RAF needs to get the F-35A. The way the costs are dropping with the factory going high-rate production, 85 million USD is going to fetch one helluva capable multi-role fighter. Tough to beat.
The UK and all countries that acquired the F-35 owe all of us here in the USA a great debt of gratitude, we built it, we tested it, we did everything that had to be done to make it come to fruition and we did it all for the security of Americans everywhere and all of our allies throughout the world!

Long live the Harrier! That supposed ugly duck turned out to be a hero of a plane! Keep in mind that the “magic” that creates the VSTOL ability is a Rolls Royce design. The Rolls Royce lift fan system is rather remarkable, and it does mean that Rolls Royce is a major contractor on the F35b. And yes, the f35b is one HELL of a vstol. It has about double the payload of the Harrior in VSTOL, but is the first VSTOL with supersonic ability, and of course stealth. Up to 36 of these bad boys will be deployed to the HMS queen. This will make the HMS queen one of the most powerful deployed aircraft carriers in the world. In many ways, the plane is the pinnacle of VSTOL and has VERY few compromises over that of regular fighter jets. They are going to incorporate rolling landings on the HMS queen, and that will mean no jettison of weapon stores on return landings. (and also no dumping of fuel). Make no mistake, the Harrier is one of my favorite planes, and will always have a special place in my heart. Without the Harrier, Falklands was a loss and non-starter. The Harrier in one great moment of history proved what such a plane could do! Note that the Harrier could only hover for 90 seconds. You see you gun the engines at full throttle - and they start to overheat - so they inject water into the intake. The 150 gallons of water thus only allows the hover for 90 seconds. Of course with the brilliant Rolls Royce lift fan system, that limitation is gone! Note that the HMS queen don’t have catapults, but in fact the takeoff cycle time for VSTOL can actually be HIGHER since you don’t have to re-hook up the jet. The jets on the deck can turn, point, and then zoom off the ramp one after another - without waiting for the catapult cycle time (90 seconds). Of course VSTOL can limit the weapons load somewhat, but I am betting they will adopt the v22 osprey as a refuelling tanker and they will be deployed to the HMS queen. This means planes can takeoff with max weapons, and then receive a FULL fuel load. The result is even LESS compromise in terms of weapons and range for the f35b. The v22 can take off with about 20,000 lbs of fuel in a special rig, but if you cycle two v22, then you can have 40,000 lbs of fuel on one v22, while the other cycles and tops up the air bound re-fueling system. (so v22 to v22 will allow the tanker to have 40-60,000 lbs of fuel. So the HMS queen will likely gain air to air refueling ability. V22 fuel tanker test video: ruclips.net/video/pfkDfDhJ_JA/видео.html
The original British Harrier might well have never got off the ground if it wasnt for the Americans, especially the USMC, helping to bankroll the project. And McDonnell Douglas drove a lot of the later development of the Harrier.
@stuco81 Fair points on your part - yes McDonnel Douglas made the plane truly great. So, Sure - no question the USA + Marines adopting the Harrier was a big deal. However, at the end of the day, I think it only fair to give credit where it is due. The Harrier is really from top to bottom a British idea, and they pulled off the first viable VSTOL plane. It was a strategic game changer in military history. That heritage continues in that Rolls Royce is the major contractor and builder of the F35b “magic” abilities with the lift fan system. The result is really the first VSTOL fighter with few compromises compared to regular fighter jets. And the Harrier did get off the ground before the Americas were involved! No question the later models (AV8) benefited from the USA inputs, but I am comfortable saying the Harrier is a British concept, British design, and a British success. The f35b is also a strategic nightmare. VSTOL planes can be placed on small ships, small hangers, and with such amazing abilities, it changes the whole strategic map. How and where you hide and deploy such planes results in a serious challenge. The first USA deployment of f35b’s at sea just occurred as I write this and the military exercises going on with South Korea. (USS WASP). So smaller ships like the HMS Invincible etc. are quite small. (About 20,000 tons). While the HMS queen is in the 70,000 tons class of ships (really a super carrier class). So the ability to deploy the f35b on smaller ships is one of its greatest strengths from a military point of view. You can cobble together commercial ships and maritime ships, and deploy f35b from those ships. (Even without a ramp). I believe the introduction of the v22 plane as a refueling tanker for the f35b will also result in a game change here. With small ships and no ramps, you limit the f35b weapons load. However, if you forgo fuel, then you get great weapons load - you just have to be able to re-fuel them once airborne. I predict the HMS queen will get v22 for use in refuelling. The concept of a great VSTOL plane been a military dream for many years - the f35b is the day that dream became a reality. Short video of v22 vertical take-off plane as refuelling rig: ruclips.net/video/pfkDfDhJ_JA/видео.html And the idea that the f35 not a great flying plane??? Sorry, the plane is rather incredible.
F-35 now costs less than the EF! Fact. The F-35C or Carrier version brings an amazing upgrade to both British Super Carrier & it’s smaller Carriers & USMC small amphibious carriers. That point cannot be argued.
Absolutebly fantastic, the red arrows are world leaders. I am very fortunate and humbled to own a citizen skyhawk red arrows titanium watch. It's a once in a lifetime gift for me from my wife. 3 years old but still stunning to look at and everytime i wear it, it's red arrows! i have only seen the team from plymouth hoe, and have fond memories. My love, respect and admiration always to a fantastic team. Inspiration, is a little late for me approaching fifty this year. Keep doing all you do, for all worldwide! Marcus. XX
Yes the F-35 is not as maneuverable as the Su-27......that is not the point.......the point IS is that the F-35 can spot, target, and fire upon a Su-27 LONG before the Su-27 even is aware of the presence of the F-35. Stealth and higher technology is the key.
So there is one flying I nether thought they were ready yet. But what can it do as does not seem that large to carry many weapons unlike the Harrier and I wonder if can do like our original lightning hit over twice the speed of sound and 3 mins to reach high altitudes?
I wonder how fast a skilled pilot could transition from horizontal to vertical and land. Like I would try in a game. Of course, I don’t think that would ever get sanctioned
I have two questions for air buffs. can the hark(red arrow) take missile racks, and on the typhoon, what are the vents above the wing next to the body. you can see dis-coloration on the metal above the wing. please let me know as I am rather curios.
thank you. but do you know anything about the vents on the typhoon's wings. you can see a dis- colouration on the metal above the vent, so it must be doing something.
While the F35B is a necessity on our STOVL-only carriers, I hope the UK orders some F35As as well. In RAF service, I don't see how STOVL is worth the capability compromises & extra maintenance requirements it creates.
Wow, that's some of the best F-22 footage I have ever seen. Hard to believe it's first flight was 21 years ago, the maneuverability is incredible, if it was shaped like a disc you would believe it was aliens! Decided to check out the rest of your content and all I can say is: SUBBED!
Cant knock the r.a.f played huge part in making britain world war champions " no america no if your not in the fight at the start your not in the fight at all lol"
The Typhoon looked more that cable of taking on any other jet here, even the F35. Should have modified the Typhoon for our aircraft carriers instead of the F-35s?
Since the U.K. was a founding development partner for F-35 they manufacturer sub assemblies in the U.K. and collect millions on each foreign sale. And since the world is lining up to buy it - a wise investment.
Many months later I just realised that the Typhoon @ 17:54 and which gave the display is one of the BAE Systems aircraft on loan from the RAF which is developing the upgrades so Tiffy can replace the Tornado in 2019. The telltale is the Brimstone pods on each wing with 6 missiles. The weapon the US Navy and Air Force desperately want but the pork barrel politicians won't let them. This is from 2014!: ruclips.net/video/l2hj5USIl6M/видео.html The guy says 'we need to see what it can do' and yet it is deployed every day in Syria and Iraq and even on RUclips it can be seen to be able to go through the door of a fast moving pickup truck! The Typhoon will be with us until 2040 and will still be a major player in QRA, air defence and Ground attack capabilities. It has become one very lethal bomb truck and combined with the F-35 sensor and suppression capabilities the UK has (IMHO) a world leading attack system.
Yes it was a Bae Systems display with full weapons done by their people and test pilot, but the RAF did a fab display "clean" with their display pilot too!

