Man, this one's nostalgic. This one was technically my first Tactics Ogre game, even if I never owned it. After all, this game never made it to Europe. Back when I first learned about emus (fun birds btw!) I played all kinds of games and this one stuck out to me because it looked like FFTA, a game I actually owned and liked a whole lot. The device I used back then only ran the game at a snail's pace, but I really liked it regardless. It's indirectly responsible for me getting LUCT on my PSP years after the fact because I recognized the name. I recently returned to KoL on a whim and it's still really fun. My favorite thing about it by far, is that monster units actually feel pretty nice to use in low power scenarios like this. Nowadays, they make great mobile tanks in Reborn, but in KoL, they actually are just decent units as a whole because their equipment screen isn't just collecting dust. I also completely forgot how dragons worked in this one, so when mine suddenly evolved mid-fight yesterday, that was pretty hype.
I spent a lot of my early teens absolutely in love with this game, so it feels really great to hear it get the praise it deserves. In my mind it's one of the best games on the Gameboy Advance, no question.
Absolutely, I love how they understood the limitations of the platform and just decided to double down on really solid animations. This series has always been good at "limitation? No, we're making that a feature."
I also spent an insane amount of time on this game getting all the secret stuff and every ending. Having played "LUCT" before this the Alphonse-Lans ending totally blew my mind.
I found this game very fun back in the day even though I never finished it, what got me really interested on it in comparison to FFTA (what I was playing before) was that you could recruit monsters and use them on your team even if they weren't all that great and the emblem system, really liked the variety of teams and builds you could make
Imagine this: You buy Reborn, finish the game and a text pops up: You unlocked The Knight of Lodis. And they all played us like a damn fiddle hiding the fact that they secretly remade that and put it into the game too👀
I would love to see all of the games unlocked like this. Especially if KoL was hidden behind the assassination ending like "we must go further back in time to find the true happy ending."
This is one my favorite games growing up and ff tactics and KoL are what formed my love for tactics game and this is a gem of a video to have watch while on my lunch break keep up the content man!

So my dude, I love the video, I love anything about Knight of Lodis. The most memorable things about this game to me were the twins and how this is essentially the Warhammer of tactical JRPGs with the way it's version of turn based works. I've also been watching the Tactics Ogre Reborn vids, and if Square Enix loved us, it would hide a Knight of Lodis Remake in chapter 4 of the CODA as a flashback.

"Where do I know you from?" Then it highlighted him on Barnicia. I recognised the sword. I pointed at the screen and said "OH MY GOD! THAT'S HIM! THAT'S ALPHONSE!" a few minutes later "...Awww that means the 'A' ending is canon'."

Dang right it did, covering the Barren Soul update as soon as possible. Definitely give it a go, like all Ogre games there's always that online hyperbole factor there. Nothing's really useless, bows definitely have their role, and are arguably the most balanced in the series. Actually speaking of OV, that's basically what they're like. Long range, kinda plinky, but very useful if used right. Plus since the equipment isn't restricted in any way, you can have your own archer Hawkmen parked on top of walls pretty early. Actually it's kind kinda neat that bow units are probably the most varied and well utilized by the AI here too. I first found out how bad out of water mermaid defense was when doing Ostorea, and seeing Aeriel get two tapped by the two archers from across the map pretty much immediately. @@CoffeePotato Yeah, when you mentioned the lack of equipment restriction, I thought that it can lead to exciting team building shenanigans, and I'm all for it. After putting over 600 hours into Reborn, I find myself intrigued by this game (mostly to get more of the story and lore). I know there are 2 main paths and 5 endings, but I don’t want to get spoiled about anything. All I want to know is: Does this game have a system like WORLD in Reborn where you can go back and take the other path on the same save file, or is it mandatory to start completely over to see the other path? Thanks for all your awesome content!
Have you seen that new romhack for this called lancelot? On your comment about multiplayer I got vbalink with 2 windows open and you can get those big multiplayer emblems. The stats are a bit cheat mode but it's also nice to get deneb early. Always hated how many soldier levels she needed to become an int class it really set her behind compared to persuade a caster enemy. I didn't get to enjoy this game as a kid unfortunately I discovered it as an adult but damn is it a gem man. It's insane how such a simple yet elegant game falls through the radar so easily because of lack of marketing. Which ending/route did you prefer? I tended to go b route cuz I hated how alphonse and eleanor end up when the alternate was their elopement.
I have not, but I'm downloading it for a video tomorrow as we speak! B route all the way, I love how dang close they were to a happy ending the whole time. It's why I made a joke trailer about continuing on from every non canon timeline ruclips.net/video/PuewHMxtmQ8/видео.html

