I'm tinking of buying this because of the pitch fader, they're the biggest you get in an entry level and I don't sync so I'll be beatmatching by ear. Do you think Traktor S2 is more precise? Even being way smaller? Thanks
It’s crazy how I always hit the like button out of support, before I hear one word on your videos. Then you start spewing out your knowledge, and I’m hooked until the last word anyway...lol Keep killing it brother. You’re a God send to our community!!!
Thanks Terry. It was a good decision to make a review of entry level gear. I think, as an experienced, your reviews and gear insights are more beneficial to upcoming DJs than the older ones. In fact, as big brother DJ with more resources (you receive review gear and you have a numbers of your own), you could make some of your reviews with longer versions that are more entry DJ focused (with more tutorial detail) to help groom the your little DJ bros. Good work.
In the words of DJ Khaled. "Another one" Great review CT! I just purchased the Pro FX last week, as a back up and couldn't be happier. Numark really makes some solid controllers. Appreciate your channel and in depth content.#Salute
I have this exact unit, the Newmark Mixtrack Platinum FX, and I use split cue all the time. The split cue functions are located right above the cross faders. If I’m not mistaken, split cue is auditioning a track in your headphones while the current track is playing out through the monitors. That function is available on this unit, unless I’m missing something.🤔
That is not split cue, that’s standard monitoring. Split cue separates the audio in your headphones, left ear is your cue record, right ear is the actual monitor of the sound playing in your speakers.
@@ClevelandTerry OK, that’s a lot more clear, and that function is available with this unit. I’m a beginner and the reason I bought this unit was specifically for that feature / function. If I press the headphone button on the left I’m able to hear / audition the next song that I have cued up in one ear. Also, I am able to hear what’s playing out to the monitors in my other ear. I’ve been messing around with this unit for the past three or four weeks.
I have the Numark Scratch that also has paddles a great mixer for $500. I also have the NS6II controller I wish they had paddles but the touch features work great
6:26, Absence of a Zero click is not the problem. I used to charge $25 in the '90s to remove the Zero click from the Technics SL-1200 MKII pitch fader. It was hard to mix around the zero click on the pitch faders, if the records had close BPMs. I would remove the bearing and spring that was captured inside the fader assembly. But with vinyl, we didn't have bpm readouts, it was all done by ear. What is troublesome is the cheesy fader/digital converter hardware used, providing terrible MIDI resolution.
I agree with you when we were using analog and the zero click weren’t accurate but now in an all digital environment that shouldn’t matter, but yes the resolution is the big issue.
Good Job as always Cleveland. I would love to see you review on the "Roland 202" beginner controller. I saw one of your previous comments about the Hercules controller when you said they should send you one. I hope Roland sends you one soon. Keep up the good work.
I reakon the one with no bpm display is better for practicing manual beatmatching as you cant really ignore it when it's right on the jog wheel like that and you can always check it on the computer afterwards. You would have to cover it up when you get the boys round for no bpm counter nights!!! I prefer the practice and just to look at the computer.
4 deck controllers are good for when you run a online radio station and playing back to back music like i use too. not even pro dj's hardly use 4 decks to jam with unless its just for show. even virtual dj has 4 deck option and the only time i used it was to run my internet radio station i could slip my station jingles in while inbetween music.
I don't usually watch reviews about gear because I'd rather just go in-store somewhere and try it out, but covid. So thank you! This has been super helpful. Any chance you tried it with VDJ8? I know it's primarily mapped and designed for Serato, but I've been a VDJ user for many years now and changing over doesn't sound like my idea of a good time. (I checked VDJ 8 and it's mapped, so that's helpful.). Thanks for your review!
Hidden note: You can use all your available Serato efx if you don't press the buttons to activate an efx. Change it within the software and you can use any of them.
@@czscorpio, you're not activating them with the controller. Set your effects within the software. Don't manually use the buttons on the controller to set them. Then you can manually trigger them with the switches and still use the wet/dry knows and the beat knob.
Easy break down. Edm. For Platinum fx. And for Scratch dj. Mix pro. I went with the the Platinum fx and regretted it. If you plan on scratching at all. Even baby scratch dropping one the one. U will not like it. Because. The jog wheel is to heavy way to heavy for scratching and never seems to line up at all when scratching and dropping but for dj that don't scratch this is perfect for them. Just my 2cents
I was just brainstorming going through acouple reviews on the latest/best Controllers to downsize my equipment for smaller Gigs and what do know you just uploaded a gem as soon as I hit my subs page! thanks Cleveland. I'm debating on this Platinum FX vs. the Pioneer DDJ-SB3. in your honest opinion which one is better?
I like this controller and wanted to buy as a controller to use around the house and in the backyard,. I don't like that it comes with Serto intro, it is compatible with VDJ and my license will let me use it in VDJ, but I would have liked something more than Intro as the default software. I am actually looking at the DDJ 400 as it comes with Rekord Box and I can get some expose to that software.
Don't. Do it to yourself. Vdj where its at. Once u go to record box u will hate it real quick. I have the ddj 800 and I got it 4 free. Man. Night and day recordbox and vdj. U will see what I'm talking about. And as far as Platinum fx. I have that as well got it to be a second controller since jog wheels are same size and have info screen. Its just that the jog wheel to heavy. When scratching. And the. Ddj 800 has the tensioner. That allows scratching.
I saw Jamie Hartley of Crossfader demoing the Mixtrack Pro FX and Platinum FX in one of his review videos and near the end, he showed that by holding shift and clicking on the Hot Cue button you can access your Serato Flips. If you hold shift and click the Sampler button you can access the Tone Play feature. You of course need Serato DJ Pro and the required Flip and Pitch N Time expansion packs to use these features.
This does not feel entry level it feels very pro let’s be honest. I own platinum fx and it feels great the jog wheels are nice and the whole build is nice I’m now going to buy a flightcase for it.
@@ClevelandTerry ok... I'm on the DDJ 400... With a Beringer XEBYX 502 as my audio interface. One problem I am having is that my Dell Inspiron laptop when I plug my 3.5 jack into the input... Emits a high pitched whine.. and I can't figure out why it's doing that... I have dinner monitors as speakers here.. the mic is heard out here.. and OBS shows it's levels are there... Did I do this correctly and lastly... Where do I go to have an active mic... No more interface... DDJ sx3 or where... NUMARK... This mic situation is really trying my nerves now... USB connected 👍🏿👍🏿
It’s nice to see Numark finally getting some love. I’ve been rocking a Numark controller for years now starting with their Mixdeck Express controller in 2014. I upgraded over a year ago to their NS6 II deck. Numark pushes a great product minus they not having the prestige of pioneer controllers or others like it. Nice review T.

For me it's a toss up better the Platinum and the new Hercules Impulse 500. For $300 the Impulse has its share of advantages that can almost compare to an intermediate controller. Made of metal and has colored pads.
It baffles me that a DJ deck in 2020 doesn't have a zero position indent on the pitch fader SMH. Nowadays, every controller should come with at least 2 outputs, this is otherwise a good controller, but I wouldn't buy it with my money 😡😡. Thanks for the review!!
I forgot the Numark Scratch has FX paddles. Whoops. That’s what happens when you have to record the video twice. 😀
You should review the hurcules dj impulse 500
They should send it to me. 😀
