I don't know if those are the exact words,but Winston Churchill said : italians go to war as if were a soccer match and to a soccer match as if it were a war.
The quote I have heard is:
"Italians lose wars as if they were football matches, and football matches as if they were wars"
This song has so much to say, from video games the beginning is an homage to the Mexico 1986 "soccer" video game, to the final drawn and with the cup awarded on penalty kicks. A great Italy, and it is not that only the victories need to be sung, even the non-wins need to be remembered.
this is the story of the 1994 soccer world cup final, which italy lost on penalties to brazil.
during the penalty sequence, they put the original Italian commentary by the commentator Bruno Pizzul.
the "divine ponytail" refers to Roberto Baggio.

I can't take these guys seriously. I think they are taking the P but not in a bad way.
I suspect if you live in Brampton Ontario
the South Asian community is more likely to go wild
about cricket than association football (soccer).
But I think all bar the US and Canada take their association football seriously
at least some sections of the populations.
I am still sure there are earnest discussions even to this day
in bars in Italy about this tragedy for Italy.
BTW I am a Sikh and you in Brampton have the largest concentration
of Sikhs in Canada - and one of the largest Sikh communities
