    Great video and making sure we don't loose sight of dGPU's when chasing the most power out of the iGPU's. Would love to know the difference with the 890M vs dGPU's, finding the intersection point with Power (Watts) vs Performance (FPS) is fascinating information I didn't know I needed!

      Absolutely! I wish I was looking at this the same time I had the PX13 in-house, as I'm very curious how it compares on that curve! If I end up getting a chance to, I'll revisit.

    Thank you for the good video. However, there is a trick you used to give the video a dramatic twist.
    780m igpu is only efficient up to 20w, and beyond 25w, efficiency drops. But what was the purpose of pushing it to 60w in the IGPU example?
    In gaming at around 20W, where 780m graphics can be good, the RTX4070 cannot use same amount of power. If you allocate 10w to the cpu, you can only allocate about 10w to 15w to the dgpu. This level is insufficient to run the dgpu efficiently.
    It's a good video, but it's unfortunate that the last example isn't appropriate. However, as a heavy user of x13 flow, the tips in your video are very practical and worth applying right away.
    Thank you again. Your surface and convertible devices and egpu.. all of your videos is so so good!

      It's not necessarily me pushing a ton of power to the iGPU, The default Turbo and Performance Profiles using iGPU will push that much power to it, for very little performance gain. The point was to demonstrate at what wattages you should be using the dGPU and what wattages you should be using the iGPU at.

    help! you seem the most knowledgable person I can find on the x13... I tried all of reddit and asus forums. I am trying to optimize my x13 for cs2 (lowest sensible settings). I know that a lot of others are struggling with the exact same problem. The main issue is that while the game starts great at 120fps (I would be happy with constant >80) but after a few minutesa massive fps drop occurs with temporary drops to 20fps. This seems to be due to thermal throttling and coincides with the fan speed decreasing significantly. Tried with custom settings and turbo mode on both armoury crate and ghelper, I also tried limiting the power to the CPU (hoping this would potentially give more power for driving the fans) but the result remains the same every time. after a few minutes the fan speed drastically decreases, moreover the custom fan curves actually seem to not function at all in either ghelper or AC. So far no one was able to solve this....

      @cbutters  24 дня назад

      What GPU does your X13 have in it?
      What do your temps look like? (Especially when it throttles down to 20fps)
      Are you doing anything to lift the chassis a bit to allow better airflow into the bottom?
      Let me know, the answer to these questions, I might have some information that could help depending on your situation.

    • @edeltobi
      @edeltobi 24 дня назад

      @@cbutters wow thanks so much for the quick reply! :) I have the the RTX 3050 ti 4gb, the system has a ryzen cpu and 32gb ram. The temp according to armoury crate when throttling occurs is at ca. 90 degrees. In GHelper and HWinfo I see some lower and some Slightly higher readouts depending on which sensor I look at but they range between 70 and 95 sometimes for the max readout. I also tried adjusting the fan profiles in BIOS but my bios does not even seem to have that option. As I am using the laptop with a gaming keyboard, it is flipped around with open air space above the vents. The idea being that this should allow better potential airflow and brings me closer to the screen. I recently opened the device and cleaned the fans and while it made the overall performance a bit better and stopped random shutdowns, it did not solve the core problem.. I read it a little that the fan speed decreases after a moment and similar to other users I am able to speed them up again by toggling between profiles in AC or GHelper. But that would mean tabbing out of the game every 1-2 minutes and also works with limited success (I.e. does not always toggle speed up). I hope this info helps

    • @cbutters
      @cbutters  24 дня назад

      @@edeltobi Yeah, those high temps even when flipped with completely free airflow and the random shutdowns you had before cleaning the fan that were happening make me think you might need a repaste of that laptop.

      @@cbutters before I go down that route, is there maybe a better bios version with more settings out there? And where would I find the max sustainbable fan rpm for my flow x13? I tried googling that but I seem to arrive at the same reddits everytime. Hard for me to interpret the rpm changes if I don't know what the min/max/target and sustainable max is supposed to be,..

    Heyo cbutters,
    Thanks for all your awesome input! Really good info in this one again!!!
    After watching the video I have some questions, maybe you can help with that; mainly concerning you mentioning the nvidia drivers:
    Would you be able to let us know, which drivers for the device do you recommend?
    Update everything you can? Use the ones windows installed drivers after a fresh install? Install the ones Asus provides on there Website?
    Which Version numbers of the drivers do you use?
    And most importantly:
    Which Bios do you recommend? 316 made my device pretty loud (both fan and coil whine). So I downgraded to 313 again.
    All the best to you and thanks again for your awesome work :)

    • @cbutters
      @cbutters  2 месяца назад

      528.92 is what I use, and it is the driver from windows update.
      regarding 316 vs. 313. I haven't done the legwork for testing between the 2 variants, but if you recommend 313 I may try it to see if I notice a difference. (I haven't had issues with fan or coil whine though...)

    • @sPeedaTze1998
      @sPeedaTze1998 2 месяца назад

      @@cbutters Many thanks. Yeah maybe it is not a problem for all devices, but I also have 32gb 4070 modell and on mine the coil whine was noticeably louder with 316 and my Laptop had a more aggressive turbo behaviour --> fans a little louder on the normal profiles (silent, balanced, turbo).
      And for the other drivers? do you let windows handle driver installs itself completely for chipset and so on as well? I might do a fresh windows install with win 11 LTSC and I am wondering what method i should choose to get the laptop running like a dream (newest I can find, Asus Website or Windows driver install).

    Hmm... time to benchmark my FLOW X13 2022.
    Could you try these efficiency hacks with the PX13 and see if you can increase the battery life?
    If Asus don't have a ROG FLOW X13 based on Strix Point, the PX13 may be a viable option, although it's thicker and heavier than the FLOW X13.

      @@cbutters no worries mate. Let's see what other laptops Asus releases in a few months. Maybe they are waiting for Intel to release Lunar Lake to put in the FLOW Z13. It will be interesting to compare Zen 5c vs Lunar Lake in ROG FLOW. Lunar Lake is supposed to be on TSMC 3nm, which may be more efficient than Strix Point on TSMC 4nm.
