Holy shit this is exactly what I wanted when I heard drew had a show on their platform. I passed and laughed for about a minute straight when Tom described telling his mom about cartel murders.

I do the same thing to my mother that Tom does. I make it a point to be over the top, talk about taking drugs even if I don't do drugs, just to see the disapproval in her face. Hilarious. Means you're an adult and you got over it. Don't need her approval anymore. She still slaps my shoulder and calls me an idiot and I love it. She's opening up to knowing me for me. Cool guy.

First of all Tom must pay the guy laughing so well. And he’s much needed and great. But two. The idea that his dad just calls him with these stories is just comically amazing.

Perfect ending. Between this and 2 bears one cave you can see Tom's genuine joy when he makes someone break. It makes me understand how a comedian is a different form of addict. Great feeling. It's his chasing the dragon. I always wondered how on paper the amount of work a comedian puts in vs reward (for most people cash) was worth it. Don't get me wrong, insane work ethic writing the material, bombing, and the grind of the road definitely prove a comedian deserves to be there but there HAS to be an addiction element to it. I typically feel irritated by hearing doctors psychoanalyze people but Drew is pretty good just at making connections through his experience. Tom is a psychopath but just enough so he’s still sociable.

When Tom talking about how Latins have to act at the table when eating hit me so hard from my upbringing. Money didn’t mean anything but respect and manners at the table differentiated how you were viewed in a particular class
What Dr Drew says about Status in Latin America most of the time it's true status it's displayed by manners and education if you don't have that and youre wearing a Rolex or driving an European car people label you as a son of a drug dealer or you're some shadowy political figure or you're laundering money and middle class and up will ostracized you. Both of these guys are great and smart, so it blows my mind that Tom considers Drew's analysis as such a genius revelation. His schadenfreude and laughter as a rejection and "fuck you" to social mores & standards of decency is the most blatantly obvious conclusion ever. I'm astounded Tom was so blown away by it. Can anyone give me the context on how Dr. Drew is on YMH channel/network?
He was a guest a few times on ymh and was popular. He does several podcasts on Adam Carrola's podcast network.
Since his show on CNN was cancelled he's doing more of this sort of thing.
My guess is he's trying to appeal to a wider audience than just the A.C. crowd and this platform allows for that.
