    I did a road test on one with 200 kms on the clock on Monday. I would say it's an easy ride, no nasty surprises but enough fun to keep you smiling. The seat I'm not so sure of, comfy enough for the two hours I was out but any longer I reckon a stand up or two might be necessary. I do have a 70 year old backside where the upholsery has worn!!! Quick shifter is a delight when your brain gets used to it being there. The vibration is noticable but not too bothersome, mirrors are brilliant can see all you need to. first time I have ridden an adventure bike. It's a do all bike, get you to work and out at the weekend for a relaxed blast. Not a bike that any weight would be even noticed. Balance this by understanding I ride an MT10, even so, there is plenty enough go to have fun. Really surprising bike. If you are in any way curious about it I agree get a test ride. Bikes are like shoes, a very personal choice, try this one for sure. Quality is great.

      @@FarmerTorque the only small thing I forgot is I found the throttle twist grip small. Must have only been a tad kess than I am used to. Could be fixed with an aftermarket grip? Not sure if that would work. The cruise control help. but I found my hand wasn't comfy. Small beef.

    I think Triumph are on to a winner here, as regards the TFT it's a big improvement, not sure about the RPM format, and I don't think it is as good as the BMW TFT. Hopefully we will all get to ride our bikes again soon after lockdown. To you and all your followers, KEEP SAFE.

    Thank you for this video and the video of the Rally Pro. I live in Chiang Mai Thailand and recently test rode the Rally Pro which I really enjoyed but will test the GT Pro in a few days time. I own a 2019 Street Twin and am very happy with it but want a more touring bike here in Northern Thailand. I was also looking at the BMW F900XR but BMW here is really limited in it’s service, parts and reach. Your video of the GT Pro is very helpful. I have only been riding for 2 years now and the Street Twin is my first motorcycle. The Tiger will be my second :)

    Excellent review Farmer, most comprehensive one made yet on the GT Pro as opposed to the Rally Pro that everyone else seems to prioritise over this model. It will be very interesting to hear how they compare in your experience but I can't help thinking that this GT is the better option for most people. Lets face it, nether are bikes you would take down a green lane by choice.I also think the GT looks better with it's black forks and less blinged up appearance but I am probably alone on that! Nice intro music by the way, worked well!

    Ah yes, perhaps we should consider the new Tiger similar to a fine single malt? While it has aged, it’s still quite youthful; despite Euro 5 its velvety notes remain heavily influenced by Old Blighty but now there’s certainly a hint of sunny Thailand; Churchillian cigar fog mingled with ginger and cherries? Clearly, this new offering from the Triumph Distillery is ripe enough to enjoy now, but it still has room to grow. That said, for the full effect, rather than a quick demo-gulp, it’s best to see, swirl, sniff, sip and savor the new Tiger and decide for yourself: Is it a new classic or a potboiler?

    My '15 XRx is my 3rd Triumph triple so that makes me a bit of a fanboy. I'm happy as a clam with my current Tiger. Of course, if someone comes by with a pot of money, it will be hard indeed for me not to give this T crank motor a try... I cant wait to get out on my GT Pro. I am just admiring it in the Garage whilst we are all in lockdown. Only real disappointment is that the bluetooth doesn't seem to work on my bike. I am told this will get sorted at the first service when ever that happens. Having previously owned an Africa Twin DCT for a short time I am very impressed with the weight of the Triumph. It steers with greater ease and the quick shifter is a joy to use. The daytime running light is really bright. Its also nice to know that their is an IMU for cornering abs. I need to get out and put some miles on her :)

      HJM1974 Mr HJM, is the rider triangle of the GT pro as large as the Africa twin? do you find your knees a bit more bent than the AT? I’m currently the owner of a 2017 AT, but will look at the GT pro closely once it arrives in USA.

    • @HJM1974
      @HJM1974 4 года назад +2

      Old Timer The Africa Twin is a great bike. However, if your not the tallest of riders it can be a struggle. I personally find the GT Pro a much better fit for me at 5’7. I also find the braking and front end of the bike more confidence inspiring on road. You just need to jump on one and see how you feel. If your looking for a bike that comes with all the bells and whistles it’s a good choice.

    What made you swap the 1250GS for the Tiger 900?

