  • Illinois man Bradley Yohn, who is representing himself at trial, presented his opening statement Tuesday and attempted to rebut the state’s claims against him. The 36-year-old claimed the prosecution’s opening statement was false and just “theatrics.” Yohn stands accused of carjacking, kidnapping, and sexually assaulting 77-year-old Christine Schmitt during a home invasion in November 2021.

@@VasehollyI don’t believe narcissists necessarily lack intelligence as much as their intellect is halted by narcissism. Though I’ve never met an idiot that didn’t think they were a genius, an otherwise intelligent narcissist will appear less intelligent because his or her inflated ego is so irrational. I’m not talking about this particular case. This is simply a dumb narcissist. However, one can be intelligent enough to make millions while being narcissistic enough to lose every dime almost immediately. They make stupid decisions because they feel untouchable.

Why do people seem to think the death penalty is a greater horror for the defendant than life without parole? I'm not gonna get into the sociatal ethics of the death penalty, but to me, I have always perceived life in prison as a greater punishment than a (fairly) quick death. Granted, death row inmates often sit years and years before being executed, so maybe the thought of waking up each day knowing the end is drawing closer is the greater punishment, idk.

LMAO. The story about his brother (11:55) likely involved him, himself - either as the one who hit his brother and him ending up being a violent person, or him in the role of his brother whining to his mom and ending up not being believed and him becoming resentful. And that story indicates that at least one sibling was accused of lying, which could've been pervasive throughout the family and resulted in him being a frequent liar (like he just may be here). Plus, his analogy implies that, for a battery to occur, marks need to be present - sometimes batteries don't leave marks... or marks don't show up for hours or days, so his argument is flawed. ijs

I've seen worse from pro se defendants. Nonetheless, this was still pretty bad. Started really bad, ended ok.
The faces the prosecutor makes are priceless! The remote/lack of marks story 😂

Jury isn't hired. They're selected and then vetted at pretrial to ensure they're not partial to one side or biased. I think what you were trying to say or what you meant was that if he was selected for jury duty on a jaywalking case, that he'd not only vote guilty but would recommend the death penalty if such a miniscule offense was a capital offense lol. You're not wrong. I bet he would too. I think you nailed it right on the head lol.
