1st Ugly Drum Smoker Build

This is my first attempt to build a ugly drum smoker. Since I have no welding experience, me and my friend Robbie went in and split the cost of this drum. We bought the barrel, purchased the drum kit from Big Poppa Smokers. Everything in this kit will allow you to build an UDS with no welding. The powder coating was done locally here in Memphis, Tn by Rick’s Powder Coating. We had a lot of fun building this drum and honestly it was fairly easy to put this thing together. I think I will call her Daisy!

What kind of basket is that and does it work well and good heat for awhile

The basket was part of the kit that I got from Big Poppa Smokers. It doesn’t seem like it would last too long if you use the drum a lot, but since I’m mostly a weekender when it comes to smoking I think it will do me fine.