    • @FarmerTorque
      @FarmerTorque  4 года назад +1

      I didn't Paul ! - I sold the 1250 last summer - it sat next to firstly my Speed Twin, which became my current Scrambler 1200 - The GS keys just sat in the box unused. I have kept promising a 'why I sold it' video for ages and under-delivered!!!!
      Right , I'll do it next week or so.
      But in the meantime If I were choosing an everyday do anything bike today - the Tiger GT Pro is top of my list. The big heavyweight adventure bikes have become to big and don't need the power/torque they have. Exactly the same has happened in cars - nobody needs 500bhp plus in a road car - madness .....in fact with most driver ability, dangerous.
      Will do the vid :)

    I own the GS1250 but i took the Tiger 900 GT Pro out for a test ride the other week and was well impressed with it. Loved the heated seat and the quick shift (which is better than the BMW IMO) But it failed my three-strikes rule, but they're nitpicks...Adjustable screen , not that adjustable on the move...Side stand too far back...F/pegs too central and i find i have to place my foot at the rear or forward of the peg when i come to a stop & or course it had to be chain driven. Price is good and has lots of toys as standard and i would definitely check it out again if i was changing bikes. But for now, the GS has the edge for me.

    Well, as you know, I have been banging on about the BMW 850GS for a while now, :-) on the basis that they are more fun to ride than the heavier 1250s etc. Still a great bike, but the new 900 XR is definitely worth a look now too. The XR is obviously a pure road bike compared to the 850 GS, but nevertheless, a comfortable 'adventure' style riding position and seemingly a good all-rounder / tourer too. An extra 50cc or so on the 850 GS motor, probably not a bad thing either. Not sure if the 900 XR is built in China (as per the 850 GS)? That being a negative in my mind, as I would much rather have 'proper' 100% German engineering than a Chinese product. I think the 850/900 segment is the way to go, unless you are well over 6 foot, heavy set and/or touring 2-up regularly.

    Thanks Farmer; nice video. Triumph please offer us a Tiger 900 GT with tubeless spoked wheels; then a lot of riders (like me) would really be very interested in buying one. Why: Because a lot of riders prefer 19 inches front wheel to have more fun in twisty roads, but still prefer tubeless spoked wheels & because the Rally model is a little bit to tall for shorter riders. Best regards.

      completely agree with @Trekky Delirium. I'm not the tallest (5'6") and the GT Pro is a good height for me as I can nearly flat foot it. The Rally & Rally Pro however are unfortunately far too tall for shorter riders like myself (sat on one in the shop). I know rally type bikes need more ground clearance for obvious reasons, but it would still be nice of Triumph to make a LOW version of the Rally in the near future. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Many others would too. Great review @FarmerTorque. You gained a new subscriber ;)

      Hello Trekky - that doesn’t sound right to me if you took two ‘average’ people at 75kg plus riding gear 10kilos each - not much left for luggage - The dash clearly shows two up with luggage as an option - I simply don’t believe it’s not fine to take two sensible people plus hard luggage and top box - it’s what the bike was made for !!!! I will not be surprised about that,since the rear subframe is bolt on aluminum, all new adventure bikes are low weight, but the trade is less load capacity, my bmw f850 gs adventure is heavy, but is probably the only real option for 2 people and luggage!

      Simon Goddard Totally agree! I still have my Trident 900 purchased from new and a Tiger 1050. I really think a 900/1050 roadster will sell well. The Speed/Street triples are great, but no good for two up distance work and I’m not a great fan of the adventure style bikes!

    • @simongoddard8490
      @simongoddard8490 4 года назад

      Andy Page think the success of the Enfield Interceptor proves there is a demand for more basic machines. Think a new simple Trident version would sit nicely between that and the great looking but unnecessarily over electronically complicated and overpriced Speed Twin.

      Simon Goddard - There’s 9-10 options of modern classics. I wish they would dial that back to only 3 options and make a dual sport bike or two....I wanna see their 75 hp single.

    I test rode this bike and fell in love with it very quickly. I’m upgrading from a sports bike. I’m still curious your thoughts on the off-road capabilities of this bike and how it compares to the F850GS. Whilst we all aspire to go off-road, the reality is that we are mainly commuting to work or have other things in our life than those off road adventures aren’t as often as we would like. As an every day bike what would you pick between the bmw and this bike?

    • @FarmerTorque
      @FarmerTorque  4 года назад +1

      As an everyday bike I’d go with the Triumph - you may have seen my thoughts on the rally ? Basically my thoughts are because so few actually go off road, then you should choose a bike that’s good on road ! Simple as that really - I guess I should make a video that explains my experiences?

