Hey guys, it's Charlotte here and in today's video, we're going to talk about cougars on TikTok! Now, I'm not talking about the animal, but rather the term used to describe older women who are on the prowl for younger men.
If you've been scrolling through TikTok lately, you might have noticed a growing trend of women in their 40s and 50s showcasing their confidence and sex appeal. These women are unapologetically embracing their age and flaunting their bodies, and their videos are racking up millions of views.
But why is this trend taking off? Some say it's because of the pandemic - with many people feeling isolated and lonely, TikTok has become a platform for connection and self-expression. And for cougars, it's a way to feel young again and attract attention from younger men.
Of course, not everyone is a fan of this trend. Some people argue that it perpetuates harmful stereotypes and promotes predatory behavior. But others say that as long as both parties are consenting adults, there's nothing wrong with it.
So what do you think about cougars on TikTok? Are they empowering or problematic? Let me know in the comments below. And as always, don't forget to like and subscribe for more videos like this!

Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I make a joke or two. I love poking fun at social media, weddings, entitled people, tiktok and OF COURSE petty people. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

I'm 37 and my wife is 56. We are about 19 years a part in age. We met in November of 2013, got married a month and a half later in January 2014. Everyone said it would never last because we don't know each other very well, and our age is too much of a gap. Well, here it is 9 years and almost 4 months later and we are still happily married, and loving every minute of it. She was unfortunately diagnosed with brain cancer last year, which truly shook me to the core. But she's doing better now, and fighting with all her might. I love her just as much now, or even more, than I did 9 years ago.
Age means absolutely nothing. Chemistry, faithfulness, loyalty, honesty, and how you two can get along and find common ground is all that matters.

Praying for your wife's health and for you as well. You are so right about age being a number. I married a man just 6 years old than me. When our youngest son was 18 months old, I was diagnosed with MS, RA and Ataxia. He was completely healthy. Five weeks after our 20th anniversary, he unexpectedly died of an aortic dissection. That was the day, that age is just a number and that when it is your time there is nothing that can be done to stop it. We tried EVERYTHING to save him. My brother's best friend, Paul shocked everyone when he married a woman that was 20+ his senior right after college graduation. They have been happily married for 33 years. I am so incredibly happy for them.

Ultimately, I think the key is with age-gap relationships (the healthy ones) is that the younger counterpart is already an established adult, on top of the usual no grooming, no toxic/abusive behavior, etc. (all of which can be seen in relationships without age-gaps as well). Because to my mind, I still see people fresh out of high school and going into college as freshman as kids. They haven't experienced adulthood. They're just embarking on it. And while I'm honestly not that much older than them, it still feels icky because I definitely see the maturity difference that is only developed through experience and taking the time to learn about yourself.

    • @lilscenechick1995
      @lilscenechick1995 Год назад +19

I think that's crucial to a healthy relationship in general, but especially with age gaps. The appeal of older men/women is how established they are and their presumed life experiences. These can be mutually beneficial or they can be used to manipulate and/or intimidate the younger person. I agree with what Charlotte said. 10 years isn't that major (if both are legally adults, of course). Over 20 years of difference is where it gets a bit questionable on a case-by-case basis imo. I also think it's a bit iffy when someone refuses to date people their age, targeting only people way younger than them (i.e. Leo DiCaprio). Throwing in other factors like fame and money definitely makes it seem predatory more than a simple happenstance

I was just out of college when we met, and we met doing something we love, karaoke. We became great friends and then we gave it a try. There have been hurdles for sure, but I'm happily engaged to the love of my life. Neither of us planned it, I pursued her first, I've never thought any different about her or our relationship because of our age difference. And all because we had a love of karaoke, did God bring us together.

I used to get really sad because my mum wouldn't run arround with me and jump on the trampoline like my firends mums would because she just couldn't!
Also having to deal with you mum passing at such a young age can really mess you up! Its been years and I've been though grief counceling but having been a carer for her and seeing her fade and disappear like that still haunts me. Even after all those years it feels like it could have been yesterday

Not trying to disagree here, but isn't that an issue with older dads too? I don't see why you talk only about being sad of older women getting pregnant, it happens much more often that an old man gets a younger woman pregnant, those children experience loss early in life too. Looking at the mostly shorter life span of men in most countries this is much more likely. Also, where I live I see much more men running around and doing other physical activities with their kids than I would see women.

They bought a business together a few years ago (before they were married) and it was all her idea while he supported her. Honestly, people didn’t think my man and I would last because everyone thought I was in my 20s and him in his 40s. I’m in my late 30s and he’s late 40s. We’ve been together 5 years. People still doubt us, but the years keep coming, and we keep loving each other harder and harder. Sometimes it isn’t the amount of years you’ve gathered, but the amount of happy memories and the crushing wave that love can be. Real love only makes you stronger. Makes you feel over filled. Makes it so you spill that love in to other people. Love is a beautiful thing when used right. Sometimes only a few months is all it takes to make a difference. Love happens at the most random times.

