A number of these guys are professionals whose work is outside music. The band is their stress release, but has grown exponentially with their exposure on RUclips.
It's a very layered parody jabbing at Scandinavian metal bands, particularly the serious ones with Viking or Pagan themes. Having their themes replaced by Christian gospel music, mocking with Hebrew, Odin being born again into a carpenter, being further reduced from their former glory to churning out the ultimate modern Swedish achievement: IKEA furniture. It's a masterpiece. And yes they literally read off the descriptions of IKEA furniture at the end.
SOBER is an Alestorm "style parody" in the same way as "I'll sue ya" is a parody of RATM including having a message that is the antithesis of their songs usual message.
Nanowar of Steel have been around for 20 years and they have a huge backlog of great songs and videos, so if you want to go down that "rabbit hole", it is really huge. But a lot of fun! Thanks for this reaction! :D
8:04 they have a song with the singer of Steel Panther, is called Uranus ruclips.net/video/OSWszdSHkyE/видео.html Also they have a song with Fabio Lione from Rhapsody, is called “Barbie Milf princess of the twilight” ruclips.net/video/gX_TxKa0dCY/видео.html
If you're at least slightly familiar with Sabaton, you should check out Nanowar of Steel's music video Pasadena 1994. I'm seriously going back to it whenever Sabaton hits me too hard in the feels.
I like Steel Panther, but they're kind of one note and figuring out what to do with that now. With Nanowar of Steel, I never know what to expect. Song about going to the Hardware store, yep. Boy band Parody that's about conspiracy theories while sneaking in Eye of the Tiger. Yep. Song about the negative economic impact of the Tooth Fairy. Yep.
You don’t have to like it, I totally understand it takes an acquired taste. Anyway you were great to give them three chances, this is what a serious reaction should be. I’ll subscribe anyway for respect. There is no reason to convince you to like what I like. So hat off sir! Great job 👏🏻.
A few things to point out here, systembolaget is a government-owned chain of liquor stores in Sweden. It is the only retail store allowed to sell alcoholic beverages that contain more than 3.5%. Both Hammerfall (power/heavy metal) and Amon Amarth (melodic death metal) are Swedish metal bands. The guy who said he was Odin is Angus McFife (Thomas Winkler) who was the singer of the band Gloryhammer and is currently in his own band called Angus Mcsix.
The issue is much more complicated. Music and lyrics are linked, but of course you can do serious music and comic lyrics. The bassist of Nanowar recently said something like "there are bands and fans who really take seriously lyrics about dragons, castles, or other topics that I find it unbelievable to give them a deep, intellectual importance" he also said that they know perfectly well that "some people hate us, of course they don't say it openly, but we know and we have to be careful who we invite for collaborations".
@@mushisan In an interview recently, he spoke about how complicated it is in certain cases to find collaborations. They know very well that 'some bands would be annoyed to be linked to them, as they would lose credibility'. You should find everything on RUclips
When I saw them play Valhalleluja live they built a table on stage while singing.

Italy really has nailed the parody metal

"Sober" is a spoof of _Alestorm,_ a true Scottisch pirate metal band with a 20 year catalogue of drinking songs.
True Scottish Pirate Metal is too kult for me, I'll go listen to Rumahoy instead /s.

Sober is definitely a parody of alestorm
This needs to become an official Yule (christmas) song for sure xD
The Ikea Vikings were the most feared of all Vikings.
It's always awesome to see someone reacting to Nanowar without knowing what might happens. :D Thanks big Guy!
Saw them live this year, it was really fun.
