Lilith Lithium there's this guy at my church(yes I'm religious but I'm still a metal head) who wears his battle jacket to church and I'm the only guy who will go near him. He has a very interesting story as well. He went on tour with slayer as a backup drummer. It's sort of weird befriending a guy at least 40 years older than you but I'll talk metal with anyone who wants to talk metal. He's a cool guy
Seriously think about it, band shirts, the ones of us that have long hair, normal hair, or even no hair at all, studded belts, denim and leather, battle vests, electric instruments, cult following, etc. All that is extremely cool, but TOO cool! Too much coolness in one sitting can cause society's rejection. The jocks don't even have that!
Here's another great thing about being a metalhead. You actually, for the most part, feel accepted and welcomed in the Metal community, since a lot of Metalheads and Metal artists were treated like outcasts, and the Metalhead community is where people can feel like they belong.
I definitely agree!! Even if it's someone I just met, if one of us is wearing a metal shirt or something then conversations will start and it feels like we've known each other forever. And I've never been rejected from the metal community, I love it. :D

I think the best thing about being a metal head is showing people that Metal isn't about violence, but more or less empowerment of the listener, and showing people that Metal Heads aren't as bad as everyone says. During high school, people would come up to me all scared, but after I explained why I listen to such brutal and extreme music, they understood, and some of the popular kids even started listening to bands like Lamb of God, Pantera, Slayer, and even Vader and Obituary

Ever since I was a kid I listened to rock music like Nickelback and Skillet and Last year I all of a sudden started listening to Linkin park then I thought to myself I wanna go heavier so I moved from System of a down and now I love all sorts of metal I love Five Finger Death punch Slipknot Disturbed Amon Amarth Sabaton Iron maiden Metallica ect. I'm a pretty avid metal fan but I'm an oddball rapper. All your pro's here definitely apply to me as well, especially being super into rap. What initially started my passion for metal was a music technician I had worked with who was actually in a band himself. Through working with him we had managed to make some interesting metal infused glitch-hop beats during our breaks and that was enough to set me on the path to more metal!

1) Long hair: yeah, it really helps, women with long hair also stay warmer because of it and in summer hair can also protect you (at least a bit) from the sun rays. If you put it on your arms and shoulders and you just took a shower, it feels so fresh and it makes you feel cooler. Plus, you can always put it in a pony tail if it's too hot. 2) Sleveless shirt: true, I've been there. It's practical. 3, 4 and 5 true, I love it when people just come to me and ask me where I bought my tshirt, you get to meet really cool people. Cd's collection and trading, yeah. Wow, I love metal.
I was on Systembolaget one friday this August wearing a Necrophobic t-shirt (with the text Svensk dödsmetal...Swedish death metal, written with a gothic font) that I just had bought on a metal festival (Gefle Metal Festival) when someone padded me on my shoulder, I didn't know what to expect when I turned around and took out my earphones, but it was a nice rocker (maybe more into rock and perhaps heavy metal than darker and more brutal metal) who complemented me on the nice t-shirt. We spoke about metal in general, booze and beer and other nice stuff while picking our favourite liquids.:) I live in a suburban municipality south of Stockholm (Sweden, as you metalheads know) where there are some alternative people, but perhaps growing fewer than in the general Swedish population...or maybe because I am older now and don't hang out in Haninge that much, more in bars and pubs closer to Stockholm City.:) I also experience that people tend to pick other seats before they sit down besides me, and it is not because of me taking more space than regular people (well, I am 6'1 and 3/4, 234 lbs, so I am a rather big guy). Keep on rocking in the free world (well, also if you live in countries where it is illegal, no countries mentioned and no countries forgotten)! :P
Hrm, Systembolaget like EVERYONE KNOWS...sry, Systembolaget is where stronger alcoholic beverages can be bought, the Finnish equivalent is Alko or LCBO in Ontario (if I am not mistaking). A governmental monopoly, but the opening hours are more free than in Oregon (USA), here we can buy alcohol until 8 pm in some stores during some of the weekdays (normally 6 or 7, I guess). 20 years of age is the age limit.
