As someone who has platinums on both games let me say this: they’re totally different games, sure they share a time period, but beyond that there really aren’t many similarities

sekiro is a great game with some of the hardest and one of, if not the greatest combat systems, while ghost of Tsushima has good fluid, combat but nothing compared to sekiro, but i recommend ghost of Tsushima if u want a emotional and one of the greatest stories in video game history (oh yeah ghost is also SO GODAMN BEAUTIFUL)

Not everyone likes the combat in Sekiro. It's tight, but it's definitely not the best. For actual combat the best games are obviously beat em ups, souls games can't compare mechanically to them. So they aren't flawless, the great thing about the combat in Ghost is it's so smooth and so enjoyable, things like crowd control / ambush planning and freedom are all parts of combat done better in Ghost than in Sekiro. Sekiro while being more nuanced also feels undeniably clunkier. They both realistically play very very differently but I couldn't say one is better than the other, one is harder in Sekiro for sure. One thing that is for sure better in Ghost is the bow/bows, the bow in Ghost is one of the best you'll find. I'm actually more perplexed by the story category. I don't get why anyone thinks Ghost has a good story, it's tropey, predictable and boring. Everyone just seems to want that these days. I'm glad there are games out there actually being brave and are willing to anger fans that want their vanilla joy rides. I much much much, prefer any Miyazaki games story to Ghost, Sekiro is way more intriguing. It tells a story without having to tell it.

@@Dielit305You find Lady Butterfly in the Hirata Estate, which technucally is an optional area. Gyoubu is the first mandatory boss of the main storyline.
@@ilyantaresTbh Lady Butterfly made me learn the Combat System. I flyed through the game after that, until I reached True Corrupted Monk. True Corrupted Monk was the only boss I had to cheese to kill.
The only boss that never tasted my Katana was Owl(Father). 100% the hardest boss I have ever encountered and couldn't beat. 2nd hardest was Isshin, I was literally one hit from death when I killed him.
Sekiro has the greatest combat mechanics I’ve ever experienced in any game… ever.
Sekiro's combat is definitely up there but its not like there aren't any other games with equally great combat. It's just difficult to compare games with vastly different combat mechanics and gameplay overall.

@@Aslavetofreedom I was about to mention DMC lol. I recently beat Sekiro and it's just one of the best games I ever played but DMC has a special place in my heart. Both great games but yeah Sekiro's combat and dmc's combat are different yet these are the most fun combats I ever experienced

@@lookipooki4932 user experience is a thing, something the majority find hard might not be for some people in the minority, but bosses that are hard for the level and stage of progression are the isshin boss, 20 attempts is still 20 attempts for you, and other people still classify him as a harder boss then most if not all of fromsofts, and the demon of hatred without using bugs like the fall off one, its like putting a dark souls boss in sekiro, like how they failed with putting a sekiro boss like malenia in Elden ring, true owl father is also a hard one, hell even guardian ape had multiple people struggling. And the gauntlets are hard too. User experience varies from person to person, just cause you had a easy time doesn't mean that devalues the fact most people put these bosses on a higher pedestal then you, it's objective and yours is opinionated
Sekiro combat is simply the state of the art. I really loved Ghost too, but Sekiro is simply something out of range

You can’t really compare them cause they are too different and every one has their own taste in combat
Ghost of tsushima is a pain in the a$$ on lethal difficulty. On the PS5, Ghost of Tsushima feels like a whole different experience in the Kurasawa Mode display settings. But Sekiro has epic bosses and that's not really the focus in Ghost. Both games are incredible nonetheless
They have a lot in common and lot different, ghost of tsushima provides challenge that is enjoyable for most players, Sekiro provides a challenge that’s more enjoyable for a completionist, the feeling of doing no hit boss rushes in Tsushima on lethal is daunting but possible for those who are trying to have fun, meanwhile Sekiro no hit runs are a whole other group of people, Tsushima on lethal is a good gauge to see if you are going to have the patience for Sekiro

And personally i more like the realistic combat than anime(?) style combat. But ofc sony has 10x times more money to make their games visually better than fromsoftware so it's not a fair comparison.

Having FINALLY played ghost of Tsushima I can honestly say they both excel in different areas and are fantastic
Quests, I feel like GOT wins purely for the four main tales ishikawas masakos yunas and the warrior monk each one beautifully written yet heart-wrenching.
SEKIRO combat was so addictive. Ghost of Tsuhima was good for exploring, and it was beautiful, but the combat just lacked. I understand it's realistic, but it doesn't feel engaging like Sekiro. GOT the boss fights sucked ,but exploring GOT was definitely an experience and the experience exploring hit the dopinmen levels to critical levels. Both had good stories. I just personally favor Sekiro mainly cause I'm a software die hard fan. You guys can jerk off Suckerpunch studios till your arm breaks off. I'm not saying it's trash I mean they spent 18 months on that island. The combat is made by real life Samaria and shobies I'm not saying GOT is bad but once again I just personally favor sekiro.

