Just my thoughts on how my interests have shaped me socially and helped me mature as I've made my way through high school. I don't own the rights to the music in this video.

The reason why most people especially highschool students don't like metal is because there brain is wired to hear catchy tunes, clean and easy to understand vocals. Metal is like vegetables, most kids and teenagers don't like them and rather eat quick and easy junk food (I do like junk food though). It can take awhile to get used to eating vegetables. When I got into metal, I was listening to system lf a down, metallica, def leppard, warrant because these bands are gateway bands. Then I got into megadeth, slayer, exodus, anthrax, kreator, sodom eventually leading to death metal, black metal, grindcore etc. This is generally why metalheads are rare especially with this generation of music.

Everyone is always judging me for liking metal. I'm a girl and don't look like a metalhead, so there always like "but you looked so nice" And you look awesome so don't think otherwise
I'm extremely lucky to go to my high school. My best friends are metalheads and play instruments like me and I know many extreme metal listeners at my school. People are also scared of me because of what I listen to (and my height) because I'll walk into school wearing a Toxic Holocaust shirt. People also view me as not smart, even though my grades have been above or in high B's. I can feel you in that way because I've always been judged by what I listened to since I was a toddler (yeah I was listening to AC/DC and Black Sabbath as a little kid).
NeffGladiator yeah my dad got me into metal when I was in my 2s and 3s, playing all kinds of ad/dc and other older metal bands which made me evolve into the extreme metalhead I am today. I've never been seen as stupid because of the music I listen to, the thought process of that confuses me, like thinking for yourself and being your own person not following the flock makes you stupid? Like c'mon!
Hi Morgan, I am starting my sophomore year in high school this fall. I am a metalhead, and I have a hard time finding other metalheads at school. One day, some kid came to me and said "Rock music sucks (A word), listen to rap", and I said "Listen to Queen, I guarantee that you will love it." He said "(F word) Queen, (F word) Metallica, (F word) Beatles, and (F word) you". He made me very upset. All I could find in my school is people who listens to pop/rap. Nobody else is a metalhead besides me and my 9th grade science teacher.
Honestly, not one person at that school's opinion of you matters. Do what makes you happy. It's cool to have a metalhead teacher, though!! Cherish that!

I have always worn different metal shirts in high school, and nobody really made bad comments. My metalhead friends all love those shirts. I also don't care about what others say about me because I was bullied when I was younger. I was just an easy target. I just learned to stand up for myself, and not to care. I have always loved metal music. It is so grounding to me. I am autistic (which I don't mind), have high anxiety, depression, have OCD, ADHD, and metal has really helped me express myself, and deal with the hard times in my life. I am done with college, and have been since Fall of 2023. One of the ways that I connect with people, is through music. I find the stuff we have in common. My friends are all open-minded. Many of them are metalheads, or the ones that are not metalheads, don't mind that I listen to metal. I was a metalhead through my life, from a very young age (through my dad, who started me out young). Anyways, that's my life story, kind of.

High school isn’t the place to find metalheads friends, I’ve finished high school 2 years ago and since then I’ve made other metalhead friends although we don’t listen to the same genre of metal. Im into Thrash/death/Black metal. One of my friend is into Nu metal/ death metal and Power metal. The other friend I have is into Prog and Melodic death.

I'm one of the only metalheads in my highschool, I do get shit on occasionally from other kids asking me "is everything ok at home?", Calling me emo (they can't tell the difference between metal and emo), calling metal just noise, and the cookie monster gibberish making fun of the vocals. I don't really let it bother me as they're only on the outside looking in, sometimes a few kids have tried to at least understand the music, but for the most part the rest stay ignorant and repeat the same jokes and insults about my taste in music. I try talking to other kids who seem to be into metal but it's kinda hard when the extent of their knowledge is Slipknot, Metallica, and Deftones, where as my interest is more in slayer, toxic Holocaust, Evil army, skinless, Darkthrone, etc. Not bashing them for not being as into the music as I am, it just gets a little lonely when you don't have people to talk to about the music you're most passionate about.

