I think you should widen out the river bridge by an another tile row, so that your colonists can move quickly to your temple for one of the many rituals.
I just noticed that the outro is the one from our XCOM series. I hope you can see past that, as I didn't want to re-render the entire video and delay the episode because of it :)
“It’s not a bug it’s a feature.” Pete didn’t just bless us with Rimworld but also a Easter Egg Xcom episode, we just have to figure out how to unlock its secret
Those communication bubbles are hilarious sometimes: Reddini to Specs: "hold out your arm for your scar" Specs holds out her to Reddini, saying: "so, did you do the laundry yet?"
A small suggestion to add to your temple. A small attached room with a bed in it, set to medical bed but with a forbidden door. The idea is that you unforbid the door during a ritual so that after a scaring or eye removal they take the pawn there instead of the other side of the map to their bed. Just speeds the whole thing up a bit.
My usual wall of remarks: - Yay to not being raiders again! - Redhawk: "One of the odder translation indicates that Redhawk is actually Edmos Companion and lover. It is hard to see how this could be for two such fundamentally different Artifacts." - Maybe consider adding proper "bonfires" (fireplaces) to the temple for heating? I do not think torches are overly efficient. But I have not actually run any numbers here - Of course, you also have to consider that the Blindness meme means your people only accept Dark Light. - Just after picking Blindness, you unlock "Blinding Pulse" Psicast? And on the Pacifist Caster to boot? Fitting. "Make them see the Dark, make them stop fight."

Pete, I love every single Rimworld series you do. That said, I really love this run in particular. I tried playing Rimworld myself, however, no matter how much love I have for this game, I just can't get into it like you do (when I play that is) as I simply can't master the gameplay. That said, watching you play is truly a blessing and I would have never experienced this game over the years the way I have without you and ALL your Rimworld series! Thank you so much for everything you do and Godspeed!
Yeah he is literally teaching us how to play the expansion and meme mechanics in an enjoyable and fun way, which is great because I admit to finding them quite daunting and confusing at first myself.
There isn't really a 'wrong' way to play Rimworld and believe me, my coolonies usually end up being a complete shitfest as well. :D (Also never picking cassy as narrator anymore. She was relentless. On the other hand i was quite 'safe (isolated) due to the wall of mechas EVERYWHHERE on the map.) I once had the bright (pretty dumb) idea to randomize my cult. I ended up with female supremacy tunnelers who loved animals a bit too much (and the rng just had to make it horses as venerated animals to add insult to injury) while accepting each and every dude/dudette on earth and being the most generous people. (but got uber mad when i denied somebody help). First idea was to do the carawan ending but once i got the tunneller trait, i decided to go for the space shuttle instead. From roughly 25 or so colonists about 4 made it out alive, because cassandra decided to start stacking big raids over the usual ones from starting the engine of the shuttle. x)
Yep like the development, its just crazy, like a cult, hope that Pete doesnt manuever himself into a trap, but I guess he has allready planned the end :D
Damn dude. The amount of thought you put into every decision is astounding. Blinding the colonists because of the eye scars! Crazy choice and i love it
I just watched this entire series this week. It was exactly what I am looking for in a Rimworld play though as someone who doesn't play the game myself. Perfect balance of story narration and gameplay mechanics imo. Keep up the good work and can't wait for the next episode.
what a banger of an episode, I really like how the ideology shapes the story, how you manage to reference the other rimworld play throughs... really good stuff. thank you!
You make a good point about raiding from the cold bog, I would love to see a raiding series from you but I feel like blindness works well in this colony. Thank you for your videos Pete!
Such a great episode! I love that you spend so much time on making the ideology both unique and fitting of the colonists in the Cult of Jingz. Glad you're feeling better as well, mate!
Fantastic episode as usual :) Also, I really appreciated the level of detail in the ideology development portion. Just as interesting as gameplay in my opinion.
Your videos are always getting me into the mood to start a new colony. And always i can't help myself to get impatient. You are really disciplined and i respect that.
