Terraria Gridlocked is a challenge by HappyDays in which the Terraria world is completely covered in a locked framework of grids. To unlock a grid wall, we need to earn 50 gold coins using only what we can find within the grids we've unlocked.
The cost to unlock grids increases over time so we need to carefully plan which direction to unlock grids in to maximize our money-earning potential and beat Terraria by making our way to the Moon Lord!

I'd recommend you craft the Shadow Candle for help with mob grinding. You craft it with the Graveyard biome and it overrides the peaceful effects of towns, allowing for great farming with more NPCs.

@@chanisirften4600 Crimtane/Demonite spawn underground though? You can even get some through the eye. You don’t even need to defeat the brain/eater to get it

The dedication you’re putting into this challenge is insane I’d love to see more of this challenge! I’d recommend expanding horizontally to try & find the dungeon for a water candle. Then you can expand downwards to the cabin to get the gold chests loot & then begin construction on a cavern layer mob farm using the water candle.
The dungeon is gonna be like a 100 platinum away lol.
Hey, I was wondering how the map worked? Like did you make the grids yourself or did someone make the map for you? Either way, it would be cool if you could release the map eventually so we could try it too!

This is one of the most creative, interesting, fun and difficult challenges i've seen in quite some time continue going down into the cavern layer and continue this series please
I'd say say go down halfway to hell and then start going sideways.

@@awemowe2830 while you might be correct, if one dedicates their youtube to a specific game (or atleast a portion of it), they definitely tend to have a bit of time to burn to make such content based on it depending on their backlog of saved up episodes to be posted. But it's probably not something a typical player with better things to do would play, given the mention of hours going by farming trees, gems and enemies with weak gear.
This sounds like a insanely difficult challenge but I sure happy can do it

Its great to have you properly back happy, you've been a big part of my childhood, heavily associated with my love for terraria. I think we keep heading down until we reach the underworld and then start heading outwards
I absolutely love Settled's Tileman series and now a RUclipsr I haven't watched in years basically does the same thing but in my favorite game. This is going to be a great series.

I reckon unlocking the next grid down is the way to go at this stage still, followed by unlocking a grid to the side so you can separate your mob farm area from the npc town

Honestly, which zone you pick next is just what you want more. Do you want more surface access for boss fighting and the limited surface resources? Or do you expand your underground instead to gather the higher tier resources, and maybe expand into the underground snow/desert/jungle?
If you ask me, expanding your underground should take priority. Whatever you pick though, I'm sure you know what you're doing. Good luck!!

I’d go down one more grid before exploring to the left and right. I read another comment that said how it’d be nice to separate the mob farm above ground from the npc town. I also think it could be beneficial to explore left and right underground to expand the gem tree farm and maybe even make boss arenas underground.

I love this challenge idea! For future episodes, maybe try to explore left or right to get the desert biome next? a bunch of sand turned to glass mixed with your gems would make stained glass (which I think sells for a lot of gold)

Happy, I haven't watched this video yet but based on the comments I'm in for a treat. You were the first Terraria RUclipsr that I ever started watching and really kicked off my love for Terraria challenges. I've been playing Terraria since the first leaked pirate builds of 1.1 and have more hours in this game than any other. Currently doing a get fixed boi legendary mode playthrough. You always bring a smile to my face, keep it up! Glad you're back 🍪!
I think you should keep heading down and start a cavern mob grinder. This will be crucial for pretty much the rest of the play through, especially when you get the steampunker and can change the biome to get different loot

It does not need to be a graveyard biome to get Abigale's flower it just grows next to graves.
Better chance if it is a graveyard though

This is such a cool idea! I think you should explore more of the surface because finding new biomes might open up a lot more ways to farm coins
Great video, and I had the thought of a “boss lock” challenge while watching this. Basically, to progress to the next area of the game you have to beat a boss from the area you are currently in. It would be a little janky for terraria, but you could (for example) not be allowed to go break a shadow orb to get meteor until you’ve defeated the EOC. It’s just an idea, and it definitely needs tuning, but I think there’s probably something there.