They're not even close to the same games. So it's really hard to compare.
Ghost is meant to be kind of based in reality where sekiro is over the top borderline a true fantasy then a samurai game. So I agree w everything you said except the boss fights. Can't compare them.

Ghost of tsushima is not even close to realistic. It is just like Sekiro a historical fantasy, it is grounded in it’s tone and approach, but if you ask any historian or someone who’s knowledgeable in japanese history it is far from realistic. Amazing game nonetheless, it doesn’t need to be 1:1 with real history to be a good game/story.

Sekiro's combat is the best one I've seen even today. It's freeflow, adaptive, and definitely makes you feel so cool for every attack reads and parries. I can think of games that have a good combat mechanics (i.e: Batman: Arkham series) but nothing makes you feel like the boss of the game as Sekiro.

There is a huge serpent, a headless ape and some enemies use magic (Owl, Father) or illusions (Lady butterfly)

@@buckyb3av3r11i think the point in game when u need to master the combat is the genichiro bossfight at top of the castle. before that bossfight u can do whatever you want and win. in genichiro bossfight, it forces you to use all the combat mechanics such as perfect parrying, dodging, arm prosthetics, timing, boss movement set, etc. after you beat genichiro until his second form, you've mastered the game combat and ready for next harder bosses

After playing both, I agree. The deep character in both games, like ishin and shimura, both giving us what's the meaning of our journey. How we start as an honorable samurai to the feared ghost, shinobi to shura. The gameplay as well, both have this special way to present the mechanics, and I loved it.
And really wish for the continuation, or at least others with these quality

Getting into the zone after numerous tries in Sekiro is like ecstasy
Yeah sekiro wins in combat and gameplay purely because of it’s hybrid between soulsborne combat and rythm game feedback. It’s both cinematic and satisfying. I feel bad for anyone whos reflexes don’t work quick enough to get the full experience from sekiro. The first playthrough is like a rollercoaster of an experience but re-playing after mastering it has a completely different pleasure to it. The first playthrough is like fear and courage the second playthrough is like im literally an master shinobi 🗿

Definitely. I’m currently playing Ghost of Tsushima and holy shit the combat mechanics are so smooth. Especially the parrying and dodging. I just started Act II and have decided that this is one game that I want to try to 100 percent

This games are apples and oranges, both a similar on a base level. Both are enjoyable. But they offer very different experiences to one another, so it would be pretty silly to compare them.

As somebody who is still trying to beat ghost of Tsushima on the hardest setting, it takes skill.
I have platinumed both games, both are amazing. It's all about what mood you're in, feel cool and want to tackle strong opponents in a duel? *Sekiro.* Want to relax a bit and go thru multiple enemies in a flow? *GOT.*

It is boring. And not in game's tone. Jin kills every mongol in armor with ≈3 hits in sakai clan armor without charms, but ryuzo needs ≈15 hits with it. But ryuzo is just dressed in light cloth! His shoulder is practically bare! Honestly hate duels in GoT :/
Platinumed GoT and also got all achievements of iki and legends mode. Also I cried at the end, when Jin writes haiku with his uncle so I paused the game for 2 minutes. You can't say that I hate GoT or something.

Sekiro is one of the most perfectly made games I have ever played, the combat is refined. Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best stories I have experienced and has one of my favorite soundtracks in existence. I replay these all the time.
I love the story of a Samurai learning to put the safety of his people over his own honor. And how much the game adds weight to that sacrifice is amazing
If GOT has the best story yoy've ever experienced, gtf away from books in general, Dark Souls 1, movies in general. You'd die of a heart attack by overstimulation. Like seriously, there are stories out there that are ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE, to the power of multiple googleplexes better that Ghosts of Tsushima. Don't ever read anything by Dostoyevski, watch the Godfather or play any Final Fantasy.
(Yes, these are all recommendations disguised as a roast, please experience anything i've mentioned).

I personally love Sekiro more than any other game that has ever existed. Obviously my vote is for Sekiro
With that being said Ghosts of Tshushima is nearly perfect. The combat, graphics, and story is unmatched. It’s not challenging enough for my tastes unfortunately. Also the unskip-able cutscenes puts a damper on the replay value.