Very nice choice with the blindsight idea! It's definitely going to feel thematic. I'm guessing there'll be most of the colony who can see and a few revered "blind seers" who do most of the psycasting. At least that's the way I'd play it, both cool and practical. Looking forward to how it all develops next. Hoping to see the village expand even more, really starting to feel like an Iron Age sorta river settlement.
Maybe you could make a "Scar Map"? Or a more general "permanent Injury Map"? With everyone having soon 3 Scars, future loss of eyes and any lasting injuries or disabilities, it can become hard to remember who has what.
'We did not take anyones eyes yet but trust me I have plans for that....' under any other circumstances that would be an extremely worrisome revelation.
I was like 'wait what?' as I was a bit confused by the outro background being XCOM 2 alien 🤣 But it was another fun episode of the Jingz to enjoy, looking forward to what's coming next! And hopefully we'll get a new playthrough with Biotech DLC soon. :)
I love it! I love the changes you made. So glad you didn't go with the raider meme, in my opinion that really would not have suited your cult. At all. Really curious about blindsight, I've not tried that yet. And the Redhawk plasmasword? That made me smile. I love the references to your older playthroughs. Maybe Cambiar makes another appearance, too?
My headcanon is that since Reddini doesn't see all that well, she goes for what is closest. I am utterly certain that any arm or leg scar has just been an accident, for the same reason.
Now that I got back into this series, I find it funny how similar my current base is to yours lol. Boreal forest, river going through the middle, left side big building with rooms and right side the base proper lol
Busy episode, the colony is getting big and getting stuff done! Interested to see how the new ideology changes things, neat choice! Psi-heavy colony with lower tech level is neat.
blindness is like the equivalent of being 12 skillpoints lower in shooting and melee, as far as accuracy goes; so, a blind pawn with 12 shooting and melee has identical accuracy to a pawn with 0 shooting and melee. (this is considered 89% by the game). however, the big danger is surgery; a blind pawn has -40% success chance in surgeries, which is scarily bad. a blind level 20 medical pawn has less success chance than a sighted level 7 medical pawn. construction also has a -10% chance of success when blind, so even level 20 pawns will fail 10% of the time

Hey Pete, just a suggestion. In my latest rimworld playthrough, just as I was about to reach the 350000 colony wealth mark I was attacked by a mechanoid raid composed by 12 centipedes, 8 pikemen and 8 lancers, luckily I had good armor so I could barely dispose of it without a killbox; my main point is that as you approach that mark there will come a pirate raid (as you have mechanoids disabled) that would be impossible to defend with a tribal colony. I think it would be recommended to start using mods such as Giddy-up that would not break the immersion too much and would give your colonist a much-needed edge in battle. Anyway, I leave it up to you and how vanilla you want this playthrough to be.
Awesome series. I think it'd be cool to use the bridge building to build huts in the river for people's rooms, connected by wooden walkways. Would fit the neolithic look. Similar to the town in the episode of avatar the last Airbender called the painted lady.
Without the tree affinity I had been starting off with the carrier dryads but, I've definitely been liking starting with the barkskin dryads alot better and probably getting some clawer dryads next, and had been remembering earlier why I didn't like mountain bases as much in the beginning with square rooms and lighting and infestations, I definitely try not to leave the chunks that erode over time lying around in the tunnels anymore though, as I don't think they help with the chances too much.
4:50 I see Thrumbo horns are a possible pick too. Why didn't you choose this one for the Horn of Edmo? Since it was Edmo's weapon in the desert series... :O
Oh that‘s a funny story! Originally, the Horn of Edmo was indeed a Thrumbohorn, just like the counterpart from our desert series. At some point during the creation of the Ideology prior to EP1, I guess I must have accidentally switched to the elephant tusk and didn‘t notice until the first episode was already done. Changing it afterwards wasn‘t really possible and probably would have messed up the relic questline, so I left it that way as a small easter egg. But the intention was definitely for it to be a Thrumbohorn