    • @thinknumbers7718
      @thinknumbers7718 4 года назад

      FarmerTorque thanks for the advice. Yes I’d love to see a video on what you suggesting. We want a bike that is both practical and fun, yet so many people go for features they’ll barely end up using and enjoying

      FarmerTorque do you prefer your scrambler 1200 or the Tiger 900. Which one makes your happier to ride on a daily basis? I’m deciding this week as I’m trading in my sports bike and kind of torn which one to choose next

    • @FarmerTorque
      @FarmerTorque  4 года назад

      Really tricky one, as you know! Simple answer is I prefer the Scrambler - but it would need to be ( and really can be ) customised as I am doing. A Scrambler to your own spec is a pretty special bike...by any standards. But if I had to have one bike to do all, then I’d go for a 900 GT Pro - better in all weathers being the main reason - but boy would I miss the Scrambler

    • @thinknumbers7718
      @thinknumbers7718 4 года назад

      FarmerTorque thanks for the advice. That’s the battle I also share, practicality vs admiration. The scrambler looks like the perfect bike to have fun, it looks and sounds great. But maybe it’s more of the weekend bike than a day to day workhorse that can handle whatever is thrown at you. Plus there are the freeways which the 900 would be more comfortable....hmmmm

    Great review of clearly a great bike. However for me the thing I don't like is the high exhaust can. It's right where the soft luggage would hang and where the pillion can touch (yes I know they would be wearing gloves). I would have had it lower.

      Horses for courses. I take mine off road a low exhaust would be a nightmare for water crossings. A small rack would keepbpanniers off the exhaust but that's more money and more weight..

    How tall is it? How tall are you? This white one looks really nice too! Alot of my riding buddies ride Bmw GS 1200/1250. Ive tried the 1250 kinda felt too big and heavy for me. How big is this compared to the GS 1250? Im only 5’ 6” should I go for the GT low version or the standard GT? Have you tried the low version? No reviews on youtube yet so far. Maybe you can try one? Thanks.

      @STIjojoSTI I am 5'6" with a 30" inseam. I am waiting for delivery of a Tiger 900 GT and didnt even buy the low seat option that takes the seat height down to 790mm. I found the GT low to be too low. Go along to a Triumph dealer to try one, I'm sure they'll be helpful to find the bike to fit you.

    Great review. If it had shaft drive it would be a great alternative to the big GS. The audio on the bike was fine, and I'm not sure the problem in the workshop was the mic. I don't know how you record, but it sounds like it was going through a compressor which was squeezing the audio, or a really aggressive audio limiter. If you don't process the sound then it's obviously not that :-0

    Interesting comments you made about the outgoing 800 as I found it a bit bland TBH when I tried one. SWMBO didn't like it either on the back and for her the 1200GS was the far better option being far more roomy and comfortable so being a good husband I went with that LOL. I'd be interested in hearing what you find about the 900 as a 2 up touring bike and how it copes loaded up with a pillion and luggage against the opposition if you could sort that? One thing that's often overlooked is the payload, the 1250GS is 216kg so is well capable of taking the rider, pillion and full luggage but Triumph don't quote it for the 900 on their website so I don't know what it is.

    • @FarmerTorque
      @FarmerTorque  4 года назад

      Fair question and don't know the answer! my guess is the Tiger will be a pretty good pillion bike, but will try and check......one day :(

    • @Bazza47
      @Bazza47 4 года назад

      @@FarmerTorque I think it would make an interesting video as pillion suitability and luggage capacity is something that is largely over looked. I remember seeing either a video or reading an article in one of the bike mags some time ago comparing a number of similar bikes (think they were large adventure bikes but I'm not 100% sure) and it was quite shocking the difference in payloads between them which most wouldn't even think about with IIRC one of the Japanese bikes only having a payload of around 170kg, so even with an average sized rider and pillion by the time you included their riding kit there would be no capacity for any luggage or topbox and panniers at all while other bikes in the test could carry the lot without any problem which given they were all around the same size/capacity was quite surprising.

    Here's the thing. 95% of people can't ride a BMW for a few days, a KTM, a Triumph and ponder the merits of. They need a.....'this is the one.' An informed choice. Not a ' this would be in there.....um...maybe?' 😉

F800r f900r s1000xr s1000rr r1250rs all refreshed design. The big issue is it looks like a headlight has failed. Even the new Kawasaki ninja 650 has twin both working LED headlights. And it looks like the new Africa twin now has both lights for dip and 2 more for main beam.(the first af twin lights were poor)