Short video of v22 vertical take-off plane as refuelling rig:

And the idea that the f35 not a great flying plane??? Sorry, the plane is rather incredible.
ERM!!! without sir frank whittle the usa would never have had the jet engine!!! we gave them the plans and experts to make their own jets!!
F-35 now costs less than the EF! Fact.
The F-35C or Carrier version brings an amazing upgrade to both British Super Carrier & it’s smaller Carriers & USMC small amphibious carriers. That point cannot be argued.
Awesome Typhoon. Colombian Air Force should buy this powerful war machine.🇨🇴🇬🇧
that would be super deal, you send them crack and they send you planes
Absolutebly fantastic, the red arrows are world leaders. I am very fortunate and humbled to own a citizen skyhawk red arrows titanium watch. It's a once in a lifetime gift for me from my wife. 3 years old but still stunning to look at and everytime i wear it, it's red arrows! i have only seen the team from plymouth hoe, and have fond memories. My love, respect and admiration always to a fantastic team. Inspiration, is a little late for me approaching fifty this year. Keep doing all you do, for all worldwide! Marcus. XX
Thank You - Maybe one day I can afford a Red Arrows watch too? I hope.
Keep up the good work. Thankyou for your reply.
I’ve got one too I paid £600 for mine
Yes the F-35 is not as maneuverable as the Su-27......that is not the point.......the point IS is that the F-35 can spot, target, and fire upon a Su-27 LONG before the Su-27 even is aware of the presence of the F-35. Stealth and higher technology is the key.
Typhoon is still the Pablo Escobar of the skys. A true gangster that don't give a fuck
Beautiful! I love your air shows. 💜💚
fighter jets starting to look like the alien crafts from independence day
Intimidation is KEY
Typhoon showing it's skills' beutifull flyer' modern day spitfire.
Harrier 2 is here.
Harrier 2 already flies with USMC.

