I bought mine new in July 2021 on the promise of great resell value and excellent workmanship. Neither is true, not even close. I sold mine in July 2023 at a little over half of the purchase price and that is with I several upgrades,230ah lithium battery, 2009w inverter, monitor for remote work, huge rise faucet and weboost. During the 2 years, floor has to be replaced due to faulty glue. Shower pan leaks has to be fixed. Bathroom wall start to separate from the body. We didn't used it as much as we would liked. Totally not worth it.
$60,000 rents a lot of hotel rooms. Really nice hotel rooms that include all the maintenance and none of the head aches. My wife and I thought it over - even visited the manufacturing location. No thanks.
100% agree! We thought very seriously about purchasing an RV last year (Class C) but after evaluating the upfront investment, ongoing maintenance and ownership costs, in combination with the nightmare that COVID was to the quality and after-market service for the RV industry, we opted to use those funds for hotels over the next decade. We travelled over 32,000km last summer in our comfortable, reliable F150 with our dog and woke up every morning to a “free” continental breakfast and a hot shower. We also came to realize that some RV’s, specifically Class C and bigger limit where you can go, for example, we drove the Needles Highway last summer which features over 14 miles of switchbacks, pigtails and tight curves, climbing over 2000 feet in elevation; a drive that would have been impossible on our Class C. Yes, we won’t have an “asset” at the end and all that cash will have been spent, but the emotional cost of RV ownership, especially in the post-COVID era is well worth the investment and in our opinion, the right choice for us.
The difference is when you check out of your hotel room, you have nothing to show for it. When I check out of campground, I have my Basecamp still. That's if I even go to a campground.
I bought a ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL 2013 Rockwood Roo 23ss travel trailer with huge slide out loaded with everything and only used by previous owner 5 times in excellent condition for $15.000.00 !!! Look up my camper! Never buy anything New!! Also I bought a 2002 Red Corvette with 18k original miles Mint!!! $20k !!! God bless...
One thing I think would be helpful for a wet bath is to have a teak wood foot insert that could be taken out when you shower so that when the shower is done, you don't need to dry it all out in order to use the restroom without getting your feet wet. Just put the insert back into the floor and you have a dry place to put your feet when using the toilet.
Nice little trailer. I do have one concern with roll-up cabinet doors. The backs are open, so if stuff shifts, it could keep the doors from opening. A better design is to have a half wall in the back that the doors go behind.
They are, but this redesign where they roll straight back in grooves may be the fix. We have the 2019 and our doors roll-up inside. One door in particular (front right) has warped some and is difficult to slide up and down now. I would prefer this new design. Much smoother opening & closing. ☹️
In the early 1960’s, we had an Airstream that was almost exactly like that….yup, they brought back the old model with an upgrade…oh, but there was once a propane tank and hand lit gas heater when ya first enter the door on the right in that lower cabinet area….miss it so much…..it was great….we would pull off the road and mom would cook the mid day lunch while the kids and dad would play in the fields and explore…..🥰 great memories…..
"Mom would cook the mid day lunch white the kids and dad would play in the fields and explore". How about your wife, did she get to play in the field too while your mom cooked?
Airstream trailers are expensive, but apparantly the inside will fall apart long before the outside even BEGINS to deteriorate. I might get one at some point to use as my home on wheels, but there's no way of knowing what the future will hold.
Airstreams look great! Just remember they have only made a few changes in decades, and they use the cheapest parts, meaning refrigerators, wench, etc. Those trailer wheels have to be repacked every 3000 miles. NOT greased like truck trailing wheels where you regularly need to hook up a grease gun to each wheels zerks. You have to remove the wheel, disassemble and grease the bearings, and remount them.
The more I've researched trailers the more I dislike Airstream. Not just their cost cutting measures but worse, their anticompetitive practices like buying Nest and then killing it after so short a time, clearly just to get rid of the competition.
I was a maintenance welder in America's refineries and power plants. I traveled around the country for many of my jobs staying at the inexpensive motels! I now wish I had gone this route had these kind of amenities existed in my day! Mom and dad lived in an Airstream for about 5 years when they were young!
Back in the mid 1990's my late hubby and I had a 27 ft Airstream - he hated it -- reason being - - he was 6ft5in and hit his head at least every other time he went in or out. I'm not even close to 5ft so I loved it.
