  • Based in Dorset in the UK, Monkey World is the largest monkey and ape rescue centre on the planet. For nearly three decades, the team has saved countless primates - across 20 countries - from lives of cruelty, abuse, and neglect. This safe haven is now home to more than 200 monkeys and apes. The dedicated staff never stop in their quest to save animals from being mistreated by owners, ending up in laboratories or being exploited in the entertainment industry.

Omg let these people see what Travis did to Carla in 2009. He was a pet of Sandra for 14 yrs and Carla was always around Travis so she definitely wasn't a stranger. She had to have a face transplant after years of having to hide her face and hands. Sandra had him since he was a baby and raised him but he still has animal instincts and they will rip you apart. This lady Carla will never have a normal life again.

Omg I can see why people would want them as babies omy gosh they are so adorable but no I would never want one bc they do grow up and they do belong with their own kind. Imagine be taken away by an alien and held captive on a cage large or small. Going to a zoo even makes me tearful and I also get it why we have them. Except for white alligator that we had all though he was beautiful and unique he was also creepy. He was 28 y o when our zoo lost him.

I don't remember if I saw what happened with the first one and how it went with getting its mate? How is the baby gibbon doing and Alex doing, he was just starting to explore the outdoor enclosure 🐒🥰😍😇??! How is the baby orangutan and Oshine getting along? Is she letting him have a little more freedom or is she still hauling him back to her side if any of the other young ones want to play too much and too far from her side🦧🐒?

Sigh..I get wanting to help animals. I get wanting to help animals where there habitat has been destroyed. Chimps are violent and people see the happy, funny, friendly side that is most often shown. Not shown to the full extent is the jealous, abusive, violent, stubborn aspencts. NO it is not evil humans fault either. For whatever reason when an animal able to mame, cripple, or kill a person attacks the animal must be destroyed or relocated as far away from sociaty as humanly possibe. It happens once it will happen again. I am NOT an expert but have friends that are in rescue, and in the vet field who have degrees and have given me incredible insite. It is a painfull decision but "Feelings" must be replaced by facts and responsibility. I am not looking for debate, replies, or an f-u. I just felt the need to comment.

    “Rescue” ? Seriously???
9 out of 10 baby monkeys here are being raised by the humans, under the guise that “momma won’t feed it…”
    G i v e M e A B r e a k !
They are so cute the human want to cuddle & hold them, play with them, etc.
just because a momma does not nurse right away, it does NOT mean the staff should just take the baby & raise it!!!! Shame on you!! That is what you are doing!!!!! Looking for the slightest tiny problem, just to take the baby to raise! The staff should take other measures to try to see that the mother feeds the baby. Like reposition the baby on her breast. Get the mother to hold the baby. Put them in a much smaller enclosure. There are tons of ways for the mom to be redirected where she will be more likely to feed her baby….. staff immediately taking the baby away and raising it themselves is not the answer. That’s what they’re trying to do all the time. Again, because those babies are cute, and cuddly. Strange, they don’t want other people doing that with monkeys, yet they’re doing that. Do as I say not as I do?????

I have great news for you. You are wrong. On the other hand…if what you say is true, don’t you think it’s your moral responsibility to contact Monkey World with information on the procedures outlined in your comment? I can guarantee that here in the TV show comments, we really can’t do anything about it. When world renowned Vets like John Lewis and a park director with a PhD in biological anthropology plus an exceptional animal director and a highly trained staff didn’t know how to “get the mother to hold the baby”, then they really do need your input. And if you are right, and what they’re doing over there is just taking turns raising baby animals in their homes, then someone needs to speak up. I’m really shocked at your statistic that 9 out of 10 baby monkeys there are being hand reared. You should contact Dr Cronin as soon as you can.
