Unknown? These guys are widely known and respected throughout the world of music. I don’t know where you’ve been hiding, but they are far from unknown.
You can hear that Gary and the guys are into dynamics. Gary mentions this a lot when talking how loud and soft he plays with certain songs. It really give some drive and emotion to the music. It's something that I forget somewhere along the way, but have to remember to play crescendos, accents, markings for loud and soft etc.
I found this, fell in love with Kirk who introduced me to Scott and the rest of these awesome musicians. This is my go to favourite music, every note Scott plays is part of the picture, brilliant.
This vid IS actual proof that Herbie's buddhist chanting worked, and by vibe power alone a bunch of itinerant teens from the white'burbs end up in San Fernando with just the right equipment and a mysterious desire to start a power-fusion 4-tet informed by the hippest black artists as well as Lee, Lifeson, and Peart. This tune is not easy, as anyone who has listened for Mike Clark's 'one' in Herbie's original on the salmon album (with Herbie among the purple clouds in a flying pod.. !) will know. While they don't quite nail the lost-in-space 3/4 and 5/4 bars Herbie i think writes in for the turnaround, so the tune is a bit 4/4, it is still a major achievement to keep this one going at tempo, which only slightly drops. A win for humanity and all subsequent GIT students, lol. Thanks for posting.
I have this exact whole concert (from Ljubljana, Slovenia) on VHS. In my humble opinion, one of best TT concert I've heard so far, even the interview is...funny. If Ill manage to get it digitalized, I'll upload it...
Hi Bober. I have all concert as AVI files, but I had to remove it due to Scott's copyright issues... Funny that your video is still online, but nevermind, better for us :) Cheers.
Thanks for reposting this. Love TT and Herbie and this is an epic tune by an epic band. Kinsey is badass and everybody else is at the top of their form in true TT fashion.
Thank you Sir for this "New & Improved" cookin' video performance. Tribal Tech is a great band akin to a cat that always lands on its feet. Amazing faculties.
despues de return to forever y weather report siguio esta banda echandole todavia mas ganasy en su tiempo no fue tan popular aunke se atrevieron a hacer otro nivel mucho mas avanzado TRIBAL TECH y punto
All right, lol, I'll look into companies that offer vhs digitalizing in next few weeks, and hopefully post it here. It's an old vhs - the concert was held around 1997, 1998? So the tape is pretty old
Wow, this is from like nineteen eighty-infinity... Scott Henderson's hair. Wow. First there was the Band of Gypsies... then, there was the Band of Nerds!! Just kidding! I like it.
Holy fuck! I mean, everyone on this album is fucking rediculous.. huge musical vocabularies.........Scott just always kills it, lays the fucking hammer down...
TT has been a mixed bag fusion group for me. They play some great, almost majestic, complex sorta classic fusion tunes (my preference) mixed with a few oddball experimental tries, and even a few straight ahead electric jazz excursions. So, I'm not always thrilled by their selections, live or recorded. For me, the well chosen early LP compilation CD Primal Tracks & 95's Reality Check contain their best actual fusion tunes. Skip the rest of their albums, especially from 2000-on which were what I call Fuzak, or tuneless funky jaznoodling-jamming which went nowhere and failed to engage my ears, meh. Like many other longer term fusion groups, they either got bored, ran out of inspired melodic/thematic song structure ideas, or put their better work into solo/side projects.
As a white guy that had dreads for 15 years, what the hell was Scott thinking with that mop? He looked like a mostly shaved Komondor. With that said, Tribal Tech is the shiz.
Love when Scott played Ibanez guitars.
It is actually not an ibanez, but a custom made strat made by a luthier in L.A.! :) i also love this period of Scotts playing, lots of gold here!
I saw them live a few years back and I couldn't take my eyes of Kirk Covington. His expressions whilst hitting them drums is something else!
Dudes got a killer voice too I really enjoy watching him rip.. freaking awesome
Totally agreed, he's one of my favorite drummers of all time. And a funny guy as well.
One of the greatest unknown bands of all time! These guys are all masters of their instruments and just on another level of caliber of musican period.
Unknown only to the profane masses
So true !!!
Unknown? These guys are widely known and respected throughout the world of music. I don’t know where you’ve been hiding, but they are far from unknown.
I had the privilege to have seen him live about 11 times, totally amazing band. My absolute favorite!!!
I have to admire any drummer that attempts Mike Clark's masterpiece

only musicians of this caliber can take one of the best fusion classics and make it their own. willis & henderson are my goats

Fantastic,WOW!
Garri's 3 finger style is just awesome!
I use his technic all the time, ever since I saw his video school)
That drummer is having the time of this life!
He's a boss
I think he looks that way anytime he’s playing
this is amazing and soulful playing by any measure
Thanks for reposting this. Love TT and Herbie and this is an epic tune by an epic band.

