Enjoy your channel, Jerry. I made ahi tuna from Aldi’s this week for the first time, using your marinade recipe, and grilling on my weber Q 1200. It was really good. I usually shy away from raw or rare cooked fish, but It was great to try something new, and the tuna, cooked this way, was definitely moist and flavorful. I found with my weber Q 1200 that I had to decrease the time to about a minute and a half or a minute and 45 seconds per side, or it would overcook for me. Thanks for the recipe.
Looks great - I am always a little nervous about having it that rare - I prefer it a minute or 2 more to keep it moist but not rare. What difference would it make to cook it on the grate rather than the griddle?
Yeah, my fiancee was nervous about it being that rare. Perhaps if you are nervous about it, go get it from a more high end store than I did (yes, maybe eating tuna cooked rare from ALDI was living a little dangerously lol). For a fish like tuna that doesn't flake, grates should be fine. It's possible that using a griddle might help retain a little bit of moisture if you plan on cooking longer, because any fat/grease won't fall through the grates, but tuna isn't very greasy so the effect may be minimal. Thanks for watching, and enjoy!
Hes making this dish way to complicated. Heres how to cook your tuna. Coat tuna with olive oil. Shake a generous amount of McCormick Garlic and herb. Place on weber grill grate for about 3 minutes on each side. Remove and serve! You dont need any paper towel to dry the fish and you dont need a bowl and you dont need any marinade. Also, Lime doesnt go well with fish. Only Lemon goes with fiish.
