You have given me the confidence after watching your videos to plaster. I am progressing and have even had a few paid jobs. But after watching this I realise that even the professional plasterer uses filler and not only me!!!!!!! Great work
Thanks for your videos Blaine, I am a diy plasterer and my finish is now better than a plasterer that we paid in the past. Although not anywhere near as good as pros like yourself. Thanks and all the best Andy
Another great video pal! I'm doing the bedroom for my son, I've been learning from your videos about the plastering! I just finished with the plastering work it was really hard thing for first time doing this and it was really really messy 😂
hi your a great plasterer i have become good plastering watching you but i have been decorating for 40 years what decorators do is thin down pva with water a little of the colour and that seals and gets the dark colour away you should try this hope this helps
I just use a 50/50 water / matt emulsion mix no PVA. whisk that up for a mist coat then apply two coat colour on top, never let me down 👎🏻 👍🏻 each to there own I guess....thanks for video buddy
@@barrybruton4577 Haha, it works out twice the cost for screwfix to water it down for you. Genius! Plus with the screwfix paint it needs two coats. Watered down trade paint only needs one coat, then you are straight into the coloured or top coat paint of your choice.
Brilliant video as always! Love watching them and reading the replies from others. However, getting back to plastering, any chance you could show us in your next video how to get the second coat half the thickness of the first? I am really struggling with this part, I mean REALLY :)
Hi Blaine. Hope you're well? It's a shame you don't live closer else I'd of done that for you. I'm a painter and decorator firstly. Been doing it for years but I'm going through college at the mo to get my certificate. Great job and video as always!
You know what it would have been helpful - I’m very slow at decorating 😂😂 Thanks for the offer. I might have to take you up on it next time Tara!! Thanks again for watching as always
Have you tried One Strike lightweight filler? I get that from Toolstation and it works a treat. No slump and very easy to sand. Shelf life seems pretty good too, but price wise it would be expensive to use a lot of it.
Slow painting is good. When I incorporated painting into my board hanging and plastering jobs, it ultimately made me a better plasterer. Plastering made me a better hanger, painting helped make me a better plasterer. I've seen people ruin nice plastering jobs with shoddy painting. Not everyone can paint, regardless of the ignorant.
The last time when I used a contract matt was about 30 years ago when I bought CT17. In my humble opinion, the worst plaster sealer ( milky staff ) is better than the best contract matt. Sealers are not popular as you have to apply more paint coats than after a contract matt
I USE READY MIXED PLASTER SKIM WICKS OR BQ SANDS VERY EASY GIVE IT A GO U WONT REGRET IT I SAND IT WITH THE MESH ATACHED TO A HOOVER DUST FREE, MESH TOOLSTATION,GYPSOM HAND SANDER WITH HOOVER PORT
@@ryanoldham6005 I see but this is avoided by running the roller quite dry before approaching the edge and any overspill can be mopped up by rollering around the corner. Also, you get and even paint up to the edge whereas cutting in with a brush can leave tramlines, especially with new plaster. Just my thoughts anyway.

Great trick!! Thank you mate and thanks for watching the videos. I really appreciate it 👍👍
This doesn't feel right: PVA is reactivated by water, and all paints contain water.

That’s good to know mate - I’ll look into it if I can’t get any decorators soon ha! Thanks for the advice, hope you’re well!
Could you use a sprayer, or is the brushing important? Some people say add two mist coats?
When you say fine sandpaper what grit did you use? I do cars so fine to me is 4000 grit lol

Good
Thanks
Not quite sure why you felt the need to cut into the corner bead rather than use the roller.
Just for example reasons really mate 👍
Also stops the paint bleeding onto the adjacent wall and leaving a snot down the bead ... Actually good practice
