    This is really cool but personally I’d pull those bunks out and put a couple of light weight recliners or a little love seat of some type. Make it a nice little weekend couples rig.

      Plus if coachman sees this they could spin the bathroom and put the fridge in the kitchen and possibly make the bathroom a tad bigger.

      @@rebellucy6200 yeah it's a "bring the kids" trailer.
      It's an upgrade from a pop up, the soft sides aren't always great with kids when stormy wet and windy weather hits... You don't live in it.

    With a family of 4 tired of tents, this is perfect. We only get out a few weekends each year. We eat outside anyways so no need for a table. Like a tent on wheels with a bath. Love it!!

      I was thinking you could take the cushion off the top bunk and put it against the window on the bottom bunk to make a couch. If you don’t mind losing the window.
      Could a Honda CRV tow this?

    Wow, that is a unique floor plan.
    Beats a pop up because it's a hard sided trailer, and you can still bring the kids... It's not something to spend all day in, just a place to sleep out of the weather and not have to go outside to use the bathroom.

    This is great. One segment that I think has a potential for growth is the no frills, "glorified tent" market for larger families 4-6+ kids. There are a lot of great TT's and 5th wheels that have tons of amenities and sleep lots of people. However, most of the time you need a 3/4 ton or bigger truck to support the GCVWR. Unfortunately, there are no production trucks that comfortably seat more than 5 people. Consequently, you have all of that wonderful sleeping space but then need two vehicles if you were to actually utilize the space. I would love to see someone design a camper with 4 bunks, a queen bed (a Murphy bed would be fine) and a sleeper dinette that had a GVWR of under 4K. That way, you could use the large SUV that you need for the kids to also pull the trailer and still be under the GVWR of the SUV when you include all of the kids, stuff, and tongue weight. At 4K, you could also possibly use some full size vans with a tow package as well. Much of this could be alleviated if Ford brought back the EXCURSION! lol

      A XL F150 crew cab will haul a lot of trailers and six people. The center armrest folds up for the sixth seat and is the standard setup of the base model F150. A mini van would tow this no problem.

    I liked it alot but since no kids now. The bunk option should be like a two seat breakfast nook or whatever you call it for two. But could also be used as a desk. Or put in a comfy couch and a table you can mount so you could rig a TV plus work area and could sit and eat. Ijs

    I love this. I am not an Rv'er. I primattive camp uaing tents, hammocks, and hot tents. Things of this nature. A small camper a few guys could use on state land for primative overland style camping. This would be a great camper for hunting. Small, good ground clearance, light weight, and multiple beds. This is something I would consider an option from my tents. Although a bit too pricey at 20,000. Maybe 10 to 12 thousand would make this very attractive.

    A Murphy option to make up for no seating would make this a killer set up. Get rid of the JBL system, put a detachable speaker and make the fridge a 8cu unit with a freezer. Leave the windows as they are and put a dark one on the door with a shade. Put the bed stand/flip up storage on the driver side of the camper. Put a larger door on the passenger side and offer a moryde sliding tray as an option to make up for the other door.

    I would keep the upper bunk, for sure and maybe give it some multi-use practicality (i.e. extra storage or something), but the lower bunk, I'd extract and use a nook for a pop-up desk of the sort.

      @ryancaldwell9463 11 дней назад +1

      Yea that was a head-scratcher for me. Seems weird to have a bunkhouse in such a small unit. And unless you wanna take on renovating it yourself, it’s a lot of bare open space that you can’t use for much else, except maybe throw your luggage and some storage bins/baskets there. I like your idea of just a top bunk and something else like a desk underneath.

    • @Powderblues
      @Powderblues 6 дней назад

      @@ryancaldwell9463 I mean, it's cool seeing these guys really max out their builds, but like you, I couldn't wrap my mind around the concept of the bunkhouse either. I think it would probably be even more practical to incorporate a Murphy bed (fold out from the wall), so to speak.

    This is a nice unit as it comes for either a couple with younger kids or a single parent with a couple kids. People confuse camping and glamping. For people that only want to spend a minimum amount of time in a camper and want to set by the campfire, go fish, hike, bike, or do most any other outdoor activity this would be perfect for what it’s meant for. Sleeping and having a basic cooking and rest room set up. I cook outdoors when camping and don’t rely on needing a freezer. Between that fridge and a cooler I can supply food for 4 for a 3 day trip with no issues.

