It is A LOT of work to do by yourself. I have been doing it myself for years, and have gravitated to shoes and jackets.
BUT...I get tons of different things, which usually stay unposted. Lol
The work though...washing everything, mending, steaming, taking pics, editing pics...etc.
    It drives my husband crazy...
He hates it that I wash most everything. "Why, why, why...", he says.
Because, who wants to buy something that smells, or has dog hair? I don't!!
I set my standards, and I admit, I am a total perfectionist with ADHD.
Which does me no favors in this business.
    But I love doing it!
I love the find, and I love the sell...the money is nice, of course, but I enjoy the pleasure I receive, and the pleasure I give, by providing buyers a great product, and a great experience.
I found a brand new Vineyard Vines with tags! Didn't know it was a thing, until just now! 😁
Thanks for the videos. I'm learning a lot, even though I've been a seller on eBay for a long time. 🥰

I been doing Offer Up for a more then a year and barely getting into eBay, but I'm like you... I go to the point of scrubbing white jerseys with toothbrush to make them look perfect, count every piece in board games, turn on every electronic to make sure it works, scrap what doesn't just for customer satisfaction, I think it's worth more then making a buck...

When selling collectibles you have to be very careful to both photograph all sides, show close up photos of any damage or wear, and describe in writing what is wrong with the item, which adds time to your listing.

I found rental properties my specialty. However, life changes. I had a 4 plex that I lived in one of the units and 5 townhouses. It worked well for me. But when I retired, I sold everything off and live a debt free life. I do not need much to live on as everything is paid for. Retired early and loving life that I built with passive income.

I love that you said people look at what they’ll get paid instead of how much work they can do. We sell on eBay because our business is seasonal. We basically cost ourselves money paying our employees to do basically nothing so they don’t get laid off in the winter. As soon as season starts they all always ask for a raise. This winter considering just laying off because they don’t appreciate getting paid for a full work week al winter while working 30 hours or less for 4 months.

I was a DMM for dresses in a large department store chain. (The DMM is the buyers boss). Dress returns would run 10-20%. Women would buy more than one dress for an event and then return the ones they did not wear. Sometimes try to return the ones they DID wear. 24:45 "rental property is easier than reselling". Funny thing is, I do both. Rental property is a lot of work. Upkeep, property tax, insurance, legal exposure from people getting hurt on your property, mortgage payments, and pain in the ass tenants. Trust me, rental property is a grind and if you think it's like the game monopoly you need to watch a few videos of what properties look like after tenants get evicted.

I disagree with having only one eBay store, I’ve dodged their very strict seller limits and restrictions by using 2 accounts. I can’t afford to lose 100% of my income while eBay takes all the time until he works to decide that I’m really not that bad of a seller, and they should reinstate my account, but I can afford to lose 50% of it

The Pay question is a tough one because the housing market has gone crazy. The City I live in was ranked as the hottest real estate market in the United States for last year. Before that most brand new houses were 160-180k now they're over 250k easily. I bought my house brand new in 2006 for 100k and it's worth well over 200k now. I quit my job last year making 57k per year and went full-time. And my Wife makes enough to pay the bills so reselling is just fun money for us. So realistically anything is good for me LOL

    Hi everyone,
Newbie seller here. I wanted to give some words of encouragement. I started reselling about 2 months ago. My first month I did $5,000 in sale with NET likely to be about half of that. The second month is looking to match it. So it is possible. Unfortunately I would wake up, spend all day listing, researching, learning and would go to bed to wake up to do it again. I know he debunks it taking all day to be successful and that it can be done in maybe an hour or two. That was my experience though. I was happy to do it and its an easy way to make money, but I need some of that time back to edit my videos :)
    cheers to everyones success.

39:38 I absolutely understand what you're saying here as an owner. A employees pay should be determined by the work they put in. However, most companies don't see things that way. I for example know more about my job then my store manager, even our district leader. Yet every time I reach out for a raise I'm denied.
It's the reason I choose Ebay and plan on going full time. My pay will be based on the efforts I put forth. I slack off a day, my pay suffers, I bust my butt, I reap the rewards.
I think anyone you bring in, get to know, and put time and effort into their training will bring great results. Seems like you care alot about the employees under you.

Just like in thrifting and reselling, know your strengths is my motto. If you are handy and can do certain tasks, do them! If its outside your bank of knowledge, hire the professionals. Its time and money, if you don't have the time, you can have the money to pay for someone to do it! If you have the time and are capable, you'll save money! Same with reselling. If you know your strengths are buying low and selling high, you do the thrifting. If you have the money and hate the listing end, you hire someone to free your time for more profitable tasks. I think thats where people go wrong. Spread themselves too thin, not have the time to deal with their deathpiles, or the money to pay someone to do it for them! Know your strengths! Love your videos! So much great info! Oh oh....and if you can stand the mess, freeze some bananas and give one to baby! Baby gets gums numbed, from icy banana and good vitamins, and happy messy baby through teething! Kiss banana baby!

