Lived in Round Hill (Loudoun) and Middletown VA (Frederick) 2006-2011, Havre de Grace MD (Harford) 2011-2017. Now in Florida, retired near Daytona and do not miss VA/MD! No state tax, vehicle/emission inspections and no snow! Also, when we moved to MD, it was the only state to have a tax on the rain!!! Despite all of the taxes and tolls in MD, the roads and bridges were in terrible shape. Thanks for the video.

Thank you for mentioning the rising tick issue! No other video that I have seen has acknowledged this. I've been in the DMV since '89 and used to really enjoy camping quite a bit. But the tick issue nowadays is rather alarming. We need those 'normal' winter seasons to come back to help with the tick issue.

I live in Loudoun county. It’s awesome here. The cost of living is high but just about everyone makes a lot of coin.

Housing expense is mainly expensive in Northern Va. Otherwise, food and transportation are not too expensive. I don’t normally use toll road. However, traffic is bad bad. Metro, VRE, MAC train are more efficient

Wow sounds like actually figuring out mass transit would be such a boon to the entire area!

You can take Metro if you want to go to DC but a lot of people just move from one suburb to the other for work

You know the federal government is bloated when the most affluent areas in the country are surrounding its capital.

Much of Washington side was swamp land. Wild rice used to grow there by the Potomac.

Anything north of The People's Republic Of Charlottesville is overpopulated with northerners who loved the beauty of the area or DC hangers on. Consequently these northern counties are a liberal stronghold whereas most of the remainder of the state is conservative. State and national elections are always exciting!

Must cross either Chain Bridge or Key Bridge to get to DC…. Crossing other bridges tends to be complicated…. Too bad it’s a beautiful place otherwise.

I am living S. Cali. just learn about the car property tax in VA. Never hear of it in Cali. So people in Virginia have to pay besides of registration fee, on top of it, pay property tax as well. That's too much to own a car. I thought CA taxes everything and heavy. I am thinking about moving from CA to Virginia, now I have to take a close look at it.

unless you buy a 80k car the cost to own is relative low. also jobs here exceed cost of living
