remove?). Does the second row slide, fold, and tilt? Kind of like a minivan?
Exactly!!!! She just wanted to talk. Yap yap and yap. Miss out on a bunch if crucial features
This is the ONLY other EV I love the look of aside from Tesla.
I have a Tesla now, but am definitely looking at an R1S when it’s time to upgrade
This came through the car wash and the interior is insane
Ew
@@midnightwaterdragon4725 To what does "Ew" refer? Can you elaborate?
Agreed
Wait, you don't want to hear about the emergency frunk release that's federally mandated and in the truck of every modern sedan or all the aftermarket accessories that you can pay more for through Rivian just like any other manufacturer?
Same; however, the review may connect with and bring in more mainstream buyers, instead of just "car folks".
The fronk is a safety feature in your in danger of an animal attack or encounter a dangerous animal. You can hide call for help and the release is to help if you want to get out. Its not always something bad.
WoW I don’t have many words this car is insane it has literally everything you can think of in it and has more gadgets in it then I ever seen in a car this is mind blowing 😳 I want one ASP
Wow! This looks cool! Perfect for our family
They really produce quality cars. I've seen the clip and I like it.
oh my how I would love one of these a dream come true would be understatement.. I need to work a little harder and smarter ..... this is an amazing car and Rivian is truly being a trend setter in all departments
Wish this came out sooner, deff was a vehicle on my list to get. This will deff be on top of my list in the next 4 years when I'm ready to purchase another vehicle!!!
Im so jealous! Rivian r1S is so sick I would totally live out of it haha
This video has lot of details, wow iJustine did great job!
As a Rivian employee, this is so exciting!
Truly a beautiful and functional electric SUV. Nice work!
The elevation is so amazing for this like myself who need accessibility. This is an amazing vehicle and props to both you and your sister for a great review vid.
Personally I don't like the cute robot style fronts of rivian vehicles but omg the side and rear of this SUV version is quite stunning I love it.
Congratulations you have been selected among the shortlisted winner's for the ongoing Ps5 giveaway What'sapp the number above👆
If this is cheaper than the Model X in Norway.. we might switch to this in the future! Looks amazing, lots of space, and able to drive up to the mountains during winter!
Such a great video Justine!! And also one of the first looks of the R1S too! Truly looks awesome!
An interior trunk release is required by law and there is one in every normal call- even if you never realized it lol. You usually uncover a panel and pull a cable that can unlock it. Same is true in case your gas cap is not opening.
"If you happen to find yourself in the frunk" 😂😂 I love it, great video great SUV
I love the wheels on this SUV. It looks like a Jeep from the wheels but from the body it looks like a boxier Tahoe
Electric Range Rover!
that blue grey paint is soooo stylish…
For me it's so good to see you back, and with no other than the Rivian R1S. Great!

Hope this will launch in India soon ❤
The car looks amazing EXCEPT for that pill shaped headlights
Love how fast the technology into the electric cars are going
As a upcoming shareholder of this company.
Very excited to see what comes next.
This is a game changer for the SUV future
Ha! The Cake reference at the end was a great touch! :)
Great job with this all around!
glad you got to do this before the major floods.
Awesome review! My wife and I would love to get a R1S in the forest green! Hopefully one day when the time comes 👍
So happy to see you are looking like complete recovery. God blesses you and your family. I really love your videos. Kisses from Brazil.