I do love the Airstreams! This is super cute! My grandparents had a big one circa 1960. They had it until they passed in 2000. Sure wish I'd been able to buy it from them!
The Bambi is the base model now, they make a 16 caravelle which has the ducted AC and other fancier upgrades. It’s a little confusing as just a few years ago Bambi referred to any single axle AS then there were different trim levels in each size Bambi.
Oliver kills this thing. I use to love Airstream, but it will fall apart on you from day one. It will rattle in no time, no lithium, loud AR, no composting toilet. Airstream has a huge issue with the body separating from the frame and will dent with ease. Low to the ground compared to Oliver as well so no real boondock camping.
I would want a sink in the wash room for sure, and cabinet space. I prefer hinged doors to slide doors. I like the kitchen and table area design. The max cargo capacity limits its use to camping areas with water hook ups and dump sites.
I love these little tiny trailers when I was a kid we used to have a Bambi. I think that’s what we called it. I don’t know if that was the name but little single axle had bunkbeds in it in the back.
The aluminum exterior is nice. But the underside and frame is just regular sheetmetal and it rusts out real bad. And there’s regular plywood on top as your deck and that rots out bad too. How do I know? Well I have an Airstream. Because of all the rotted out decking it’s impossible to keep mice and critters out. After many attempts to correct these serious shortcomings (and I restore run down old houses professionally) I’ve given up on it and parked it. It’s just way more work and will cost more than it is worth.
Nice tiny trailer and I bet many people will be happy to go for it. But imho these overhead compartment doors call for good problem solving capabilities as things will surely fly around and block them. This might not be only the case during traveling but even when the trailer is parked - I guess everybody with a tiny cabinet or even a simple bread box with this or similar type of opening mechanism can sing an opera about such issues ...
Airstream:: they’re heavy and expensive. They have no slides. They have limited storage because of their shape. They dent very easily especially from hail. You can buy a regular travel trailer with much more space and amenities for half the price and much less weight.
What I like about these is that they have the same stuff as a huge RV without all of the wasted space. Recently looked at a 45ft RV and it was big and empty with wasted space everywhere. If you want to run back and fourth then go outside.
Beautiful trailers we saw at an RV show last year. The prices though are insanely expensive. Talked to friends that want to buy one but can’t afford one. Everything today is more expensive. It’s crazy. Especially living in California.
2022 RPod 153. $20000 new out the door in 2023. Tiny, but far more useful, full bath. I don’t like the bed at my age, but I still sleep better camping than I do at home. Very workable for me, my wife and our energetic Aussie. Airstreams are obviously nice, but heavy, overpriced-for my budget, and limited exterior space for what is usually a lot of stuff.
Airstreams are the definitely the coolest looking trailers on the market. They really lack storage space. However that trailer has okay storage for its size. What will that aluminum skin look like if you get caught in a Texas hail storm?
I'm about to remodel my 30ft camper trailer bathroom. I'm getting rid of the sink. Doesn't make sense to have two sinks within six feet of each other. I can really use the extra space in my bathroom.
I think this is a very nice little camper. I like that the bed is always set up and is kind of in its own little area. The price doesn’t seem so bad - people need to lighten up about the money or get better jobs.
This one I like. Bigger wetbath I think I can use without having to turn sideways in. A dinette and a permanent bed. I travel alone so not having to breakdown and make up a bed every day is great. Only problem is it is at the max rating of my van. So if I have my scooter in my van I might not be able to tow this as well.

Is net for just two people they do not make this floorplan now what layout I am by myself with my buddy dog plan to stay in Florida this winter I got it for a little over 20 I think it’s a great buy It pulls great without a Reese hitch
Personally, I don't see a "family" camping in this. Not saying it isn't doable, but getting stuck in there on a rainy day may be a challenge. However, it looks like it would be an awesome camper for a single person, two people at the most. As far as the plastic toilet goes, if my butt doesn't care, I don't either.😁
I don't know, JD. For the money, I think you can get a lot more from many other brands. Airstream has a big following, and that's cool, just not for me. I was waiting for you to pull that handle at the front of the kitchen sink, the only sink in this rig. Spices or sponge storage?
Form over function? Looks cool, but fridge and micro below waist level? Those over head cabinet sliding doors look cool but suspect will be a pain in the neck. Nice wrap around window looking at…. The back of your tow vehicle.