How is GoT not nearly perfect, the combat was good the graphics were wonderful, the storytelling was gut wrenching and the environment and scenery was breath taking, semipro ha really good combat, some cool bosses, and the story telling is ok, even then it’s preference, the aspects I listed about GoT are not preference it’s fact

Sekiro is gameplay wise far superior to GoT.
It's pure skill. It's a dance you have to learn and adapt into, while GoT is more like God of War, where it can be difficult sometimes but in general is child's play in comparison to any From Software Game.
Chain assassination in tsushima is so satisfying but combat sekiro is just amazing

Ghost of Tsushima is a great experience overall. Be it interms of story, graphics, combat, customizations etc. But it lacked in the number of boss fights and it's short!

@@thmistrapillay1811 Ghost has more tools for combat but that doesn't necessarily mean deeper combat. Even the stances are irrelevant if you just parry/dodge everything and use the light attacks and kunais trivialize mobs entirely

You can literally just continuously dodge in sekiro and only strike in boss battles and basically run past every single mob because you don't have stamina and you'll never get tired in a boss fight and can trivialize all other enemies because no mob will ever catch you
And DS1 - ER you can just walk around bosses and continuously poke them to death with basic weapons, and again just run past all enemies and levels

Disagree on one point. Sekiro’s gameplay is like crack, once you have a handle on things, it’s straight up addicting. It’s one of if not the most refined combat experience in gaming history, it’s straight mesmerizing.
Totally agree. From NG+ up to NG+4, I was completely obsessed. I could not stop playing. It’s the high skill ceiling + the mastery over the mechanics that turns Sekiro into an opium den for me.
Jin and Wolf are amazing characters, the both of them.

It would be a closer fight if we only take their fencing skill into consideration. But even then i think Wolf takes the W because of his wider knowledge of fencing techniques and quicker adaptation in combat due to his shinobi training, but in a purely fencing match Jin would still put up an awesome fight.

The island one? I never finished it but I want to go back to it. I’m having trouble getting past that fort up on the hill after you originally crash-land. The Shamans made it really difficult, but I will complete it one day

I would argue Sekiros story is better due to it being more fantastical with Japanese folklore, cryptids, deities etc. but Ghost is more realistic and has that old fashioned Japanese samurai movie thing going which is great also.

Can’t compare these two. Both set in Japan and you play as sick ass ninjas, but they are two separate amazing games.
One is an open world and the other is a semi-linear souls-like, I don't know how you can compare exploration and more when things like Sekiro's hook or Tsushima's horse come up

Sekiro’s world and combat is just so much more compelling and distinct, I’d go that in a heartbeat, even though I do like the other game and prefer it to a lot of other Sony cinematic games.
As someone who just started Ghost but has poured hundreds of hours in Sekiro, both are amazing. That being said I think Sekiro is a stronger protagonist because of the fantasy elements of his story and abilities. Both games are absolutely amazing though.
Played both and loved them. I'm also a from fanboy. Even then, I enjoyed got more than sekiro forsure. GOT last fight and ending brought me to tears. Beautiful game.

@@SyedAli-gl7jq Bro, bloodborne is so good, I love it so much. I gotta admit, Elden Ring is just better. The combat is legendary and the bosses are INSANE! I also love Sekiro, and I only got it 3 days ago. Elden Ring has a massive variety of weapons and spells and whatever, and it should usually take you around 300-400 hours to 100% the game. You're definitely consumed by nostalgia, as bloodborne is good, but not as good as Elden Ring and you should know that if you've played it. I completed Elden Ring, immediately went for a new playthrough (Not new game+, literally just a new playthrough) and I could not stop playing it. I beat it in 27 hours across 3 or 4 days.

I played both games this year, and the combat is so satisfying , it's hard to master at first, but when you do, you are unstoppable
Always saw Sekiro as a more Eastern version of Tsushima and Tsushima as a more Western version of Sekiro. Tsushima especially was made for western audiences by a western studio. The appeal was a fun exploration samurai game made for western audiences. I love the batshit crazy fantasy Japanese setting and anime style fighting of Sekiro along with the skill it requires, but both games achieve different goals. I’d be lying if I said while I found Sekiro’s lore and visual storytelling certainly interesting and captivating that it’s a better narrative than Tsushima. Tsushima did it’s homework with that regard and I was pleasantly surprised with the care it gave to it story for something in the video game medium, especially considering they could’ve just gone full Sekiro, but they didn’t. Once again, both amazing games, just very different in their goals. Tsushima is still hard as well, just gotta play on the highest difficulty. Very nice that the game reminds you time and time again that you are just one man. Get surrounded and even with a leveled up Jin you can still be cut down very quickly.
Sekiro is like Ghost of Tsushima if it was a souls game. More linear design, some core souls mechanics, bosses, and story. Both of them feature fast paced and difficult combat where parrying/deflecting are most often ideal, each with their own stagger system, healing, and even resurrection/second chances Lmao
They have a lot of similarities in gameplay.
