- Today is a bank holiday in the UK, so the Ukraine: The Latest team have produced a special Q&A episode answering questions from Telegraph subscribers. Thank you to all our listeners for getting in touch with your questions. Do let us know what you make of our responses.
Correction: The date is of course the 6th May, not the 2nd May as David says in the introduction.

While the telegraph is telling tales, Russia liberated more land in a few weeks than Ukraine did during the entire counteroffensive :)
Hellooo! The Russian Foreign Ministry said to the British Ambassador that if British missiles are launched against Russian territory, the Russians will consider Britain directly involved in the war in Ukraine and the Russians reserve the right to retaliate against British military installations and bases in Britain itself and go after the British military elsewhere in the world. it's an ultimatum.
Indeed, and totally ignored by the media..
Absolutely and they certainly got the message just like the French.
Adverts at the start of this are in pretty bad taste tbh
Arent they allowed to make money? This isnt communist Russia mate
@@mattbird7162 I think it's more about the location
@@mattbird7162 There are tasteless ways to make money.
@@mattbird7162 It is not even a question of making money, more of covering their costs. I get people complaining of adverts on my channel, when I ask, no-one has yet told me how to cover my costs without them.
It did confuse me momentarily - as initially I couldn't identify where that pesky ad soundtrack was coming from. 🤣 (lesson learnt now LOL.)
Audio Volume levels are VERY low in this episode, apart from the advert and the intro.
Also, I'm American they have accents but don't he say it's Monday the second of May at the beginning?
@@S-tank_ No. He said that it was a "Bank Holiday", which is something peculiar to the UK, a day off for banks and some government institutions but not the general public.
@@davidbarry6900 oh ok lol never heard of that but makes more sense than getting the date wrong haha. I'm from Tennessee it aint always easy to understand what they are saying but love the show wish I'd found it sooner
@@S-tank_ Also, the blog gets onto RUclips, usually a day later than the publish date, and the weekend makes it 2 days late with another day late because of the bank holiday.
yes
WTF is with the ad at the start?
Someone forgot to edit it out. It's a bank holiday, they've probably got the work experience lad running things.
What's with the ads?
yeah they can fk right off
To be able to make a more sensible choice replace "difficult war" with "lost war"
Amazing commentary as usual fills me with images of brave unicorns fighting along side Rishi, Dave and Ze
Brave unicorns united fleeing from the war!!
His Majesty's Naval Base, Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth) is one of three operating bases in the United Kingdom for the Royal Navy (the others being HMNB Clyde and HMNB Devonport). Portsmouth Naval Base is part of the city of Portsmouth; it is located on the eastern shore of Portsmouth Harbour, north of the Solent and the Isle of Wight. For centuries it was officially known as HM Dockyard, Portsmouth: as a Royal Dockyard, Portsmouth functioned primarily as a state-owned facility for building, repairing and maintaining warships; for a time it was the largest industrial site in the world.[2]

Thanks for that, sneaky 😕
Informative, very limited reporting about Ukraine on Australian media, our media is absorbed with Gaza,
To answer the title: Yes. A bad peace is just an unresolved conflict, at best. And this is a particularly ugly conflict.
Thanks for bringing this special episode, Wish I had known earlier about the q&a ahead of time so I could have participated.
The Port of Felixstowe, in Felixstowe, Suffolk, is the United Kingdom's largest container port,[1] dealing with 48% of Britain's containerised trade.[2][3] In 2017, it was ranked as 43rd busiest container port in the world and 8th in Europe, with a handled traffic of 3.85 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).[4] In 2019 it was ranked the UKs 7th busiest port.[5]