I didn’t take him up on it. But for me, I think it is more about where they are in life. I’m established in my career, I own my home, etc. I can’t imagine being attracted to someone 1/2 my age and have anything in common with them unless they were at a similar point in their life. However, if they were, I might consider it. I would say the same for someone my age who was still living with their parents who couldn’t hold down a job, or partying all the time, etc. I can’t see having any kind of relationship with them since I don’t see us having anything in common. So I think that matters more to me than age.

Regarding the pregnancy thing: it’s never been impossible to conceive at an older age for women, however the older you get the higher the risk that the baby will be born with special needs; things like Down syndrome are more common for example. That’s why it is commonly advised to conceive before your 40s, and gets the pressure on women.

The problem with getting pregnant when you are older is that it makes complications a lot more likely and means that your kids will probably have their mum die younger than all the rest of their friends.

@@deedee9835 if you look at individual cases it might not seem like a point but if you look at the overall statistics then it is. The child is more likely to have their mum die younger in their life due to them being older, that is an undeniable fact. My mom was told after several miscarriages when she was young that she would never have kids. She found herself pregnant at 38 and had me when she was 39. She lived to be 80 and got to be the best grandma to my kids.
She said the worst part was being in labor for 3 days. She liked to tease me when I got older that I didn't want to be born until she could get a decent hospital meal.

I married young & had children in my early 20's. I divorced in my mid-30's, staying single for over a decade. Into my 40's I had a lot of younger men coming onto me. It was almost a daily thing for me to get hit on by younger men. I didn't mind men in their 30s or older, but I always told boys in their 20's I don't date in their age group bcuz my kids are in it. 😂 I wasn't necessarily attracted to younger men, but many men in my age group couldn't keep up. I was the type to hop in my car & drive to South Lake Tahoe or Vegas on a moment's notice or fly to the coast & ride dune buggies. One night me & my co-40's bestie went skinny dipping in Lake Michigan under a beautiful moonlit night after a night of dancing & drinking😂 I really was too high-energy for most men my age. So for me, it wasn't really about younger men so much as a person's energy. No regrets; I had such fun🤗

My father was engaged to this older woman that I had known all my life because she was my fathers older brothers wife and her kids were my cousins. I thank the stars it didn’t work out between them and I didn’t end up with brother cousins. Anyway, at 45 years old, she ended up marrying some 19 year old kid a few years later. They had twins and have been together over 20 years now. It’s especially noticeable now that she is in her mid 60s and he’s not even 40 yet.

He wanted an established woman, and doesn’t want children because he doesn’t want to raise a child with all the horrible things going on in the world..Covid, recession, school shootings etc. we share core values, we communicate well together, and we have a lot of the same likes and dislikes. We’ve been together since November 10, 2019, married since May 2021. There’s 19 years age difference. But we get each other… I never expected to be married again, especially to a man so much younger. He was lonely and so was I. We are there for each other and have a happy relationship and life together. We have each other’s back. Peace, joy, affection, and love is what it’s all about for us..🥰

Regarding children: My wife and I have several older friends who tried to conceive after 40. There were two that succeeded, the oldest 42. No one of either our acquaintance managed it after 42, though one of my wife's childhood friend's mother did get pregnant at 42. So that does seem to me to be a harder limit. You hear about women older than 42 getting pregnant, but I think that's because it is so rare that it's news.
Which is all to say you have time, Charlotte. Maybe not as much as you're hoping, but more than enough so you don't have to rush.
But don't get overconfident, either. Everyone is different, and you're not the woman in the video. Don't count on being able to get pregnant in your 50s. Or even your later 40s...

That's very true. I believe the world record for oldest natural pregnancy was 59 or something like that but it's very rare and even if you were to get pregnant there's a higher risk of miscarriage as well as risks genetically like downs syndrome (don't know if i got the spelling right). Although if you still wanted to be pregnant there are donor eggs as an option or IVF you could even try with your own but that doesn't succeed alot, I don't know if you froze your eggs earlier if that would be more helpful. But there are many options now.

Pregnancy is also riskier for the mom and child, and there's a greater chance the parent may die from health related issues before the child grows up.

I had a kid with a guy 17 years older than me. It wasn't good, it was predatory and exploitative and abusive and full of manipulation and all of the things. I was in my early 20's and lost, it just happened.
I think the weirdest thing is knowing that he has a total of 4 other children, the oldest one of which is about 3 years younger than myself. So my child's half-sibling is about my age, and the fact that he started changing diapers, when I was still in diapers...that's just undeniably, so gross.
