This from 1992 from Milwaukee, WI. My band played out a few times with them. This song is about the Vincent Price classic movie called, The Abominable Dr. Phibes(check it out, its trippy man!). So, you’re correct on how their music sounds like an old school horror soundtrack. That was this bands niche. This whole album is gold & its fun figuring out what movie they’re talking about. Some you’d never guess. Too bad you can’t see the art work that bassist, Steve Somers created for the album. Each song had its own art work. Google Steve Somers art & you can see his various masterpieces as he became a professional after leaving the band. He’s really good. Especially if you like gothic stuff. The last fun fact about Phantasm is that the drummer, Tony Brandt is the vocalist for the band. I had fun getting kicked out of an Appleton, WI Motel 6 @ 4am with them! 😂 Ah! The good ol days! 😊

Lamb of God's sound itself has always blown me away, and I'm very surprised you didn't find anything in this song that grabs you, especially the guitar tone and stylings, and Randy's beastly vocals. They are a unique mix of genres and they have an intensity and epicness I don't really feel listening to most other bands. I don't know where you were looking for their genre but I've known they were groove metal for literally over a decade, with a very punk edge to it. I really hope you give them another chance. I'll be honest, this song isn't the best to do them justice: try Laid To Rest, Ashes OF The Wake, Walk With Me In Hell, or Ruin

I have a song request that I think you might enjoy listening to. The song is by gates of Ishtar it's called dawn of flames

The song title is "Necromansy" originally because (that's how I read it) they had no "c" left but an "s" in spare for the printing. I love the raw style all over that polished dumb stuff that everyone tries to do nowadays. Regarding the satanic panic: yes that's funny after all. Everyone wanted to find something "satanic" in rock music and then suddenly there were bands that said "yes of course, it's us" 😂

Unless you already have, you should listen to the band, Venom. Bathory actually got their name from a Venom song. It is even said that Venom may of influenced the start of the black metal genre.

Answering your question about why older rock generations hated our generation of music is because of jealousy pure and simple because music before was powerful or could be aggressive but ours was both and paved the way for inclusivity of people who were shunned from their society wether that be anyone who has mental health issues etc..

Qourthon was extremely talented in creating atmosphere in his music while sorta sticking to his trash/first wave black metal roots. You should check out their first 3 albums and then compare them to the later ones and also how it influenced the Scandinavian infamous 2nd wave black metal.