Bravo guys
Excellent as always
Keep up the good work guys!
So, Francis concedes that the Taliban were a resistance force during the American War and not terrorists.
I dont mind the ads if they support the best podcast in the world. Also who wouldnt just wanna get a beer with one of these guys? I would book a trip to london just to buy a round 😂
Moray East Wind Farm is an offshore wind farm located in the Moray Firth off the coast of Scotland.
10:30 I was also very interested in the question of the extent of the Ukrainian resistance efforts taking place in Russian occupied territories and one of the previous episodes offered some very interesting slivers. The Russians just completed a critical overland rail line to Crimea. I can imagine that there will be some harrowing accounts after the war or an armistice that bring forth further details of what activities are happening behind the front lines, particularly those to raid and sabotage Russian supply lines.
Good info
We ain't interested in adverts ...all we want to hear is the emotional roll coaster of Dom
Hi to david and the team, one question I really need to get of my back, and I listen all the time and it's never comes up. So russia is buying its weapons from Iran, north Korea and China, so it's OK to use there weapons in Ukraine, ok the west moans, sanctions kick in here and there, but as soon as Cameron comes and says its ok to use British weapons in Russia or Ukraine, christ all mighty, bloody Russia starts getting it's nuclear weapons ready etc surely all this is no different from them using weapons from china and Iran???what the bloody difference. Many thanks Oliver.
I was wondering whether the advert before the podcast proper, is an instance of pro-Russian hacking, or just generic hacking. Not sure how open to hacking RUclips uploads are. If people complained to Google about the advert, would Google act to shut down this channel. Anyway, looking forward to listening to the podcast content.
I wonder if it's Google who are inserting the adverts. So maybe just a shortcoming of using Facebook.
If podcasts start introducing ads into their videos, then Premium YT is useless...
It'll be youtube adds AND sponsorship adds . It'll double up
Your analysis is truly entertaining 😂
It's certainly mystifying. Where are they getting their drugs? I'd be looking at their credit card statements.
It's not like it sows the seeds for another war or anything like that. You'd have to be _Verysailly_ to think otherwise.
Great work as always guys
This is a bit of a strange episode, I agree the sound is not only low but a bit off and the stupid ads at the beginning threw me too!! Are there gremlins afoot?
As long as the ring isnt hairy
Answering to the title; in the case of RuZzia's invasion of Ukraine the answer is a definite "yes".
Comedian zelensky days are numbered 😅
why the poor audio????
Nobody listens to the podcast anymore. They probably have cut the budget.
One question I have not heard asked or addressed - Is there not a compelling incentive for the West to back the Ukraine to a decisive victory, to recover, thrive, and ultimately pay it's Western debt back. If Ukraine loses, that debt will have to be written off....or would this be viewed like a gambler trying to recover his losses with more gambling? 🤔
that 61B is just to get Biden to the next election that's all
Russia doesn't have any significant experience, nor have they put resources into amphibious operations. If they put in the resources over time, they could do it, but any amphibious operations they try will be at a huge disadvantage. It is not just equipment that is needed, it is people and doctrine.
Peace of western wets is totally unimportant! Justice in getting Russia out of Ukraine is very important
The NATO variable has the most significant effect on the result of the War and Peace equation.
What the hell... those adverts at the beginning of the video are quite tacky
❤❤❤ i believe everything is connected, I don’t know what this concept of connectedness means, so I try to maintain a big picture approach. This means, for me the evolution is positive change, positive changes can’t be measured objectively by those woh are part of the change, unless they hve an unmoving point of reference which guides their lives beginning beforehand and continues throughout their life. This war, is set within a greater context and that greater context is set within another dimension which extends towards the heavens and the earth. This is difficult for people, like yourself who are , not to be insulting, but part. Of their destiny to be on mountainous viewing other mountains. It’s easy for such mountains viewing, living people to think that the valley is intolerably small compared to their experience in the mountains, and upon further reflection their families and everyday connections are a kind of normality, their assumption that they’re closer to the stars than the valley people…so they’re manipulated by their environment just as much, or I would argue, more so a victim, of their knowledge and environment than the valley peoples. They’re divided, in. Tragic state S the valley people are divided by a nearby mountain range or River. The proces of change are affecting all these environments, even me. However, there’s an important difference in how we conceptually perceive the mental and social environment. Mountain communities are seen as superior to the other groups, and accorded greater deference and given greater voice. The war in Ukraine isn’t being held into an all embracing concept with climate change and what is happening in other places like. Haiti, for example. Until the mountains people can make their mental models incorporate all this…we’re all just pushing deck chairs on a wallowing boat boat in a storm. We’ve all all contributed to.
I love your podcast. I'm not a podcast person, but I always listen to yours.
Sound needs an increase or is it because I'm far away in New Zealand?
I need the volume up to maximum here in Canada as well!
I'm in NZ too, and was low for me also. But, I still could hear it, just enough.
No war. For Blackrock
With this conflict having largely dropped off the current headlines, is there anything we can do to influence political leaders or the media to reinvigorate attention? And/or action to support Ukraine?
Also...WTF!! With the ridiculous and innaporopriate adverts!

