- Nestled against the Mississippi River in the very northeast corner of Iowa is the Yellow River State Forest. The rolling bluffs and creeks provide for scenic overlooks and good hiking. On this trip, I spend 3 days backpacking and seeing many miles of this area. Below normal spring temperatures provided some challenges. I also gained 5 pounds from all the good food on this trip. :-)

Normally I hate watching RUclips campers cook. They spend too much time with every detail of the process. But you hit the sweet spot of camp cooking video. Just enough of each part of the process for me to figure out what you were doing and still keep me entertained. Props.

Rested up after the AT? That is truly a Bucket List item for me. I live in Alaska and have hiked quite a bit up here and quite a bit in the Ozarks since I am from Kansas and Missouri originally. I looked up when you said something about Kevin's daughter and I couldn't quite make out that it was a dog at first. I thought his human daughter was over on the ground having some kind of seizure or something until someone called to her and she looked up. I was thinking "this is very odd. Someone should go help her." Lol

MIdwest backpacker " The AT wasn't enough I need to go to Iowa!" Are there pit toilets like the SHT there? I'm thinking this would be a could place to take my daughter for a bp trip.
