Update after 2 months use: It's best to use their cleaning liquid which does not produce much foam. If the cleaning liquid you use produces too much foam, the foam will fill up the waste water tank and you have to empty the tank before you can continue to vacuum. If you really want to use some other brand of cleaning liquid, find one that does not produce foam.

have you tried the Bissel brands of cleaner? they do not foam (made for the crosswave)
@@viper04afI have not tried Bissel before. Anyway, as long as there's no foam, it should be safe.

For big pieces, it's best to use the dry vacuum first.