Western embassies in Ukraine should install their own air-defense systems to protect from Russian missiles and drones.
Also, the US and UK helped shoot down Iranian missiles and drones on their way to Israel.
Why can’t they do this in Ukraine?
Western embassies have indeed installed the best western supplied air-defense systems around Kiev already and Russia destroyed them, because Russia can.
US and UK helped shoot down missiles on drones on their way to occupied Palestine (i.e Israel) because the platforms were not in fear of being shot-down, over Ukraine this would be a distinct (and almost certain) possibility.

Very low sound level. Nearly gave up. Phone on full volume and had to hold it to my ear
We need to hope the F16s help, as soon as possible. We also need to appreciate it not airframes that win the air war, but the weapons and systems that surround them.
F16s are important because they are well harmonised in that respect. Expect plenty of surprises.
The F 16s fly for an hour and then need hours of maintenance. They will make no difference if n the outcome. It’s propaganda to suggest otherwise.
F16s also means Romania and Poland will become targets. Not that anyone cares about those.
@tomwisemaniii-mt4bw surely they will fly for longer than an hour....I did read somewhere that for every flying hour the F16 requires 33 maintenance hrs (3 men x 11hrs @).
In any case, the F16 will only be as good as the pilots flying them.....
Why so quiet? I have everything turned up full and still can't hear it.

Poor effort boys, are we a skint yank broadcaster now or something?
Tut tut.
Question 2, Francis explains that there has been of lack of commentary telling the world that Russia's actions in Ukraine are a direct threat to us all.
That exact sentiment has been repeated ad nauseum by the talking heads since day one.
Why is Francis so utterly clueless?
They shood have started training 10,000 F16 pilots over 2 years ago.
With the assumption that only the best 10% of the pilots would be selected.
Dom is on a bad mic.
Ask Britain to make peace with Germany in 1940.

Reverting every single situation back to ww2 is not healthy. Boomer energy.
Cope talk, they've been walked into disaster by this regime.

What was Russias aims in the beginning of the war?
The west shood have started training 10,000 F16 pilots within a month of the start of this invasion with the assumption that only the best 10% of the pilots would be selected.
Very quiet at times. Can't hear a thing in traffic

downvote for initial advert.
Yeah that was jarring at best.
At least I can FF past that one. The ads YT sprinkles anywhere they please without any regard to their impact on the content or viewing experience is much more annoying.

Loose the adverts!
At this point unconditional surrender is the only practical solution for Ukraine. Hitler's Germany also refused to admit defeat until Hitler killed himself, then Keitel signed unconditional surrender.
bollocks!
back again joshua with your usual nonsensense
I agree, but the west wont let it happen, at least not yet. They dont mind Ukraine being destroyed as long as they can pretend the west is still all powerful and superior. They dream of victory and that's fine as long as it is Ukrainians who get killed. If Macron pushes more french foreign legionaires into Ukraine Russia is ready to strike. Putin has called his bluff as well as Cameron's. The russians are dead serious, they have no time for playing games.
Thanks for the update and the guests…💙💛💙
Russia needs to fear escalation not NATO.
Russia has no fear from no one
What is Nato other than a bunch U.S. vassals that have been sufficiently weakened by the overlord (Washington) as to not to pose a future threat to master?
What escalation can NATO do next? It has given everything conventional to the war as well as economic sanctions and seizing assets. NATO only has nuclear weapons to escalate with.
@david
Not true. NATO is not participating. NATO and non NATO countries have sent mostly decommissioned equipment, not the latest issues.
And Ukrainians are not trained to use the more powerful equipment.
Ukrainians are doing this 80% on their own against the ‘massive’ Russian terrorist army.

Wrong then and wrong now….
Will the West still support Kiev if Zaluzhny, a committed Banderist becomes President ? Why has there never been a proper investigation into the shooting in the Maidan in 2014 ? Should a country that is attempting to eradicate the language, religion & culture of a significant proportion of the population be called a democracy ? So many questions that should be addressed but predictably were not.

The Poseidon is one of the six new Russian strategic weapons announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 1 March 2018.[7]
How many of those nuclear weapons delivery systems are actually in service?