I'm the Original Guitarist from Nuclear Assault and I can tell you for me growing up in the 70s it was all Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin then Judas Priest but was there at the beginning of Thrash Metallica and Slayer I was the few listening to this type of Music before both these bands got more mainstream I brought the albums to my friends party and everyone there would complain and also accuse me of being Evil and a Devil worshipper and it got worse when Black Metal and Death Metal was Unleashed of course Mercyful Fate , Venom, Bathory all scared the Daylights out of everyone back then but nothing stopped me I know Metal has always been more popular Overseas and here in the USA everyone is just Brainwashed by Commercial Media So I know what your going through but be yourself and listen to what makes you Feel great about Yourself!! 🤘🤘🤘
i have one freind who i talk to about thrash, death and black and have grown and learned from eachother. there are a few core kids and one thats between the extreme and core sides. i enjoy only having atleast some one who i can discuss this shit with. my metal freind are a few online, one in person and my brother who gave me my roots in metal and gave me my fav band, which is behemoth. Ive grown and learned much from metal and my metalhead freinds and cant imagine were i would be without it. At this moment i am halfway through my sophomore year of highschool
Some of the people I know are really level-headed and open minded. As a freshman, it surprised me a lot when a few of my friends said they didn't mind listening to Encenathrakh.
I'm a fan of extreme metal but I don't like to let people know about it, because I don't want people to think I'm "weird". Most people either like rap or pop at my school. It sucks.
Yeah it's the same for me aswell, being the only person into heavy music (mainly prog stuff, which puts people off even more) it's difficult to have a good social life as I have pretty much nothing in common with my friends which usual means outside of school I'm never invited to their party's or anything. But as you said it's given me somewhat of a thicker skin and I can tell who I would like to associate myself with just by having a short conversation with them.
well, in many moments i feel like i drown bc noone in school is like me... sometimes it's difficult bc i have to deal with all that bad jokes about my music taste and all this kind of things... it sucks. i dont see the metalhead thing as a disadvantage in high school as long as youre still cool. People know what i listen to but nobody cares. It just sets me a part from the rest a little more which only sets you back if you let it

Im 14 years old I usually get treated like shit because of my music taste saying I belong in a cage or people say im mental just because of something I like I try ignoring them but they still want my attention such as pushing me or grabbing me in a mean way but I try to stay cool about it.
maybe i'm out of touch or maybe its just my environment but ive never felt ostracized by being into metal. I just started wearing a battle vest/ dressing more metal the past year or so (which is my first year at college) but even then I havent noticed a change in the way people react to me or view me. I sorta just assume people dont talk to me because of my being quiet but maybe it does have something to do with metal who knows
Dude i can totally relate i meet metal heads all the time but they usually end up being core people and never understand shit like cryptopsy and dying fetus and sometimes dont even know them. I usually get along with punks and rock kids better than the metal heads. I only really have one friends who understand extreme metal.
As long as you're not being treated unfairly by school officials you've got nothing to worry about when it comes to your love of metal. Oh and even if you are getting in trouble because a certain school staff member is biased well FUCK THEM!!! I'm glad I just discovered your channel and you're not alone. You have to fight in school and that's that.

Me: Easy, that's the music I've been listening to since as long as I can remember. Besides that's nothing compared to how extreme most metalheads tend to go for. I would let you delve deep into death metal and grindcore, but it looks like even the majestic power metal is too much for you. Though on a side note, I got to sing a metal song for my school's show just a few weeks ago. The song was The Islander by Nightwish and I even wore a kilt to help with the authenticity of my performance. I surprised alot of people, more so because I was singing and less because of the song itself, which none of the surprise being on the song choice is admittedly a bit surprising in itself. I have two more years of school left, so assuming there's at least one talent show each for the next two years, I gotta find something and fast. If I can do multiple performances, I will. Say for dancing I could do Lucky Star, Kyoukai No Kanata or Hare Hare Yukai from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, A duet could easily be The Other Side from The Greatest Showman or some sort of power metal ballad like Kamelot's The Haunting or Phantom of The Opera or What Have You Done by Within Temptation.