    No, on the windows in the South, Yes in the North. More things to break and leaks, but in open window climates, ok. I like the bunks. I had a bunk house and it was a great storage space and sleep option. Lets be real, if one is say, an older couple, cramming in the camper queen isnt always the arrangement .........all the time. I would make the bed a jack knife so you get a couch. Move the JBL up and give it a double door or at least a freezer. I like that style of cook top over that other one with the glass cover and plastic knobs on top that melt . In these small rigs, we have to realize were in a camper and not trying to bring our whole house with us. I went from a 31 to a 19 and do the same thing.

    Windows are great, but much harder to cool in direct sun. On such a small trailer too much glass could comprimise the structural rigidty. Also easier for bad guys to break into when unoccupied. The last thing is cost. Windows add to the price and most people looking for something small expect a small price tag.

    I think you are onto something with the acrylic windows. I'd add to that, up the insulation factor and include a heated/enclosed underbelly and make it a bit of a more premium unit with azdel sides. It's hard to find a small unit like this that is really a solid 4-seasons camper, built better than your average small, entry level camper. To me, you might tow this thing all over the country and might appreciate being able to use and enjoy it in all weather conditions, from the heat of TX/AZ to the cold in the mountains for skiing!

But man, if you get a rainy day there isn’t even a place to sit down short of the bed. I like the idea of an extra window in the top bunk and in the kitchen area. Would like to see a freezer. Maybe of the front bed could also be a Murphy bunk with like a folding table or something? Clearly this is encouraging outside living so it would be nice to have a propane hook up and maybe a spray port. Would love to see them add a second door to the front storage and maybe some sort of access to under the bunks for storage. Not sure why you just have an opening above the fridge? Look like things would fall out of there in transit. Maybe add a removable shelf and net? Not sure you need a sound system and exterior speaker. I would prefer an outdoor portable Bluetooth speaker. But overall 2000lbs with bunks and a dry bath is pretty impressive!

    I don't need bunk beds. I'd pull them out and add another storage cabinet in the back and some kind of foldable desk or table in the rest of that space.

    Those bunks are a pleasant surprise. I love bunkhouses.

    I'd love acrylic and more windows! I don't need the bunk house, so I'd love to see one without the bunk house.

    Like your Catalina 134BHX Nice layout. Question, what about if you didn't want the bunkhouse?? Just have a dinette with 2 comfortable chairs & some more windows as you pointed out. Like a lot of its features, like the black tank flush. Storage up front big enough for a solar power set up nice!!

    Get rid of the bunks and wall put in a bar type countertop and stools some outlets raise the window accordingly would also allow for upper cabinets with lighting . Would obviously be solo or couples only .

    It's because the beds are also the chairs. That's what saves all the room.

    I would like one that could drive, like a stand up off road mini-van so if something goes down, I'm not locked away from the steering wheel.

    Going against what most ppl want- I don't like a bunch of windows. This little camper is perfect.

    This camper is really cute. I wouod want more windows and they should be double paned or weather proof for al seasons. I would definitely want a windo in the kitchen area and the top bunk definitely needs a window. I would suggest a window where the queen bed it but up higher on the curve. Not where your sleeping and or sitting. And a TV hook up for those rainy days. As you know ,any people are living the camper bus and van life now. As it is cheaper then owning a home. WITH house price through the roof. Many families are hime schooling and showing their children where the American history started. Plus you get to see all the beauty America has to offer.

    Widows facing the wind will start leaking, but a window by the sink would be nice.

    This comes as no surprise. Sunset park has a floor plan in their Sunlite LTD line very similar to this. It’s been a huge success for them. I already see Coachmen dealerships advertising an 13 RDX and RKX models but no photos. Which most likely they’ll be a dinette option where the bunks are. I bet the RKX will be a rear kitchen model with the bathroom in the corner where the bunks are in this model. A window at the sink would be nice. Also, I wish Forest River would stop skimping on the overhead storage cabinets! That’s my biggest pet peeve with them!

    I would be willing to invest in one of these but they would have to change a couple of things. I wouldn’t want the bunk beds. With removing the bunk beds you could have more storage and a larger bathroom area. I’m like you it needs more windows. A nice window up front plus a window on other end of the bed for a draft of air and yes a bigger window or add a window behind the sink and stove. Does the front bed make into a table for dining? Then you could leave the bottom bunk bed. It’s light enough for me to tow with my Subaru outback.

    More windows the better and a small sink in the bathroom maybe in the front corner of the shower 👍

    Looks cool but I think a flip up bottom bunks and a small door to the rearwould add a lot of flexibility to the floor plan.

    Looks like competition for sunset rv, get rid of the bunk beds and roof ac,install a conventional home type window unit ac and solar with as much 12v as possible and they'd have something. I'm currently in the market for something like that to pull behind my bronco with a hitch weight rating of 350lbs.
