Little by little, more wonderful work of Medtner is being made accessible in high quality performances and videos. This is a great performance of my single favorite collection of Medtner works. Op 39 is such a unit.
This is incredible. The colorfulness, smooth phrasing and excellent passagework stand out. Very commendable achievement by Richard. Well done and thank you!
How wonderfully played, excellent sound too! Thank you thank you thank you! How unbelievable that Medtner be such an underrated composer when even Rachmaninov looked up to him! What infinite romance, beauty and melancholy in those forgotten melodies! Cannot wait until you spoil us with your own interpretation of his opus 38 and 40, just as superb! Bravo Charles!
Nicolai Medner,…why so infamous,…what happend⁉️,…. This so extremely musical,… the most beautiful pianomusic ever,…beautifully preformed! I’ll love this pianomusic deeply!
Medtner was misunderstand by musical critics of 20th century and was marked as not modern enough, thought he was, in terms of form, structure, development, atd. He just wasn't atonal, dodecaphonic, or experimental composer. Plus after he emigrated from Russian he was banned by Stalin. But nowadays, he definitely deserves to be treated like one of the greatest composers ever!!
@@teodorb.p.composer Thanks for your answer,… this was not to be taken seriously,… sorry! My point is,…Bach is utterly beautiful music then en still in 2024,… and probably far away in the future! Who gives a fuck 😵💫 criticism ? People wants to do interesting!
This is so superb, Medtner is one of the greatest composers ever, but he is so underappreciate, thank you for your sublime astonishing performance!

I really appreciate this recording. Kind of unexpected one from CRH, but always has warmth in the passion of fire... terrific!
音の粒が自由に弾けるようです

@@teodorb.p.composer Ah… you could say the same with Bach,…😏 You could criticize him too; being not modern enough ! Madness 😵💫
@@jacquesmeibergen But Bach was fortuntely born in age when no one critized him for not being modern, actually it was more like the opposite.

@@jacquesmeibergenYeah, I agree.
素晴らしい...!!
Thank you - I enjoyed that a lot! 🎼🎶
Medtner checks all the boxes, except for memorable melodies. But I'll still keep coming back for more.
Sonata Reminiscenza first theme would like to have a word...
well they are called forgotten melodies for a reason
The 2nd theme from the 1st movement of Sonata Romantica is one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. The 2nd theme of Tragica too.