I'm the Original Guitarist from Nuclear Assault and I can tell you for me growing up in the 70s it was all Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin then Judas Priest but was there at the beginning of Thrash Metallica and Slayer I was the few listening to this type of Music before both these bands got more mainstream I brought the albums to my friends party and everyone there would complain and also accuse me of being Evil and a Devil worshipper and it got worse when Black Metal and Death Metal was Unleashed of course Mercyful Fate , Venom, Bathory all scared the Daylights out of everyone back then but nothing stopped me I know Metal has always been more popular Overseas and here in the USA everyone is just Brainwashed by Commercial Media So I know what your going through but be yourself and listen to what makes you Feel great about Yourself!! 🤘🤘🤘

i have one freind who i talk to about thrash, death and black and have grown and learned from eachother. there are a few core kids and one thats between the extreme and core sides. i enjoy only having atleast some one who i can discuss this shit with. my metal freind are a few online, one in person and my brother who gave me my roots in metal and gave me my fav band, which is behemoth. Ive grown and learned much from metal and my metalhead freinds and cant imagine were i would be without it. At this moment i am halfway through my sophomore year of highschool

Some of the people I know are really level-headed and open minded. As a freshman, it surprised me a lot when a few of my friends said they didn't mind listening to Encenathrakh.
I'm a fan of extreme metal but I don't like to let people know about it, because I don't want people to think I'm "weird". Most people either like rap or pop at my school. It sucks.
Yeah it's the same for me aswell, being the only person into heavy music (mainly prog stuff, which puts people off even more) it's difficult to have a good social life as I have pretty much nothing in common with my friends which usual means outside of school I'm never invited to their party's or anything. But as you said it's given me somewhat of a thicker skin and I can tell who I would like to associate myself with just by having a short conversation with them.

well, in many moments i feel like i drown bc noone in school is like me... sometimes it's difficult bc i have to deal with all that bad jokes about my music taste and all this kind of things... it sucks. Definetely i need somebody like me in my life, or simply ignore everybody who don't understand me as well. But yeah, that was a really interesting video; this days i'm so much into that "problem"
i dont see the metalhead thing as a disadvantage in high school as long as youre still cool. People know what i listen to but nobody cares. It just sets me a part from the rest a little more which only sets you back if you let it

Im 14 years old I usually get treated like shit because of my music taste saying I belong in a cage or people say im mental just because of something I like I try ignoring them but they still want my attention such as pushing me or grabbing me in a mean way but I try to stay cool about it.
maybe i'm out of touch or maybe its just my environment but ive never felt ostracized by being into metal. I just started wearing a battle vest/ dressing more metal the past year or so (which is my first year at college) but even then I havent noticed a change in the way people react to me or view me. I sorta just assume people dont talk to me because of my being quiet but maybe it does have something to do with metal who knows

Dude i can totally relate i meet metal heads all the time but they usually end up being core people and never understand shit like cryptopsy and dying fetus and sometimes dont even know them. I usually get along with punks and rock kids better than the metal heads. I only really have one friends who understand extreme metal.
As long as you're not being treated unfairly by school officials you've got nothing to worry about when it comes to your love of metal. Oh and even if you are getting in trouble because a certain school staff member is biased well FUCK THEM!!! I'm glad I just discovered your channel and you're not alone. Me: Easy, that's the music I've been listening to since as long as I can remember. Besides that's nothing compared to how extreme most metalheads tend to go for. I would let you delve deep into death metal and grindcore, but it looks like even the majestic power metal is too much for you.
Though on a side note, I got to sing a metal song for my school's show just a few weeks ago. The song was The Islander by Nightwish and I even wore a kilt to help with the authenticity of my performance. I surprised alot of people, more so because I was singing and less because of the song itself, which none of the surprise being on the song choice is admittedly a bit surprising in itself. I have two more years of school left, so assuming there's at least one talent show each for the next two years, I gotta find something and fast. If I can do multiple performances, I will. Say for dancing I could do Lucky Star, Kyoukai No Kanata or Hare Hare Yukai from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, A duet could easily be The Other Side from The Greatest Showman or some sort of power metal ballad like Kamelot's The Haunting or Phantom of The Opera or What Have You Done by Within Temptation.

I'm a metalhead since my birth, I was listenning to metal when I was baby, I have seen rammestein when I was 4 so stop it please. It's in my vein in my blood nobody can change it. And yes I'm wearing black and band's shirts but it's because I love it ! I'm in black all the time, my clothes are black, my hair are black, my makeup is black but it's just my problem and no I'm not a witch or something like that !
