This also fell into my recommendations and I realize I still haven’t gotten over the death of my cockatiel, Tito. I was only 8 when I got him; he was a birthday gift from my parents when I kept asking for a dog or a pet that was more huggable than a fish. At first I wasn’t too thrilled, Tito bit me, hissed; I had never been around birds prior and still had no idea how even treat him let alone train him. One day, I was eating bread and without warning he flew to my shoulder for a nibble. I was stunned, realizing not only did he know how to fly but how to get out of his cage on his own. From there the bond was built and the trust and love only grew. I left LA three years ago, and in that move Tito was supposed to come with me and since we were upgrading houses, he was supposed to get a big beautiful upgrade too. Unfortunately we had to wait about six months before moving in, and I had left him in my godmothers care. The depression from being moved to a new place, and no familiar faces was probably a huge toll on him. I tried to visit every weekend I could to make sure he knew I was still there, but maybe it had not been enough. The very last time I held him he was crying; making the weirdest noises and all all cuddles, he snuggled inside my jacket and his in my hair; and cried when I left(I assume it was crying, it was a noise I had never heard from him before) He was 15 years old and still my baby when he passed. I was devastated and it still bothers me, three years later. If you made it this far, thanks for reading, I guess I wanted to share my story of my little feathered son; and how I loved and adored him. Edit: Thank you guys. I really didn’t think anyone would read all this. I wanted to add he also had a little wife, Tita but she had passed a few months prior maybe already starting his depression. I got him a new companion; Hedwig but he wanted nothing to do with her. He definitely had feathered friends but I think he just wanted me. He was loved more than I can express, I will miss our morning whistles, him screaming in excitement when I came home from school or work; the way he crunched with me when I shared my sandwich crust with him. Tito was the greatest, Tita too. ♥️
You really can’t just store a bird inside another house so quickly, if he has nobody else; especially you, he’ll get stressed and eventually die. Every time you left him alone, the stress built up, knowing he was alone.. it’s important you get at least two because stress will kill them. ;’(
My budgie Ramsey died last week, he was less than half a year old and he also loved apples. In fact, it was the onky fruit he willingly ate. May Denny and Ramsey eat apples together :)
My poor baby bird died 3 days before New Years all of the birds in the cage with her mistreated her. She didn’t do anything about it. And she died because one of them hit her and she was too weak to go on perches. I’m sure Ramsey was very good bird god bless you😢🙏😭

): my lovebird died on October and I’ve still been struggling to get over his death, and I saw this video in my recommended today. I underestimated the impact a birdy can truly leave on a person when I first got him, but we bonded and it was amazing. I remember how I would read posts and watch videos while holding him that would be paying tribute to the birds that have passed under their owner’s care, I remember thinking how awful it would make me feel to have him pass, I’d pet him and be happy he was still there with me. I still miss him so much and hope we can cross paths again in the next life. Birds are by far the best little guys out there

): my lovebird died on October and I’ve still been struggling to get over his death, and I saw this video in my recommended today. I underestimated the impact a birdy can truly leave on a person when I first got him, but we bonded and it was amazing. I remember how I would read posts and watch videos while holding him that would be paying tribute to the birds that have passed under their owner’s care, I remember thinking how awful it would make me feel to have him pass, I’d pet him and be happy he was still there with me. I still miss him so much and hope we can cross paths again in the next life. Birds are by far the best little guys out there

I know the pain and heartache when you lose a pet you love. I myself a few months ago lost a pet that was very dear and close to me. My cat. I know it's not a bird and mine are still alive, but anyway I know how you feel. You feel empty, sad, and lonely. My Little Guy used to sleep with me, but now my bed feels empty. Your heart hurts for a very long time. Nothing will ever replace the pet you lost, but from I've heard getting a new pet doesn't replace the original, but instead honors them. You share the love that you gave to Denny. I wish you all the best.