I can't seem to grow long hair or a go-tee, especially now that I'm going into the Navy, but I can definitely agree with you on everything else you said. Especially the CD collections and meeting other metalheads. It's amazing. I didn't realize just how awesome it was talking with other like-minded people for so long. I had been into metal for almost six years before I went to my first metal concert. I went to Amon Amarth in Lawrence, Kansas in May and I felt so at home simply talking with people who loved metal as much, if not more than I do. And to give an answer to Lesha Uchiha down in the comments, it's like our great RUclipsr here said, just buy some band shirts and shit and cut the sleeves off. I do that with more than just my metal band shirts because I'm obsessed with the Grimm Reaper and I like wearing Grimm Reaper shirts, but I also like the entire sleeveless idea as well. So yeah, just buy your shirts and if they have sleeves, just cut that shit off.
You forgot to mention that us Metalheads are some of the most intelligent people. Most of us have high IQs and can hold our own in a debate...not to mention Metal music is some of the best out there when it comes to lyrics and melody. Creative as all hell :D
meeting other metal bikers, i fucking love making friends who love metal as much as i do and love riding harleys, its always fun riding with others to gigs and concerts or even to a local burger joint, motorhead, judas priest and pantera are the best choice to listen to when riding your harley
I love having long hair. I'm growing it even longer and I love that when I meet metal heads its just like a little family. Its awesome :) I find new buddies every time I'm at metal shows.
My sister got me into metal. She was in high school, and i was just in 7th or 8th grade. Friends lent her CDs, and we'd chill in her room and check them out. Cannibal Corpse scared the shit out of me the first time i listened to them xD I had no idea people could sing like that, and i couldn't understand how people could appreciate the lyrical content xD Fast-forward almost 10 years; a year or 2 ago, we flew from our northern Ontario hometown to Chicago to see Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse. TBH, i was mostly there for Behemoth (and because my sister gave me a ticket for xmas), but the CC pits were insane! \m/
I love the sense of community, tons of people come up to me and ask me questions about my shirt or battle vest or randomly throw up the horns. Probably my favorite thing about being a metalhead.
The cd collection is definitely an awesome park! I've only got around 10 right now but also don't have a record store near me so I have to scrape buy with what I can find at Walmart or bestbuy since I'm too cheap to buy them offline and pay shipping. But possible my favorite thing about being a metal head is the community. My best friend is 3 years younger than me and lives half way across the country but we became friend over our Mutual love of metal and old tools. I'm the metal community nobody is a stranger. Just friends we haven't met yet
I can completely relate. I prefer to be independent mostly, and people tend to shy away when I have my earbuds in. It's nice when people don't flock around you constantly, and metal is a good wAy to keep people at bay.
The right song can get you pumped or whatever mood you need adjusting for, and I was listening to Van Halen before I was a teen. By the time 2000 rolled around I could listen to the rest of my mom's collection (Priest, Maiden, AC/DC) or Ozzfest line ups like Coal Chamber, Slipknot and Godsmack. GWAR thanks to Beavis and Butthead, totally.
I think a Fucking Awesome thing about being a Metalhead is going to the concerts. I love seeing My favorite bands, along with some other bands. It moves Me deep within My Black heart to see people Moshing with such Energy.
Its good for me because for girls that dont listen metal they do like how i dress is like they like the bad guy or something like that.another thing is like whe i was 16 yo i had a fight against a guy bigger than me in that time fortunately i had my spikes around my wrists so whe he got me i knew i could got beaten up so i started to punching in the back whit the spikes finally he left me and hes t shirt was conplete destroyed n everyone was laughin about him.
ozzy was the first metal band i heard growing up. i was 12 or 13 when i first started getting in to metal, I'm 20 now and 21 in October 5. i would say ozzy got me in to metal, no one that i know personally talked to me about metal. as i was listening to ozzy i started searching other metal bands, and saw there were deference types of metal. i started soft regular metal, and ended up getting in to metalcore and screamo. no i wasn't always a metal head till i ran across ozzy i was a pop kid.
Haha yes, long hair is very practical for our Canadian winters. Lots of times I don't even wear a toque. And I love meeting new friends because of bands I love! :-) I have made a lot of online friends because of comments on band/ artist posts on Instagram, and I met one of them in person because we arranged to meet down in Texas for an Apocalyptica show (My second Apo show, and her fourth). It was amazing. :-) And by the way, Sonata Arctica is great! ;-)
A friend at school got me into death/black metal got me listening Cannibal Corpse Cradle of Filth Fear Factory and I really fell in love with the darker side of metal afterwards
I don't remember specifically what got me into metal but there are some factors such as playing Guitar Hero and my friend's in junior high mentioned slipknot to me and I liked the show Metalocalypse that starred the band Dethklok on adult swim.
