Nicolai Medner,…why so infamous,…what happend⁉️,…. This so extremely musical,… the most beautiful pianomusic ever,…beautifully preformed! I’ll love this pianomusic deeply!

Medtner was misunderstand by musical critics of 20th century and was marked as not modern enough, thought he was, in terms of form, structure, development, atd. He just wasn't atonal, dodecaphonic, or experimental composer. Plus after he emigrated from Russian he was banned by Stalin. But nowadays, he definitely deserves to be treated like one of the greatest composers ever!!

How wonderfully played, excellent sound too! Thank you thank you thank you! How unbelievable that Medtner be such an underrated composer when even Rachmaninov looked up to him! What infinite romance, beauty and melancholy in those forgotten melodies! Cannot wait until you spoil us with your own interpretation of his opus 38 and 40, just as superb! Bravo Charles!

Stunning interpretation ! It is impressive how Mr Hamelin can switch from one Prelude to another which is equivalent to switch very fast from one state of mind to another, from joy to pain, from Paradise to Hell..Beautiful sound and phrasing.

I like the pause to reflect between each one ,also the slower considered tempo of some.(maybe also try slower in no 23 to contrast with 24 ? :like julianna avdeeva does) . In 21 he does some lovely effects in the left hand halfway through

Very well played, thank you for this! Really good interpretation of a music that is no so well known as Chopin or other popular composers, which makes it even harder to play because you have so little inspiration from other pianists! I've played the 1st, 3rd and 4th movement of this suite. Now practicing the 2nd.
