Thanks Sam that was great to see that machine printing that ammo box! ….and for everyone else…..I had Sam laser my small wood shop logo on some tags so I could more professionally sign my products and I have to tell you all how professional and amazing the product was and his packaging and cards his entire process blew me away! I was expecting nice for sure but what I got was well beyond what I expected! So any one out there needing something I’m giving samcraft 10 star review! 😊
Have you used saved positions in lightburn? It’s a time saver. I put a 90 degree large square top right of laser. Then bump whatever I’m engraving against it. It’s square. Then I have that saved position where my laser knows exactly where the top right corner of say the ammo box would be. Then I have a saved template of the box and boom
Thanks Sam for this great video and your support to small business community, I do have a question... how much you charge for these customized ammo boxes?
Harbor Freight for 50 cal boxes has been the best bang for the buck for normal day to day prices. Cabela's/Bass Outlet, when they have the 30/50 combo boxes on sale is also a decent price point as well.
Am curious - others say to put a clear coat on after you engrave these boxes or they rust - I noticed you didn't mention it. Is that step dependent on the type of laser you use?
While I haven't done any ammo boxes yet, it's on my list of things that I'd like to work with. I'll probably pick up a couple from Harbor Freight next time I'm over that way.
Could you do a video using the P2 to do something metal? I've been struggling with it. I've sacrificed multiple pieces (mainly rfid wallets and budiness cards) trying to dial it in and i just can't get a good result.
Pretty sure you can wash those microfibers in the washing machine (they usually say so on tag, it would probably want to do by themselves from getting fuzzy onto clothes or vice versa) I know you can buy them cheap, but any money you can save and water you can reduce, right?)
Have you ever looked at one of those machines to make your own air pillows for shipping? I don't do any shipping but I've heard they can save you a lot of money on packing materials if you ship a lot of stuff.
I'd also like to the three P2 do something metal. I've been struggling to dial it in. I've wasted multiple pieces doing testing and just can't seem to get it where it needs to be.
Hi Sam, Could you make a video of how to unfocus the P2 to get different results for engraving? I have heard it makes it darker and crisper but I have never tried it and I wouldn’t know where to start. Thank you. By the way you create really great videos.
Sam…Question please…..My wife makes stain glass wind chimes and was complaining about the difficulty of drilling the holes in the glass and breaking bits. Can you tell me would any of these lasers you have tried be able to drill holes through colored glass?? Im thinking it could be the solution to her problem. Thanks
My stores are either Etsy or Shopify based, but it's always been cheaper to use USPS for all my shipping. Edit to add: I buy shipping labels through either Etsy or Shopify -- I don't buy directly from USPS.
Great video. I will say I hate seeing filler material just put on top, I cringe every time. Would rather the filler be spaced bottom and top to help even more with protection rather than just fill. I know it takes longer and that is just my personal preference from a person without a business ;)
Nice :) A thin quick coat satin clear might slow down the oxidation

Great video, thanks! You hit all the points I had questions about, and a couple I hadn't even considered yet. Much appreciated!
I'm glad it was helpful!
May the lord bless and protect you and your family. Love your videos
Thank you so much!
Great video Sam. Grainger has much better pricing on boxes and you can ship to a local store and pickup without incurring shipping costs.
Good video, glad you mentioned the extra in the package. I like doing that, and adding a small wood coaster if I have them. As a Thankyou
Not to knock your jig set up, but another option is to put crosshairs on either side then use the cut and paste feature to line it up.
Can you do a video of your shipping and packaging process? Would be nice to see how you package multiple items and what extras you put into the boxes.

Brilliant! I've not used that feature.... YET! :)
Just ordered a Monport 80w Co2. Gotta try this.
Sam I have found that using the cheap dollar store brand of Fabulouso works really well. I do this with my board butter tins.
Me too. Works well. Dollar Tree gets a lot of my small craft item supplies for my
business.
I sometimes use clean used plastic grocery bags for filler.

Nice to know you do ammo boxes. ❤❤❤❤
Great video! Thanks for sharing! I just made my first one. 😊

I was about to ask the same question. No protection from rust?
I personally put a single coat of clear matte enamel on them. Not because I've noticed rust, but as a precautionary measure.
👏

And you're spot on about the sacrificial test object.. Most customers don't realize you'll need one..
What about protection of the bare metal, to keep it from rusting? Suggestions?

I may have to look into them!
these are fun to do.
Sam can you show us one on the P2? So many of us have that and the F1
I'd be interested in seeing that too.

Will do!
Great and thoughtful video!!
Thank you!
Great work! How do you price these, Sam?
I am so tired, but just wanted to ask if this be done with xtool 40 watt diode by chance? Sorry if you said in video, long week for me.
the beard looks great, brother! and thanks for the content. i'm still a n00b with a diode but having fun with it!
Thanks!
Great, informative video. Thank you.
😊Danke für das Video.
Gute Idee
Great tutorial, Sam! Thanks! 👍👏🥰
You are so welcome!
Excelente gracias

I don't think any of my lasers would work.. they would probably only heat it up to the point of shattering the glass.
Sam, coincidence the first name that popped up was mine. J Richards
Thanks Sam Looks great!😊
Thank you!
Nice!!! Love the box!
Are those engraved ammo boxes for sale somewhere?
They sure are! greenacrehomestead.com :)
I’ve been curious of speed on that laser. For a reference, how long did that engrave take?
Right at 11 minutes engrave time.
@@Samcraftcom thanks for the info. That’s a nice quick laser then. Looking to upgrade before long and just wondered what the speed was like.
Who do you use for shipping? Do you use a shipping company and get good deals or is there a service you use that gets good deals for shipping?
My stores are either Etsy or Shopify based, but it's always been cheaper to use USPS for all my shipping. Edit to add: I buy shipping labels through either Etsy or Shopify -- I don't buy directly from USPS.
You don’t do anything to prevent rust?