I was born into metal. My parents are both metal heads. One thing I like about being a huge metal head is other metal heads. If someone likes the same sub genre of metal or even an entire genre of metal or even a completely different one then you can get talking and as you said suggest albums to each other and bands even. With people who like the same music as you like the same bands then you can talk about members you like songs you like past members you are sad or upset about them leaving the band for what ever reason. So if short what u like about being a metal head is other metal heads
cool vid as always! so me and a buddy were outside in the night and sat at a table in a school yard. than we listend to some metal. suddenly i start singing a little on a giutarr solo that was in my head. my friend also started to sing it but None of us could remember which band and song the solo were from. so we tried like an hour trying to figure out were it came from. we thought it were from amon amarth. but than suddenly i sang a little of the text and we realised that it was a solo from the song *Ragnarök* by the power metal band *Stormwarrior*
My personal favorite is seeing a band that you hate live and they're amazing live, I saw Memphis May Fire (Not a fan) live at a festival and they blew the roof off the fucking place
One of my co-workers gave me a list of bands that he liked, after I asked him what Metal he could recommend. Of course, I was already into Iron Maiden, Deep Purple (some people consider them Metal, apparently) and a lot of 80's Rock, so Metal wasn't completely foreign territory. Anyway, he gave me this list of bands that he liked, and I started listening to each band on the list on Spotify, because I'm not a big fan of just buying music without knowing what it's like first. So I listened to those bands, and there were a lot of awesome bands on that list! Sonata Arctica was one of the first I really got into, because like you imply, they're kinda soft. The list then got heavier and more aggressive with every name on it, and at a certain point, I started to reach Death Metal, and the way this list was written, Arch Enemy was the first Death Metal band on the list. And I thought "Ah... Melodic Death Metal? That doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but I'll give them a chance", so I put on the Most Popular tracks by Arch Enemy, which started with "War Eternal", and I was just hooked right from the start! And after that, the list just got heavier and heavier. So yeah, asking another metalhead for recommendations is a GREAT way to get into metal, or to discover new metal bands that you may not already know. Spotify is great for that too. These days, I listen to a lot of different music, in several genres, because I like to mix it up a bit (and I know lots of metal-heads who also love to listen to different kinds of music, not just metal).
the other thing is that metal that is like iron maiden. or metallica it really goes good with having fun. me and my band cruise around the beach. to metallica. avenged sevenfold and other stuff. i know you may think avenged sevenfold is metal core but its what my metal band does on our spare time.
I met and older guy in HMV who said he seen Iron Maiden because i looking at cds and i was like i want to see them in Glasgow and i seen that he liked Saxon and me and my aunt and this older guy spent a bit talking about iron maiden
i totally agree ,i was at the mall yesterday and i was listening to metal then i happened to be looking towards the door.a dude came in with long hair and i gave him the \m/ he gave it back then i realize he was a metalhead ,we talked that was awesome .his name is logan cool dude
Another good thing about: when you're rocking out public you will get one of two reactions, people look at you weirdly thinking you're gonna break your neck in a minute, or the more common one of the two, people see it, ask what you're listening to, try it, and encourage you to keep going. It's a little awkward for me yes but I still don't mind.
You missed the most obvious one:
You get to listen to the best music in the world.
YEAH!

Metalheads: Too Cool For Society Since 1975
Seriously think about it, band shirts, the ones of us that have long hair, normal hair, or even no hair at all, studded belts, denim and leather, battle vests, electric instruments, cult following, etc. All that is extremely cool, but TOO cool! 20 years of age is the age limit.
that moment when you're 13 and you have loved metal/rock since you were a little kid. thanks mom for taking me to awesome concerts!
Yay! Another Maiden fan.
Love your videos Blackmetal Werewolf. Up the Irons!!!

The more you know...
My dad got me into nu and alternative metal
Spectre exactly
Two Iron Maiden posters on your wall, plus a shirt of them. IRON.... MAIDEN..... FUCKING..... EVEYWHERE!!!!
I love the moment of opening a package and seeing a fresh new patch inside
your channel is growing really fast jesus. 3000 subs in past day or so
Very sick maiden merch man, new sub and saw a couple of your videos very cool keep rockin' man! \m/
meeting other metal bikers, i fucking love making friends who love metal as much as i do and love riding harleys, its always fun riding with others to gigs and concerts or even to a local burger joint, motorhead, judas priest and pantera are the best choice to listen to when riding your harley
Makes me feel immortal. And scares the old people. Double plus
YOU got me into metal bro
I love having long hair. I'm growing it even longer and I love that when I meet metal heads its just like a little family. Its awesome :) I find new buddies every time I'm at metal shows.
