Most helpful video I found! BUT.... my images have clouds in them... obviously the clouds won't be seen through the moon as they are with your steps. As a beginner should I just stick with cloudless skies to add my moon to?
Excellent video, Jeff. I am not that experienced in Photoshop. It would help me, and I presume others, if you could be a little more explicit on each step that you do. Sometimes things happen fast, and I can't tell exactly where or what you've clicked to get to what you are doing. I had to rewatch certain segments several times. Thank you, though.
An excellent video, Jeff. I was trying to do exactly that - put a moon into my photo. However, the moon I am putting in is from the exact same photo shoot at the same time, just a darker exposure, so that my moon's highlights are not blown out, and also just a little larger for more prominence. When I put the properly exposed moon over top of the original overexposed moon, and choose the Screen blending mode, the brighter moon underneath shines through. If I use Normal blending, it hides the brighter moon, but then has unsightly black edges. What's the best solution? Perhaps I should darken the moon in the original photo before superimposing?
Maybe try adding a layer mask to turn off the original moon and allow the new moon to be the only moon in the image. If that doesn't work, you could always try one of the many different blending modes as one of them might work better than screen in this instance 😀
This tutorial was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you very much for the useful information.
You're very welcome!
I would love 5 or 6 day PS course with Jeff. Good to meet him in person.
We have a four-day! rmsp.com/workshops/40992/2018-photoshop-for-photographers-missoula-montana

There is a tutorial which shows how to make the clouds show over the moon. It is done with the blending mode and using the underlying layer.
@@leniehulse1621 thanks! I’ll have to check it out
Great video! Very helpful. I really like the finished image.
Thank you!
great easy one ( wanted to blend two exposures of the moon and worked just fine )
Well done! Love the high quality
Thank you!

Hahaha, excellent observation skills!
Too fast for me, I can't keep up. Perhaps too advanced, I'll find someone a little slower/
Sorry to hear that!
