It's been a couple years of consistent medical, and dealing with the medical system. I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through and so relieved you survived this ordeal. Also shout out to your stepson. His presence and 'ride or die' is a testament to how much of an awesome guy you were to him.
I usually don't post comments on videos but needed to share my love for you sharing this Ryan. I can't believe you went through this and excited to hear the continued story and progress you make through this!
Ryan, haven’t seen ya in quite a while. Had no idea you were going through this. I’m a long time friend of Dona’s from Seattle. You’ve been to my parent’s house on the lake. So sorry you are dealing with this. Sending 🙏🏻 and ❤ for your recovery.
People in the medical field are overpayed and need to learn customer service. If you are paying them tens of thousands of dollars there is no excuse for that treatment.
Every single person I know who has had spinal surgeries has come out worse than they started. I will never let them touch my spine again. Glad you’re ok man!
Mine is much better since the surgery, but I had it at the cervical spine and I‘m from another country where medical treatment is priceless. Because of that I was able to stay in the hospital, under observation, for 3 days and nights after the surgery.
Doctors bury their mistakes. Glad you’re around to share this story such that people can be aware of the dangers associated with putting your entire trust into the hands of any medical staff.
Doctors don’t bury their mistakes. There’s a hole host of procedure that is followed pre and post ‘mistake’. The fact is even the most simple things can go wrong. That’s why you sign a release, it and your doctor explain everything. Don’t be so dense
Literally, it’s their job to perform life-saving procedures when any preventative medication or therapies or interventions aren’t done by the patient before they need surgery so quit being such an alarmist. I’d rather go see a professional any day.
I'm having my first go with hospitals Dr's etc for last 4 months. Things are such a coin flip. Some people are doing a job, some care, but its been such opposite ends of the spectrum the care is incredible. I wish they all did. Because the other half it's hard to want to keep facing it. I'm just glad you and your infectious laugh are still around. I hope all is well.
< Life ruined by lumbar surgery. If you have lower back issues I highly recommend you find training with weights that put zero pressure on your lower back. Nothing involving lifting weights off the ground etc. Assisted chin/pullups, chest press machine, tricep pushdown, assisted dips, back row machine etc. Eventually you will be able to do chinups etc unnasisted. Really helped me strengthen my back and the pullups etc help stretch your back. Tens machine and inversion tables help too.
Back surgery is always risky. My uncle had a few fused in his neck and woke up with no sense of feeling in one of his pinkies. I have a tenant who had a couple of ruptured disks in his back, he woke up with no feeling in his legs. He can walk but he has to be careful. Risky
Never schedule any medical procedure for a Friday. Accidents and errors go up as the week progresses. They're just humans and by Friday they are more likely to be tired and rely more on "auto-pilot".
Blood Clots plagued my dad his whole life. And in the end its what lead to countless strokes and what finally killed him. Glad this all worked out and I hope for a healthy rest of your life. Love the Honeydew!
Currently listening to this at work in Blood Bank (laboratory scientist) who knows exactly about your blood condition and I work here as a Critical Care RN as well and get these train wrecks. Interesting as hell. Hate this happened to you dude.
When I was 29 I had a clot and it caused a stroke you’re lucky that didn’t happen I still have complications 15yrs later it’s wild. I best your on blood thinners indefinitely. 🙏
Maybe a little different but i have had several nose surgeries in the last 2 years. Each doctor told me they knew what was causing my issue and would help me, and it didnt. now ive had 4 surgeries that didnt help, essentially not needed, and struggling. I feel like a nose surgery junkie and thats how im treated
@03:15 Man, you're lucky you're not an addict who's in recovery... I have urinary retention issues. It's mostly from kidney stones but a lot of the drugs I was on can cause it as well, & maybe some prostate issues but I'm not sure. It used to be a lot worse, but it still happens from time to time. So, back when I started the recovery process, it was brutal. The nurses working *did not* give a fuck, & had to deal w/junkies trying all types of shit to get out of piss tests all day. In 1 of the offices, the rule was that if you couldn't go w/in 3 minutes they had to stand & watch the pee leave your dick/vagina for the test to be valid, which is just insane. It used to take me 2 minutes just to get going, & a lot of the time it was like as soon as I'd start to feel the urge to piss it was _"Time's up."_ as soon as I was about to go, then 1 time they said _"If you can't go in 2 minutes youll have to go to the hospital & have a cathider put in, or we can automatically fail your test."_ & i was like _"Then fail the test, 'cause im not doing that."_ & i found out later she was full of shit & just didn't want me to mess up her schedule, so 🖕🏻🧔🏼♂️🖕🏻 that lady. Every 2 weeks I had to do this shit. You can not imagine the amount of anxiety I would get sometimes having to go piss in front of a stranger in 3 minutes flat. Nowadays the office I go to therapy & counseling in is more up-scale, less strict & I can pretty much go, immediately but every now & then, if for whatever reason I just don't have to go, that old sense of panic creeps back up on me & I swear I have some form of undiagnosed PTSD (piss test stress disorder) from the mean-ass unforgiving nurses that just did not give a fuck, & treated you as if you were nothing but either a liar or inconvenience to them or both, but I guess when your job is watching people piss all day, it's understandable.
Never heard of one person who was happy with their back surgery. I’ve had lower back pain for close to 10 years. I would actually never get surgery on it…it could be psychosomatic & it’s not debilitating enough to take the risk. Steve Kerr had back surgery; they accidentally lacerated his spinal cord & he hasn’t been the same since.
Dam! Ryan I'm glad your here.I'm having breathing and ready to pass out spells. I hope your feeling better soon. The wait in the hospital is ridiculous! It sucks, when you have alot of different mefical issues going on at the same time.🥝😷
I have factor V Leiden too!! Multiple DVT's & PE's.. I've had so many doctors try & give me nitroglycerin. I guess it's more likely that a relatively healthy 30yo having a cardiac event than a PE for the 4th time..
Ryan. I'm 24 I had a back injury at 18 requiring back surgery. Also had a failed first surgery then had second surgery that worked. I understand type of pain.
Let me tell you from personal experience. When it's friday at the end of the day and you're the last procedure, they treat you like they're cleaning the kitchen to go home. They want out!!!!! You are about to have an unpleasant experience.
I hate it when the host has a story or somebody has a story and the other person has heard it or something but the story is for us at the moment the listener and the other person that knows the story already is just like, "yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah" I'll dismissive and rude anytime but especially rude because it rushes the storyteller and I don't know the fucking story
this literally happened to me a few months ago with lung surgery, except they took me down to the depths of the hospital and left me there, without a phone or a magazine, for like 4 hours before i got my turn. pure evil.

