To those of you saying Poseidon is another Titanic: just because they both take place on a ship, does not mean they are alike in any way other than being disaster movies and taking place on a ship. 2 very different stories, types of characters, titanic was partly a romance movie, while Poseidon had almost none. One was capsized by a wave and the other hit and iceburg.
I remember watching this movie as a kid who was scared of water. Was shaking like a leaf the entire duration with me... watched in the evening with my mom, who didn't realize that the movie was scaring me so badly. Never going to forget that elevator scene lol... maybe I should rewatch this sometime.
I literally had the same experience! I was so terrified by the elevator scene but I'm kinda intrigued if I would still be as scared as I was back then. I'm a huge disaster film enthusiast by now so who knows 🤷🏽♀️
I was talking to my coworker this morning about how I wanted to go on a cruise ship. He told me that he never wants to go on a cruise ship all because he saw this movie. I personally have never seen this movie but now I want to, especially since this film is directed by Wolfgang Petersen. I loved Troy and The Perfect Storm so maybe I will love this one too.
How can it be 2021, and I am just now finding out about this movie? 37:30 into it. So far so good. Makes me wonder how many movies like this, are actually out there that I had no clue about. Anybody that has any recommendations. Please send them my way. My dog and I, are big movie buffs.
so sad that one of the best director out there has passed away.. wolfgang petersen s movie was facinates me.. poseidon was a very entertaining movie.. one of the best thrilling ride of a lifetime is watching poseidon for the very first time.. i still remember whan i saw the poster of it in cinema coming soon and saw the name of petersen directing it. i get excited and trully cant wait to watch it in theatre.. i know its gonna be good.. and it didnt fail me .
Maybe the guy who referred to him as "the old boy"? I didn't even need to be a sacrifice, just make an offering on land and ask his blessing before you take off, it'd take half an hour tops.
Agreed. I can't wait to continue to find more deleted scenes and stuff for this masterpiece so we can maybe get ourselves or even make an extended cut.
@@genabrickner3536 Well, it's actually not even a remake of the old film, as said by the director and crew. Thus, why the characters are different and such, and they specifically wanted a story that was not a remake. Interesting, huh?
Will there be other people join my awe about this movie after watching in while in lockdown (April 2020)? Best movie I have watched from Netflix this year!
Watching this now...I can't believe I am just now finding this...looks like a great movie...thank u for showing trailers like this....it looks exciting & terrifying at the same some....is this based on a true event
I noticed this too, there is an extended cut somewhere unreleased that includes alot more character development and more visual effects shots seen in the trailer
I love the Poseidon 2006 Movie and I love the original The Poseidon Adventure as well. I think both films are amazing adaptions of the book by Paul Gallico. I think Poseidon 2006 does a better job with the capsizing scene. It shows what Rouge Waves are able to do to ships. The History Channel aired a documentary called, Rouge Waves which deals with these monsters, and discusses the accuracy of the movie itself. The 150-foot wave shown in the film was created by digital effects company ILM. They closely studied the behavior of water in order to develop new special effects software with the help of scientists from the Stanford University.
Things I noticed while watching this: Different camera angles- we see this during Capt. Bradford's speech. Underwater POVs- Ship going underwater with windows underwater and additional shot of lifeboats coming loose from their davits/hinges. We also see the bow come into frame towards the beeginning of the trailer when "Warner Bros. Presents" comes into frame. Underwater Stern Shot- Lights flickering out after capsize sequence. Deleted Scene- a scene where a man falls from a staircase (?) is present in the trailer. If parts of the movie weren't cut, we could've had a better movie with fleshed out characters who you actually root for and a better story all around. This is just my opinion.
Pretty accurate. It starts joyous, but then the wave and chaos comes, which symbolizes the Coronavirus, celebrities dying, COPPA, events being cancelled, B.W.B.A, the protests, etc.
just because a ship sinks it doesn't make it a copy of Titanic. Good things like this happens in real life, it doesn't make it a copy of a popular movie
Yay! Someone else understands! It's just I saw the original movie maybe in 2012 and this reminds me a lot of it. The boats upside down underwater and a group of people who were at this dinner on the boat have to try and escape.
If I could vote, to Titanic and Poseidon sea tragedy scenes, I would normally vote for Titanic. But in storyline and side characters? Poseidon got a lot of points there. It's just pure survival and terror but not to the extent that you wouldn't want to ride a big ocean liner again like Titanic getting submerged helplessly. Poseidon takes on different turn that became so underrated as ocean tragic movie. So yeah. Poseidon got me haha
Right away for a movie it may have been better if it would have shown us the lives of the main characters before they got on the ship We are not given time to make emotional attachments before it goes into the catastrophe You really need to feel emotionally attached as a viewer

Your on drugs.
For all the people saying this is a rip off of the titanic it's not. Not every boat tragedy is a rip off
Morgan Girard deep rising is a badass movie lol good sea movie
Morgan Girard people are saying that?
They call rogue waves tsunamis too!
Emmy Rossum did try too hard to look like Rose from Titanic, though
And don’t forget that, the novel and original film came out in the 60s and 70s, before the 1997 titanic
Clearly they didn't watch Titanic...there was no waves invovled...It was something called an "Iceberg"
To those of you saying Poseidon is another Titanic: just because they both take place on a ship, does not mean they are alike in any way other than being disaster movies and taking place on a ship. 2 very different stories, types of characters, titanic was partly a romance movie, while Poseidon had almost none. And Titanic was an actual ship with characters portraying real people who either survived or perished.
Shanelle Goodman are those people sayng that poseidon was copyed from titanic or is it just my opinion
And because they both were natural disaster
someon in one clip of poseidon wrote:Plot twist: The wave is the iceberg that sank the Titanic. It just melted because climate change
One has the ship sinking in the later half of the film, while the other is upside down most of the film and sinks at the very end.
This is an amazing trailer. That last shot and the people screaming still gives me chills.
Agreed. I just wish that it was in the final cut.
What about the end will the hero of the film die ?
@Daggeto_Is this movie Poseidon is like Titantic movie is a remake and incredible song and voice of Titantic My heart go on by Celiene Dion

That was the whole movie 🤣🤣😂🤷♀️🤔

Rest In Peace Wolfgang Petersen who passed away on Friday
I don’t care what the rotten tomatoes said about this film
It was a great remake
A great action remake of a 70s movie or show since Charlie’s Angels 2000 with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu
Rotten tomatoes reviews are not gospel. If you wanna see a movie, just go. Rotten got so many movies wrong, glad I never listened to them
The story is that Poseidon got angry that this ship took it's name so it decided to make a giant wave and get rid of the ship
This is exactly why I'm NEVER going on one of those big boats that go into the middle of the ocean.
This trailer does not do the movie justice. It's an experience that you have to see for yourself.