Ya I have seen this I little late but OMG they are BAD ASSES 😍😍😍😍
Would love to see the euro typhoon visit our cne air show in toronto ont Canada!
What daring manuevers of those raf pilots. Very brave chaps.
Beautiful jets 😍😍
I really enjoyed watching this video
0:15 Why does it look like there is a big hole in the fuselage?
HMS Queen Elizabeth is going to kick some backsides of those who dare to piss her off.
So many salty basement dwellers on RUclips now, and they’re all experts as well.🙄🙄
Jabber 1974 Definitely!
Not seen a Typhoon yet, they have been to my city but only when i have not been home; i will catch one sooner or later :-)
There's gonna be a lot of jealous Ruskies watching this!
So there is one flying I nether thought they were ready yet. But what can it do as does not seem that large to carry many weapons unlike the Harrier and I wonder if can do like our original lightning hit over twice the speed of sound and 3 mins to reach high altitudes?
I know many question the f35b but I have full confidence that it will perform well.. Let's wait til it's been combat tested...
Well put together vid
God bless 🇬🇧🇺🇸 for your brilliant mind.
Superb!
Bravo red arrows! Nice flying! Hope the F35 is everything they say it is and more
I wonder how fast a skilled pilot could transition from horizontal to vertical and land.
Some countries have used the Hawk for light attack so it can carry weapons if necessary
thank you. but do you know anything about the vents on the typhoon's wings. you can see a dis- colouration on the metal above the vent, so it must be doing something.

Must be exhaust gases
Its like it was made for Batman, very cool!.
RAF Fairford RIAT (July last year).
This was 2016
While the F35B is a necessity on our STOVL-only carriers, I hope the UK orders some F35As as well. In RAF service, I don't see how STOVL is worth the capability compromises & extra maintenance requirements it creates.
1:27 Is that an F-22 behind the red arrows? It certainly looks like one
Yes there are two of them!
oh wow, I didn't realise we had any of those in the UK
Just visiting, and they can be seen displaying here: ruclips.net/video/B1KkyzbpT2E/видео.html
Wow, that's some of the best F-22 footage I have ever seen.
Hard to believe it's first flight was 21 years ago, the maneuverability is incredible, if it was shaped like a disc you would believe it was aliens!
Decided to check out the rest of your content and all I can say is:
SUBBED!
Cant knock the r.a.f played huge part in making britain world war champions " no america no if your not in the fight at the start your not in the fight at all lol"
Why do you have quotations? And your quote makes no sense.
Red Arrows: Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed Martin F-35 Lighting II
definitely make a noisy combo
Wow, these guys are good.
The Typhoon looked more that cable of taking on any other jet here, even the F35. Should have modified the Typhoon for our aircraft carriers instead of the F-35s?
What?
No stealth
Those Hawks remind me of the mission Final Option from Ace Combat 5.
Nicely done. Coms?
WOW just unbeatable!!!!
Richard the Lionheart...... lol.
the F-35 has so many R A I L S to hang those USA built bombs
gives me goose bumps just thinking about medal rain coming down
Since the U.K. was a founding development partner for F-35 they manufacturer sub assemblies in the U.K. and collect millions on each foreign sale. And since the world is lining up to buy it - a wise investment.
thank you 🎅 Mr. Santaaaa . jangan lupa .. ngertii kan ,, 😎 .
Can it do Vtol? I mean the takeoff bit?
It can I believe but is not what the RAF plan to do as by doing a rolling or ramp take off saves fuel and more weapons can be carried
f35 gets stick but to have two rolled fighters stationed on an aircraft carrier and overseas bases is thought out. eurofighters and f35's together?
Many months later I just realised that the Typhoon @ 17:54 and which gave the display is one of the BAE Systems aircraft on loan from the RAF which is developing the upgrades so Tiffy can replace the Tornado in 2019. The telltale is the Brimstone pods on each wing with 6 missiles. The weapon the US Navy and Air Force desperately want but the pork barrel politicians won't let them. This is from 2014!:
ruclips.net/video/l2hj5USIl6M/видео.html
The guy says 'we need to see what it can do' and yet it is deployed every day in Syria and Iraq and even on RUclips it can be seen to be able to go through the door of a fast moving pickup truck!
Long live the Queen 👑
was this riat 2017?
It was RIAT 2016.
TYPHOON looks good
When can we see aurora?
“Whoopee, 🇬🇧 joins the JSF-35 🍋 drops as their RED STOOGIES take all the Glory!!
is this farnborough
No, it is Fairford 2016
I think they should’ve put a tornado in it aswell since it is being replaced by the f35
A gift from your u.s.a. brother s and sisters
.
profisionali formidabil SUPER.
Wonderful.
I'd like to see one stop a swarm of drones
One?
@@AugmentedGravity As many as you like, chum. A swarm of drones for each. You get a swarm, everybody gets a swarm
Do you mean the red arrows, the typhoon or the 35?
Looks like the F-35 has to use the afterburner in each of those not so impressive turns, during the solo part, to stay in the air.
I like this strong fighters jets
