D&D wanted to cut the balls off men in GOT, they did it twice to Varys.
In the books he definitely wouldn’t ,in fact Major book Spoiler alert!!!
He doesn’t support Danny in the books but the supposed son of prince rhaegar who the mountain killed during the sack of kings landing called Aegon who he swapped out for another baby and raised in Penrose with Illyria. However it is thought that this a lie and that aegon is actually a descendant of house blackfyre which is a bastard branch of house Targaryen that have tried to take the throne from Targaryen’s with five rebellions. Varys is even thought by some to be part of this house which is why he shaves his head as to not reveal his silver hair! It’s much more interesting and realistic for his character !!!

He doesn't want to be hand. Hands are strong and make enemies. He works as an influencer and an acquirer of knowledge. You want him and need him, but he is not coming out into the open as either a hand or, even worse, a king. He is simply the best adviser an Alpha man or woman could have.
Varys has always been my favorite character, he was smart, he was good and brave. He devoted his whole life to the people of Westeros, never took any pleasure in anything, not money not lust not power. He was truly an amazing character.
Until D&D had no source material anymore and had to make choices for the characters. Then he became as stupid as any other intelligent character became stupid.

If Lord baelish was motivated by his obsessions and motives Varys on the other hand is selfless for the good of the people of the kingdom.

You should check out TheGaroStudios' tribute for Lord Beric Dondarrion too. The character might not be as complex as Varys' and had way less screen time, but I think the music and scenes used in that tribute fits nearly as good as they do here. :)
I love this video. This sounds weird but Varys is the GOT character that reminds me most of myself.

Lord baelish and Lord Varys are both very intelligent, tactical , cunning , users and genius manipulators , the only differences their intensions . Lord Varys uses his power and wisdom to protect the people while Lord Baelish uses his for personal agenda to gain the control of people

This video is a perfect encapsulation of the character. Varys is one of the best characters in the show much to the credit of the writers and amazing performance of Conleth Hill. Varys is one of only a few characters in the show who genuinely care for making The Seven Kingdoms a better place. I believe audiences connect with him for that reason and we root for him to succeed. Unfortunately his character didn't receive the death he deserved but he will remain as one of the best parts of the show.

Another great twist. Varys ends up being the King of Westeros. The only man in the entire series who never wanted power, but he really wanted to serve the people. Maybe the Lord of Light or the Throne is truly meant to the people who really don't want it because those are rulers with good hearts.

Varys has royal blood. How do I know? His nads were used in flame and kings blood is the more powerful magic. What royals and from where is the interesting question but will it be answered?
There are some theories about that he is Targaryen
There might actually be a hint to that in the scene where Varys tells his story to Tyrion. As Varys is washing his hands you see his reflection in the mirror. The mirror is dirty with dust and it makes it look like Varys has white hair and a beard just like a potential Targaryen
Yep. And my thought was it must have been intentional or they would have cleared the mirror a bit more
It is belived that Varys is Blackfire (Targaryen) and that is shaving his head because of his white hair.