Love you Ryan! Sorry you went through that, and glad you're still with us ❤️

Glad you're still here with us Ryan. I loved the new special!
So glad you're still here! Thank heavens!
Love you Ryan! So glad you’re feeling better. Blessed ❤👍🏽💯
I could listen to you tell stories all day
What a crazy story! Glad you're doing better Ryan, much love brother🙏
Ryan Sickler’s laugh is infectious, 😂. I laugh when you laugh.
Go behind on pods, but knew this update was coming. Glad you made it.
Doctors bury their mistakes. Glad you’re around to share this story such that people can be aware of the dangers associated with putting your entire trust into the hands of any medical staff.
400,000 preventable medical deaths in the US annually.
I’m a Surgical FA, you have no idea.
Doctors are just humans too.
Doctors don’t bury their mistakes. There’s a hole host of procedure that is followed pre and post ‘mistake’.

"If he dies...he dies" is legendary! Hilarious ad lib
Of course, Ryan. You’re like me, what goes wrong happens to the best people. You’re one of the best people.
Can't wait for the special! How about a podcast run for promo??
Feel better dude!!
Bruh...we love you. We want you to be here. Really hate to hear you going through that. Praying for restoration.
glad you still here sickler!!

Wow glad you're still with us brother
Didn't expect a random ghost encounter in the middle of all this crazy shit lol
I had foot surgery in august - it was supposed to be “simple” too and there were complications. It sucks! Hoping things get better for you ❤
I had no clue... really hope you get this all sported out. We can't lose one of the funniest people alive!

The *Dew* is so sweet in the morning. Sickler and modern medicine collide again!
Holy sh*t, Ryan! So glad you're ok
Never schedule any medical procedure for a Friday. Accidents and errors go up as the week progresses. They're just humans and by Friday they are more likely to be tired and rely more on "auto-pilot".
Christ, Sickler... Glad you made it through all that.
So happy you are okay Ryan. Only you could make this story hilarious.
What’s the point if we can’t laugh. Lol I’ve laughed to the point of crying at funerals. Only one laughing 😂
Glad that you’re here to tell the story.
SICKLER LIVES🎉🎊🍻💭✌
Did this make anyone else cry? 😢 Dang this hit me so hard.. I don't know you Ryan but I am so thankful that we still have you. ❤
Glad you’re ok I’m looking at this surgery right now I’m trying to schedule my work and with the drs as to not miss to much work
Blood Clots plagued my dad his whole life. And in the end its what lead to countless strokes and what finally killed him. Glad this all worked out and I hope for a healthy rest of your life. Love the Honeydew!