Great solo by Scott Henderson! And Scott Kinsey! 👌👏

Thank you Sir for this "New & Improved" cookin' video performance. Tribal Tech is a great band akin to a cat that always lands on its feet. Amazing faculties.

Thanks, H. Hanckok...
LOL
What a great band sounds like when they're "cookin'". Never get tired of listening to this.
This needs to be issued on official DVD - someone tell Slovenian TV
So frigin Impressive! But when he adds in Blues, it's up another notch!

Listening again, WOW xx
Quién toca tan apretado cómo Kirk? No sé si hay algunos. Es fantástico! Único.
Utterly Amazing. Jeff Beck meets Frank Zappa meets Aquarium Rescue Unit meets
Pat Metheny meets Jaco Pastorius. Absolutely Awesome.
pat metheny actually met jaco pastorius lol
Jaco is on Metheny's first album.
Meets Jimmy Corkhill
Giusto per condividere buona e sana musica ragazzi...!!!
Scott in his prime. Still his best sound-period !
the drummer is awsome !!!!!
@sydrnyc This is Henderson's signature model from Ibanez... He used to play with it until mid 90's.
His greatest tone : 86-93 ;)
Excellent. It's a shame to hear multiple cracks, probably due to too high volume while recording.
i love tribal tech and herbie hancock. tx 4 uploading this great vid man. awesome rendition......
This drummer is at the right gig.
Sick playing from Scott at 5:18
ak47 RIGHT!!!!
Yes...this is a Herbie Hancock tune! It's called "Actual Proof" from the album "THRUST".
Just killed it dead, dead, DEAD! Sooo badass!
despues de return to forever y weather report siguio esta banda echandole todavia mas ganasy en su tiempo no fue tan popular aunke se atrevieron a hacer otro nivel mucho mas avanzado TRIBAL TECH y punto
This is so intense music that I have to take it in with coffee breaks.

Damn SH is such a fine guitar player …!
Kirk Covington is neither man nor beast...but a manimal.

I need the version of ''canine'' from this concert.. its epic..
Matteo mancuso can make a version for this
Scott Kinsey on keys Murilo...
Damn, Tribal Tech playing Herbie !
That's why Scott Henderson is one of my favorites...
If human beings were sized according to our talents .. then Scott Henderson would be Mount Everest and we would be size of little chihuahuas
7:17 my favorite drum fill
All right, lol, I'll look into companies that offer vhs digitalizing in next few weeks, and hopefully post it here. It's an old vhs - the concert was held around 1997, 1998? So the tape is pretty old
...5 years later
Tight like that!! One take baby!! Shit...
Capitán Kirk en la batería! Único distinto!
Por más que hagan otras versiones de esta canción actualmente, creo que en la batería Kirk es inalcanzable.
Nice..very good hancock track cover...
Don't judge a book by its cover; don't judge until you have actual proof.
yes .... by henderson, kivington, kinsey, willis
Bom demais🎉🎉🎉
Does Henderson still have that Ibanez? Should fetch more than Hendrix's Strat.
Funk Tastik!!!!!
...and Dan Connor on the drums!
Herbie would be proud! The quality is a little fucked, but WHO CARES?
From whence did this came!?!?✨🔥✨🔥✨
So tasty! Every bit as amazing as Herbie's version.
chihuahua is that think in his head hahahahaha
Doesn't got much better than that.

Kirk Covingtons on fire
I Wanna play like him
wtf after 7:50 sick!!!
PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC WHITE BOYZ
🤣
J’aime bien le gars qui joue du piano là mais genre électronique
Like early Yellow Jackets except Scott is a much more inventive player than Robben Ford imho. 🤷♂️
After this herbie should have signed his rights to tribal tech
Do they do this down a half step or is that just the video quality?
+Bobby Cressey Before I started the camera rolling I asked everybody to tune down half a step to my favourite key ;)
Is there a hi-definition version of this around?
Wow, this is from like nineteen eighty-infinity... Scott Henderson's hair. Wow.
First there was the Band of Gypsies... then, there was the Band of Nerds!!
Just kidding! I like it.
what is that neck pickup the bassist has? some sort of woofer?
Alex Hill It's a ramp, look It up, you might find the man himself explaining it

Holy fuck! I mean, everyone on this album is fucking rediculous.. huge musical vocabularies.........Scott just always kills it, lays the fucking hammer down...

hair... no. no. no.
As a white guy that had dreads for 15 years, what the hell was Scott thinking with that mop? He looked like a mostly shaved Komondor. With that said, Tribal Tech is the shiz.
Love Kirks drumming...but don't like watching him...don't need the head moves...lol.
Reminiscent of Wilko Johnson.
I wish herbie took SH as guitarist on his tours instead of that weird dude he has now who I don't know anyone who likes him
If you speak about Lionel Loueke, he's to me a fabulous guitar player
one of the most borin music i ever hear ! before that awful band of canada ! uzeb ! stopit lol !
cultural appropriation band more like... hahahahahhaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
The quality is pretty shitty.
