a shame (sound quality wise) it wasnt pressed on vinyl --- thanks for making it sound as good as possible Anthony! love disc-overing great songs on Your channel
Bob, it has to be quite a thrill to compose a song and hear how it is presented through others. The Regina version is a fine production as well. Did the two versions of 'If You're Gonna Love Me' go beyond the expectations of your original interpretation?
@@AnthonyReichardt we were hoping that if Regina did not hit that Chi Chi would...both good recordings...the radio Playlist were so tight...so many British groups had a hold of the airwaves at that time...glad you found it and enjoy it now...see never too late...Thx ..
Still very popular here in the UK Bob on the Northern Soul scene. Glad you found it on here & hope it makes you proud that so many people love it. Brilliant sound
I threw my life away. The beautiful women who kept sending me this clip eventually married someone else. It’s so painful to revisit the lyrics. Beautiful and painful. I guess that’s why it’s amazing soul music.
A Kama Sutra Production. One wonders why MGM Records didn't issue this one when they already had a Kama Sutra label. The same thing went for the Critters recordings (more Kama Sutra productions.) MGM wasn't interested?
Never heard it at a Soul venue ...it's a perfect beat ballad or " Ender"...why oh why did it slip through the net?...or was it that I just wasn't listening...either way it's a travesty ... Love it and can't get it out if my head ... .Thank you Anthony ...Wreakin Crew Were truly outstanding musicians. Who ever thought of doing the drums on the chorus's needs an Oscar ... It's simply beautiful. 200 Kid
this was played at blackburn town hall years ago dave appleyard was doing a spot and played this blind ,the floor never emptyed that about 35 plus years ago amazing record
A wonderful song and voice, a real powerhouse of a recording. I have two copies - one for playing and one 'just in case'! Fascinating description too, thank you.
Amazing and the vocalist is top notch!

GREAT SIDE... and I;d bet an internal organ that it the great NYC session drummer, Buddy Saltzman, hitting those skins.
It' was Buddy...
This song is just so awesome. Even now, all these years later, it can fill a dance floor at a Northern Soul night, here in the UK
Cant get enough of this song. The arrangement, the vocal. Pure Perfection. I think the song itself is timeless.
A criminally underrated vocalist who was the lead singer on the Doo wop tune MEMORY LANE, first recorded in 1959 and rereleased in 1962-63.
This was recorded in 1959?
Just stumbled on this site...CHI CHI great production....I was one of the songwriters....still sounds good and I'm still here to enjoy the listen...

She's such a wonderful singer who knew how to use that big voice. Too bad success escaped her when so many other mediocre singers were granted hits.
CLASSY INDEED! NOTHING LIKE THE OLD SCHOOL!
This is superb, love it.
Awesome sound! Should have been a hit!
To Anthony what a wonderful sound thank you very much for posting

Same singer that sang Memory Lane by The Hippies 5-6 years earlier