Love the shirt, bracelets, and posters
My sister got me into metal. She was in high school, and i was just in 7th or 8th grade. Friends lent her CDs, and we'd chill in her room and check them out. Cannibal Corpse scared the shit out of me the first time i listened to them xD I had no idea people could sing like that, and i couldn't understand how people could appreciate the lyrical content xD
Fast-forward almost 10 years; a year or 2 ago, we flew from our northern Ontario hometown to Chicago to see Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse.
The fact that you stand out from the crowd when your in town . You end up looking unique and distinctive .
Reason 1: helps keep me warm
Reason 2: sleeveless shirts, aka keeps you cooler than sleeves
I can completely relate. I prefer to be independent mostly, and people tend to shy away when I have my earbuds in. It's nice when people don't flock around you constantly, and metal is a good wAy to keep people at bay.
And one more :
You got the Best spirit burner for Workout songs in the world..
Metal chicks or stoner metal chicks rule!
I think a Fucking Awesome thing about being a Metalhead is going to the concerts. I love seeing My favorite bands, along with some other bands. It moves Me deep within My Black heart to see people Moshing with such Energy.
ditched my girlfriend of a year, bitch was listening to rap/hip-hop I said Hell no you listen to slayer and you fucking like it! :)
sk sk Was that a Corey Taylor reference when he did a Loudwire interview about how pop music is insulting?
Cosplerikanim All hail Master Corey! Lol
Funny because I`m a metalhead, but I have short hair, regular T-shirts, and I dont wear battle gear, but the latter two are relevant x)
bitchgetoutmybussiness same
I have leather punks jackets iron maiden tee shirts and hoodys and ther great wearing them the punks biker jackets are cool
When you are really really really pissed off you can just SCREAM
331Erock and PelleK got me into metal!
can i lent your pantera cds?because im broke(n)
Ha i see what you did there!
i can lend ya. just wait 5 minutes alone
You're gonna have to take a 'walk' to him if you want those CDs
he lives by the cemetery gates
But be careful when you walk there, the cowboys from hell lives there too
one big thing i love about metal.its the community we are all brothers
... and sisters
Something I like about being a metalhead is a lot of other metalheads are really accepting and it's a great community
:-) And by the way, Sonata Arctica is great! ;-)
Dude same I love looking intimadating!
A friend at school got me into death/black metal got me listening Cannibal Corpse Cradle of Filth Fear Factory and I really fell in love with the darker side of metal afterwards
I hear ya on #5! I have a small and growing collection of East coast (almost entirely Halifax) local metal. always down to share em.
I don't remember specifically what got me into metal but there are some factors such as playing Guitar Hero and my friend's in junior high mentioned slipknot to me and I liked the show Metalocalypse that starred the band
Dethklok on adult swim.
So if short what u like about being a metal head is other metal heads
swapping CDs is how my friends and I got into it we listened to it all but mostly black and death
cool vid as always! so me and a buddy were outside in the night and sat at a table in a school yard. than we listend to some metal. suddenly i start singing a little on a giutarr solo that was in my head. my friend also started to sing it but None of us could remember which band and song the solo were from. so we tried like an hour trying to figure out were it came from. we thought it were from amon amarth. but than suddenly i sang a little of the text and we realised that it was a solo from the song *Ragnarök* by the power metal band *Stormwarrior*
Sleeveless shirts are the best part.
i got into metal after playing guitar hero 3... *sigh* ohh the memories...
totally agreed ..
I met and older guy in HMV who said he seen Iron Maiden because i looking at cds and i was like i want to see them in Glasgow and i seen that he liked Saxon and me and my aunt and this older guy spent a bit talking about iron maiden
I love how everything in this video is *iron maiden*
I want my entire bed room to be covered in maiden stuff, but then there would be no room for Ozzy Osbourne... frick
#5 is the best by far. Almost 1000 cd's and no intention of slowing down :)
Dude, you're totally amazing, totally awesome, I think your great!!!!! Just had to say it, so yeah :)
Old rockers/metal heads look damn cool. The best granddads are the ones with a long beard, bandana and a Harley :D
i totally agree ,i was at the mall yesterday and i was listening to metal then i happened to be looking towards the door.a dude came in with long hair and i gave him the \m/ he gave it back then i realize he was a metalhead ,we talked that was awesome .his name is logan cool dude