After putting over 600 hours into Reborn, I find myself intrigued by this game (mostly to get more of the story and lore). I know there are 2 main paths and 5 endings, but I don’t want to get spoiled about anything.
All I want to know is:
Does this game have a system like WORLD in Reborn where you can go back and take the other path on the same save file, or is it mandatory to start completely over to see the other path?
Thanks for all your awesome content!
@@enigmazero8624 It doesn't have that, every choice is permanent, but it's also not a very long game.
@ thank you very much for the response
Been playing this game for two days i didnt event get how to save
Right Trigger.
Hey can you overview these --> " Onimusha Tactics " + " Knights in the Nightmare " !
On the list to try out, I haven't played them yet unfortunately.
3 months left baby tactics ogre reborn
*Excited twitching*
Wow, in 2022, is anyone still playing the GBA game when I search for the keyword tactics ogre GBA on average 4 years ago
Absolutely, quite a few still play this gem.
It's why I made a joke trailer about continuing on from every non canon timeline

@@CoffeePotato nice dude looking forward to hearing what you think of it. I just found out about it myself it's barely off the lot. Any excuse to get another kol playthrough am I right?
I never tested this but was wondering if you knew. Does the enemy scale with the level of the main character or with the average level of the party (excluding guests)?
What does the C mean?
Chaotic alignment.
@@CoffeePotato ooh thanks, got my lich
One of my absolute favorite gems in the GBA time, alongside Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
There's still much I haven't seen yet and didn't know that there are different endings
Yup, several, 5 I think.
The emblem system is all time. ALL TIME.
@@x.av1er Absolutely.
RIP Arnas, we hardly knew ye.
But is now WEAPON. So we know ye huge numbers.
I wish have a remake!
Me: intentionally went after the False Hero and Don Quixote emblems in an attempt to nerf my units to make the game more challenging
You gotta chase those windmills somehow. If you want a super legit challenge run, you can use cheats to hire Mermaids from the start, as well as class Alphonse as one. Good lord they're awful outside of the water, it was harder than faeries by far.
@@CoffeePotato huh thanks for the suggestion
Denab? Did Denam and Deneb had a time paradox child? XD
Ohh, KoL remastered, using Luct engine(or whatever) ❤
Oh, I was really confused about the spelling as a kid, that's what the 90s computer story was about.
Yessssss!!!
Pretty sure I got the bad ending the first time I played through this one XD
Cataclysm definitely hurts, or did you mean the 3 other bad endings?
Level 50 Lubinina with a level 50 generic Fairy Snapdragon if something lands a melee hit on you (screenshot or it didn't happen) post it😂
Hell, just a level 50 faerie in general, them suckers just dance around the final boss. We did take one casualty in the final part of Faerie Only, which may have been a 1%.
@@CoffeePotato vs mode shenanigans
The menu's are to confusing
All the emblems and weird stuff, just yanked right out of reborn.. So lame.
Uhh ....you're joking, right?
This game is overly complicated
I can't tell if you're serious or joking 🤔
Is it good using Rebalanced hack version of TKOL? i want the definitive experience of this game cuz i love LuCT so much.
the summary of changes in the hack are;
Rebalanced most classes.
Improved Dragons.
Improved special abilities.
Buffed weak special characters.
Better katanas and fans.
Big equipment and weapon weight changes.
Some level changes.
Higher difficulty.

If you want the definitive experience, play the original. I played the mod a bit ago, but didn't feel like it really redefined the experience, it felt like personal tweaks someone preferred.
@@CoffeePotato ok got it, yeah i think that is just objective takes/personal experience, Perhaps i'll try the original and the hack to see which one that i can get into it.. Thanks man.
@@AlAensland Yup, and yeah, the original did a good job of rebalancing itself on the fly, I felt like a lot of the rebalancing might have been done without understanding why certain things were how they were, but different strokes and all that.