Interesting as hell.
Hate this happened to you dude.
Omg im so sorry Ryan, you need to sue them for negligence this is ain’t right
Frightening story glad you are ok 🙏🏽
That not my emergency line got me fucked up with the truth
When I was 29 I had a clot and it caused a stroke you’re lucky that didn’t happen I still have complications 15yrs later it’s wild. I best your on blood thinners indefinitely. 🙏
bet***
One out of four patients at a hospital are injured by the hospital itself
Daniel when he visited Ryan: “so does this mean mancation is canceled?”
You should have asked Tom for his surgeon 😂. Glad your doing better sicklecell
And this is why I've never gotten my back work done. The you'll either be perfect or Fudged there ain't nice middle and I can't afford more time off
God damn its good to know youre here with us after this dude.
Jesus, man. That's rough. Glad to see you in the chair telling it.
Thank god you made it
Same thing happened to me. 4 surgeries later I’m still in more pain than ever!
I have that factor 5 thing too, but no one has ever bothered to tell me what it really is...Hope you're feeling better. ..
Glad you pulled through Bro. That's horrible
If any of those surgeries have made your nose issue worse, please consider speaking to a lawyer that specializes in medical malpractice.
This is hysterical. Life is funny, isn't it
that was a wild ride for 14 minutes!
"Give me the nurse back here that needs the hours" lovely gem
That’s crazy I’ve also got factor 5, factor 5 causes clotting issues, and I believe both parents have to have it to pass it on to the children

"That's plenty."
My backs a absolute mess but iv not heard one good back surgery story 😔 last resort type shit 😂 my brother didn't believe me but he believes me now
Take care of yourself I had a spine fusion from L 1 to my pelvis
poor proper planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on mine!
I wish the best for your health!
Dam! Ryan I'm glad your here.I'm having breathing and ready to pass out spells. I hope your feeling better soon. The wait in the hospital is ridiculous! It sucks, when you have alot of different mefical issues going on at the same time.🥝😷

Wtf bro!!! Im glad ur doing better!
I could imagine how hungry you were waiting for the initial surgery. Glad your ok Ryan
Ryan. I'm 24 I had a back injury at 18 requiring back surgery. Also had a failed first surgery then had second surgery that worked. I understand type of pain.
Did you survive?
Let me tell you from personal experience. When it's friday at the end of the day and you're the last procedure, they treat you like they're cleaning the kitchen to go home. They want out!!!!! You are about to have an unpleasant experience.
Bring me back a nurse with a car payment 😂😂😂😂
I hate it when the host has a story or somebody has a story and the other person has heard it or something but the story is for us at the moment the listener and the other person that knows the story already is just like, "yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah" I'll dismissive and rude anytime but especially rude because it rushes the storyteller and I don't know the fucking story
I’m 29 I had a heartTransplant last year . If you want some crazy ass stories hmu 🤙
Your failure to prepare is not my emergency.
Words to live by.
I’ve had 5 lumbar discectomies in the last 12 years. I’m 28. They told me to get older before they fuse me. Take care of your spine folks.
👀👀👀
That shadowy figure was checking on his package before taking it back w/ him…
this literally happened to me a few months ago with lung surgery, except they took me down to the depths of the hospital and left me there, without a phone or a magazine, for like 4 hours before i got my turn. pure evil.
I'm never having back surgery. Like, if it's life in pain or back surgery, it's life in pain
Is that the white Eric Griffin? I’ve had 3 major back surgeries 😢they didn’t work, my last op was a 9 hr one putting nuts and bolts in me. Fun times.
Damn- I'm sorry this happened to you, man. That's so scary. 😨
You saw the shadow figure?
I just had major back surgery 3 days ago and I’m basically paralyzed shits awful
Looks like the microdiscectomy that I had awhile back.
I never do surgeries on fridays or mondays
The exact thing happened to me except when they threatened the catheter I called the bluff…. She was not bluffing
"Gimme someone back here who has a car payment" LOOOOOOOOL.
Blue state?
The figure wiggled your foot and went to the left....... what if its LEFTY!!!
No one has a positive back surgery story. It's a nightmare that only results in more surgery.
Stop confirming and affirming and creating the issue the pain ....please only affirm blood flow and a miracle healing✨
You can't spell Sickler without Sick.
Good to know stand your ground they hurt you more
HOW THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW WE GET TILAPIA!
So what happened? Did he die? I hate cliffhangers!
Gimme the nurse that needs the hours 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Goddamn man
Aunt went in for back surgery and hasn't walked since , she walked in and rolled out . She cursed that doctor up and down the halls of that hospital.
Dude, it looks like you had your tail removed..
my uncle had something just like this with his back. Hope it works. it didn't for him..... Love ya.