In my experience, living in Iowa, the minimum liveable wage needed where I could afford a 1 bedroom apartment was like $11/$12 per hour in rural areas and around $14/$15 per hour in urban areas. But honestly should probably favor the larger number due to recent cost of living increases if not add another dollar. Most of the time I would have a roommate just so I could afford certain luxuries but I have done it in the past solo with said numbers. This could be done cheaper if you went to the extreme on savings and making ever dollar count...I just didn't go that far.

Hopefully him and his family get plenty of quality time to just “be” in the moment. It goes by so fast when you’re moving as fast as he does. I raised two kids in the Bay Area Cali on my own with no child support. I was in the survival mode for so long just to afford basic living costs for us. You definitely have to have motivation, drive and perseverance. This man has all three.. admirable. And he takes the time to teach us. I have been told several times that they do not just unlock the listing limits. I had to request increases every time I hit my limit until I got to about $5K in sales , 90 days, and maybe around 200 sales. Now they just increase me every time I get close to the limit, but it's not even usually a really big increase. This on an account that is about 15 years old and has never been in bad health. I'm pretty sure I used to have a 10000 item limit, but I went away from ebay selling for about 5 years.

    • @honestcomment862
      @honestcomment862 2 года назад

A lot of Funko buyers are super selective and picky. It's actually quite easy to become a Funko authorized seller however they just raised the min. order quantity. They also ship from the west coast and it's very expensive if you live on the east coast. In addition, you don't have access to most of the exclusives and rarer items that you would want to sell. So, it may not be worthwhile for most small sellers. There are distributors that you can buy from that may be a better option.

You need to look at current listings for rooms for rent in California. I live in the San Joaquin Valley and rent for a room is $1000 a month. A one bedroom apartment $2200. To qualify you have to make 3 times the monthly rent and put down a deposit plus first month's rent. It's crazy expensive to even rent a room.

Everyone thinks a general contractor is easy and anyone can do it lol. Don't think like that you have no pull and people won't show up for you if someone with more pull calls they will up and leave mid job. You can't drywall before electrician, plumbing is done. You can't paint until drywall finisher is done ext. Did I say you have no pull? Lol meaning this is a one time job for the contractors and you. They won't care if you get put off because they need to work for someone that basically feeds them everyday by hiring them for multiple jobs not just once and done. So in my opinion it's worth it to just hire someone to contract yeah it seems like a waste of money because they just hire out jobs but more to it remember they have more pull. Just hope you hire a good one. Also on your number system wouldn't it be easy to go from 5 numbers to 6? So like 99999 then next would be 100000 and go behind and just keep going. Or could you go 2 rows of numbers? Seems like a pain to do that but have a bunch of 99999 printed out and then below that add another 00001.

    • @Sundayfunnies
      @Sundayfunnies 2 года назад +2

Something people don't think about also when they think they can be GC. Who you hire to do the work. Do they finish on time? Do they do a good a job? You could hire a sub that never finishes or takes weeks longer. The GC knows who to hire to get the job done right and on time.

I like your pay now for eBay auctions. Tired of nonpayers.

Hi, I primarily sell in clothing and getting into shoes...if listing everyday does that mean listing in each category you sell in or just being sure to list on ebay everyday period? Thanks!

Good question. I have been thinking about the same thought because I sell in different categories.

Collectors do tend to have a high rate of returns. I sold a Switch game brand new but the seal broke a tiny bit and it was returned.

As far as niche’ ing down would that be considered just that of or just women’s ? I do primarily clothing but I do men’s as well. Maybe I should just do women’s. Something to consider.

Hey Chris I tried the schedule listing for a week and my sales on ebay tanked as soon as I started listing on my own the next week my sales went up immediately. Maybe it was a fluke but I am not willing to spend the extra when it did not keep my sales going so now I draft a 35 listings for that week so I can list 5 everyday now

I have a reseller's permit through the state of Wisconsin. But I have never used it to not pay sales tax. I didn't know that was a benefit of it. Are there other benefits to me having the reseller's permit?

I live in Australia. I think minimum wage is like $780pw now and people still complain they're poor and can't make ends meet. They're poor alright, poor with money.

You say in other videos that you should not specialize when first starting a reseller store. At what point should you be specialized in a niche?
