I love these videos! Absolutely love kicking back, relaxing, tea/coffee, with Godot open and just being in my perfect universe for a while. I'm with Godot for life now, so these videos are just awesome! What a brilliant future - I am very very excited!

Sheesh we need more CEO's like Jared. I love how he handles the legal aspects in such a fair way. Super cool!

I'm puzzled on how you defined the share between devs and artists There is no reason to put a role above the other, I can only see it as time = % share.

I just hope this game engine becomes easy for the beginners especially when it comes in coding, I am still struggling 😔. I hope they could make a system where we dont need to code and can make a beautiful game out of it.

If you truly want beginners to use this than I would suggest you explaining some of this like you would to someone that has never used Roblox or steam to create a game. I.e. saying 30% revenue share. Does that mean you keep 30% or the devs and artists get 30%.
You have a marketplace where you keep 10% of sales.
You are trying to force people to use revenue share. I understand that your thinking behind forcing people to use revenue share is to get more artists on the platform.
Quote from video "You won't actually make any money using your own assets that pull is actually there regardless".
If this is the case why would anybody straight up buy assets from your market place? If someone were to use their own assets do you keep the additional 20%?
If you want us to "own" our own creations why would you disincentivize people from buying assets from the market place so if they decide to export their game from the Mirror they would have to go buy assets somewhere else and recreate the game.
All of that being said if this moves in the right direction I think it can be a huge win for the gaming community.

Looks quite interesting but.. is it possible to target mobile or only desktop/laptops? Are you able to publish to other ‘stores’? If not able to use Steam, AppStore and PlayStore… your chance of success is close to zero as far as I can understand.

From my understanding, you can make a build of the game and put it on steam

Yeah, sad to see visual scripting go away, it's very useful.

Okay talk, but Q&A really disappointed. They looked like they really tried giving out exact answers and either turned the other direction or just stopped the answer in the middle. It could be that they are afraid to make expectations, but i personally don't think so given how they are transparent in the talk. Very suspicious

Repackaging Godot wholesale and selling folks into a marketplace where the company creams off the top, just sounds.... yeesh, plain awful. Wonder how many other startups have been poaching for ways to squeeze money out of an open-source community :(

I can't help but be worried that Godot leadership is already taking money from this company: "Our (Godot) forum is now teaming up with The Mirror... This partnership is a big win for this forum. It means we can invest more into improving and expanding our platform." ... quoted from -exciting-partnership-news-welcome-the-mirror on the forums

Any fork of godot must opensource that's how MIT license works doesn't it?

    • @azi_and_razi
      @azi_and_razi 9 месяцев назад

Nope. MIT requires from you just to include original license terms in your product (e.g. About view). You can keep your modified source code closed.

You are confusing it with GPL.
