I think the part you missed in Joe vs logic, is that logic did an interview with Rory and mal and logic took shots at him during it. Doesn’t really excuse Joe’s behavior but it does explain why he picked the beef back up

I go through my regular cycle of watching the whole podcast from 100 to up until 300 something before Mal and Rory leaves. Knowing what I know now, the signs and little digs between each other is always there. Also, with Joe being Joe, I can tell when he's doing the dancing he always does in arguments: blame-shift, divert with something funny, or just be loud and wrong until they back down. If they don't back down, move on.