We've had several Airstreams and we love our Flying Cloud Bunk. But Airstream is very slow to innovate in some interesting areas. For example, awning lights. Sure, they have LED strip lighting, but you have to have the awning extended to use it. We also have a Winnebago Travato which has the awning light strip such that you can use it extended or not. Airstream also does not have Bluetooth enabled AC units like the Travato. If I were by myself, I'd definitely consider a Bambi. Not sure if the bed would be big enough for me. I'm only 5'-9", but that bed looks pretty small.
That's the first thing I thought, Zero chance this thing is comfortable for the average sized adult. If your family are all short, very light weight, and don't mind being completely crammed into a space this is your huckleberry. Cheers
Very convenient, if you are a dog. Have to get down on hands and knees to use microwave, refrigerator and drawers under bed. Zero counter space. One of the lousiest designs I have ever seen.
Got it. However, had one and over time it leaked. I paid a lot and sold it for only slightly less than I paid for it so it retained value but their are better campers for a lot less today. I prefer clam shell two piece campers now
Cheaper to get a wee roll trailer with ac and add a shower ...( pan and boat hole with screw on lid to drain out) and curtain. Can put all that into a bench seat or right by door etc etc

Yup, it’s 60k because there are plenty of people who will pay that much.
No one pays msrp though-not even close. You can get 25-45% off msrp(or more) on most current year U.S. manufactured motor homes and travel trailers.
The only thing Big about the Bambi is the price!!!
Their slogan should be 'Its Better Than A Tent".
🤣🤣🤣
only 32500% more expensive.
But not by much . . . Just sayin'.
Tent also a good solution 😂
That is the BEST 1 I heard in a long long time!

A better design is to have a half wall in the back that the doors go behind.
Not only that, they didn't seem to slide open & close very smoothly. Looked he was struggling a bit.
Buying used is the best way to go with Airstreams.
I agree about the toilet and ac. I also think they should of used regular door cabinets for storage.
Agree, or sliding cabinet doors.
Price is $60,000 - double that after you go in to have your heart checked out.
Starting at 60K ...no thanks I checked the price on airstream website
My God tat is a lot.
your paying for the brand lol thats really it
Absolutely ridiculous!
For the price these sell at when opening the overhead bins the motion should be smoother and more fluid. Seemed stiff and not refined
I think that another of the outstanding things about the Bambi is the astonishing price----$$$$$$$ ! ! !
The tambor doors on overhead cabinets will be a problem. The more common hinged Airstream cabinet doors are more reliable.
They are, but this redesign where they roll straight back in grooves may be the fix. We have the 2019 and our doors roll-up inside. One door in particular (front right) has warped some and is difficult to slide up and down now. I would prefer this new design. Much smoother opening & closing. ☹️
Those sliding cabinet doors look kind of cheap, I noticed they are sticking when you open/close them.
I noticed the same thing, and they look like anything you put into them would get in the way of the cabinet door sliding down in the back !!
I think it’s cute, that said it’s way overpriced for what you’re getting camping wise!
Bambi would make a nice guest room
That's about all, but if price is right, maybe so.
Those slide cabinets would be a struggle to get into when your kitchen items shift in tow.

I'm 6ft 4inchs. I will have to lay down to use the microwave. Not a good place for this unit. 🤔
My parents had an Airstream in the early 70's. This "Bambi" is a tin can with a cheap interior. Like comparing a Rolls to a Ford Pinto.
I am homeless, with no vehicle, could this be pulled around by hand, and raw muscle power ?
Very convenient, if you are a dog. Have to get down on hands and knees to use microwave, refrigerator and drawers under bed. Zero counter space. One of the lousiest designs I have ever seen.
The over-use of the word “super” across…well…everywhere, is quite wearing.
Got it. However, had one and over time it leaked. I paid a lot and sold it for only slightly less than I paid for it so it retained value but their are better campers for a lot less today. I prefer clam shell two piece campers now
I would love to hear how Cortez and Oliver do in Alaska winter temps?
Just wanting to know if a Ford Escape, 1.6 litter can pull something like this?
Cheaper to get a wee roll trailer with ac and add a shower ...( pan and boat hole with screw on lid to drain out) and curtain. Can put all that into a bench seat or right by door etc etc
