Thanks for this video. I just did muslce ups for the first time today. I'm 47 years old and it took me about 6 months, but no matter how many times I failed, I kept coming back and tried again. The exercises you demonstrate helped a lot. I can also do front levers over the bar (pullovers) and I couldn't do them 6 months ago.

This was really good video, many tips, really well explained all the progressions and different conditionings for the muscle up. You have really thought about it and put it all there for everybody to see. Thanks for this video. I knew almost all of the information already, but this was a confirmation and I actually got new ideas for my training from this. It's hard to get fast results when you train many things at the same time and sometimes I have too much passion about one movement so that I'm too sore (sometimes train 3 days in a row) to do all the hard moves. I have to learn to rest also, I guess it's part of growing in strength for everybody it's something different. Hope to see more videos in the near future! Thanks, its old but still kinda gold! be careful with the chicken wing, they can helt you but if done wrong be hurting your elbows and shoulders. better stick to the other progressions and maybe use resistance bands.

Great tutorial, reflects pretty much how I learnt it. Except, I used rubber bands also for assistance in the beginning.
Thank you, Im not a fan of the rubber band since it change your body position if you don't tense and pull your legs down wich you wouldn't do in a normal muscle up :) but I respect people using it and getting help from it, just not the way I teach people

Good set of tips, the only one I think is not a good idea is the "chicken wing" movement, one day I got my left shoulder hurt by doing that, so watch out!!

I Dont like it either but back then I wanted to show how I did it in the beginning. If you're careful, warmed up and work both sides it can actually build strength and technique.

Thank you for this tutorial! Really helped me with getting a clean muscle up. My problem though is that I can't do more reps for the muscle up, even with the kip. I can't even do more than one high pull up. How do I fix this?
Just keep trying until you can. Or burn body fat by sprints

great video Mike! I'll make sure i show this to my friends who are just starting calisthenics. I need to ask a question though , i'm thinking of mixing calisthenics with the gym . I've been doing calisthenics for almost a year now and i have gained alot of strength but my body just got ripped , i only gained 3-4kg of muscle and thats why im thinking of combining them. the problem is i dont know how to combine the two. On what days do i do calisthenics or weight training , is it one day weight training and the other calisthenics ?? Please answer in detail what you do each day. Thanks!
you can do calisthenics one day and weight the next day and so on. if you wanna build muscles then you can att weights to dips, pull ups and push ups.
you can also start your workout with calisthenics and finish with weights
